They called me unstable. Dangerous. They weren't wrong.
Two years ago, I was an FBI profiler, until I watched something tear a hole in reality and drag my colleagues into the dark. The Bureau stripped my badge, buried the truth, and kicked me to the curb. Now I'm a washed-up PI with a drinking problem and nightmares that won't quit.
When seven children vanish from a dying Oregon town, a desperate mother begs me to find her son. But AetherCorp is involved, a shadow company that's been ripping holes between dimensions for decades.
They've opened a Breach. A doorway to a place where physics screams and monsters wear human faces. And they're feeding it children to keep it hungry.
I'm outgunned, outmatched, and whatever's inside that tear is changing me from the inside out, whispering that I could be so much more if I just let go.
I should run. Instead, I team up with Hawk, a disgraced Marine with his own ghosts and a way of looking at me like I'm worth saving. Together, we're all that stands between those kids and the dark.
AetherCorp thinks I'm broken. They're about to find out broken things have the sharpest edges.
Breach Point is the explosive first book in The Ava Cross Chronicles, a dark urban fantasy thriller for readers who love flawed heroines, morally gray allies, and romances forged in the spaces between worlds.
I’m N.P. Martin and I’m a lover of dark fantasy and horror. Writing stories about magick, the occult, monsters and kickass characters has always been my idea of a dream job, and these days, I get to live that dream. I have tried many things in my life (professional martial arts instructor, bouncer, plasterer, salesman…to name a few), but only the writing hat seems to fit. When I’m not writing, I’m spending time with my wife and daughters at our home in Northern Ireland.
What can I say? N.P. Martin does it again. Melding his limitless imagination with his inimitable flair for dark urban fantasy has resulted in the birth of a new series that promises to be one heck of a ride. Disgraced former FBI agent Ava Cross has become a hard-drinking, down-on-her-luck private investigator plumbing the depths of despair when a new client crosses her threshold with a missing-child case that will change the course of her career, her life, and maybe even the fabric of reality. I’d tell you to buckle up for this wild adventure, but it wouldn’t do any good—nothing could prepare you for the insanity that ensues as Ava embarks on a search for a missing child only to have to rescue several children and ultimately a whole town from certain annihilation. Fortunately, she has some good back-up to help her along the way, but the stakes are high, and so is the cost for their involvement. I highly recommend this captivating adventure for all the armchair thrill-seekers out there. Personally, I am off to start on the next book in this series.
A different kind of dimensional horror. The MC is a little repetitive in her fears but the horror is real. A modern pied piper with a mix of dimensional pseudo science like magic. This isn't a favorite genre of mine, but it could be even more interesting in the next novel if the secondary characters grow and and another layer of complexity to the story.
Wow, first one in a new series and it’s a little cracker. Ava is one serous badass. I was full committed and engrossed in the story right from the off. I loved it. Twist and turns and all sorts of shenanigans right the way through. What on earth (or not) are we going to get in book two. Cannot wait to find out. Highly recommended.
