This was a pretty good dark erotic read that I liked a lot. When twenty-two year-old Jenna Lang went in to Archer Enterprises for a job, she doesn't expect her entire world to be turned upside-down. Jenna is a computer wizard who has her own business and is recruited by billionaire Rylan Archer. Jenna has a horrible past and has many walls up to protect her. Rylan wants Jenna and also for Jenna to work for him. Jenna doesn't do relationships so Jenna decides to work for Rylan since he won't fraternize with his employees. She feels that will keep her safe from him. However the darkness comes and Jenna is determined to beat this obstacle too. Rylan is the first man to truly make her question her commitment to avoiding anything beyond a one night stand. After he witnesses Jenna having a panic attack, he takes care of her, instinctively knowing just how to handle her in her emotional state. Once she has recovered, he decides to lay his cards on the table letting her know he would like to try a real relationship with her if she is willing to give it a chance. I liked both of these character's the sex scenes in this book were hot. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling.

SECOND REVIEW
I’m going to have to eat some crow here and apologize to the author and to you my review readers. I totally misjudged this book. I was too hasty on my DNF.
I went on to read the conclusion and recognized that maybe the story didn’t go the way I expected. I’ve now fully read the book and really appreciate it. Like is maybe a bit too far: Emma certainly had a traumatic childhood and that the trauma was revisited in the storyline of the book is disturbing.
I’m keeping my 5 Star rating: the book’s well written, the characters real, the love interests real, the storyline too plausible. It’s troubling when Emma can’t shake her past, but it’s a triumph that she presses on to a happy ending. I would have preferred to hear more from Rylan as to why he was smitten with Emma, but it was very clear that he was.
A very good but sometimes hard story. Definitely 5 Stars!

I’ve stopped reading this book at about 45%. It is very well written with an interesting, if somewhat gruesome storyline.
Rylan is a billionaire. He hands-on runs his own hi-tech company. Emma is a computer security wiz and Rylan wants to hire her. He also wants to bed her.
Emma is cautious and likes running her own personal software consulting firm. The book is primarily from Emma’s perspective.
Emma was badly abused as a child both physically and sexually. The reading of that piece is troubling to me.
For me, that Rylan wants Emma to enter into a D/s relationship with him that includes a wider range of BDSM elements is a really bad idea. He’s just shown her his large playroom that is fully equipped.
I stopped here. I feel having a woman so scarred enter into a D/s relationship is just a bad idea, and I don’t want to read it. She already has vivid nightmares and wakes up screaming.
So 5 Stars for the writing, it’s just not for me.

I don’t think I’ve ever read a sweeter, gentler alpha-dom, who was so careful with his heroine. This seriously abused heroine needed him.

After reading Broken Pleasures (the prequel), I couldn't wait to get my hands on Forbidden Pleasures to see what made Jenna the way she was. OH BOY, do you find out in this book!!! Jenna has a very disturbing past that she's not willing to share. She goes to work for Rylan and says she'll never sleep with him again, that it'll be strictly business..yea right. This book has it all....it's sweet, very sexual, dark, and mysterious! All of my favorite things rolled up in one book! I've read all of M.S. Parker's books, and this, in my opinion, was the best one yet!!! This is a MUST READ book! I'm looking forward to the novella from Rylan's point of view!! GREAT book M.S. Parker! 5 stars isn't enough, wish I could give more!!

You are NOT going to want to miss out on this book! I’m serious! I have been a fangirl of MS Parker for a while now and each book gets better and better and better. I don’t know how she is going to top this one but I am eager to find out. This book blew me away.
In the prequel, we get small glances into Jenna’s past. We get enough to know that something very dark is lurking there. Once you find out the full story, you will be shocked beyond words. I can’t imagine going through what she did and surviving. It made me want to hunt people down and do unspeakable things to them...mainly, Jenna’s mother.
Jenna has been coping with her past the best one could. She has been hopping from one lover to another, never more than one time. She always has to be in control or it could trigger something from her past. When she meets Rylan, she gets the first glimpse that she could have more in her life. However, since they work together, she doesn’t want to jeopardize her career and her reputation. She worked hard to get where she is. Well tell that to her wandering thoughts. Jenna can’t seem to shake the memories of their one night together.
When Rylan makes it obvious that he wants more too, will Jenna be able to risk it? Will she be able to bare her soul to him and open her heart for the first time? Rylan has his own skeletons. Can Jenna handle those? So many questions! Read the book to get the answers. Also an added bonus to make the book even more shocking, darkness is lurking and watching her and she doesn’t see it coming until BAM it’s there. My heart stopped for a few moments when that came boiling to a head.
MUST read. If you’re a fan of MS Parker already, I’m sure I don’t have to sell it to you. If you haven’t read anything from her yet, I’d highly recommend it. She is one of my favorite authors. She can write erotic like it’s nobody’s business. Behind all the extremely hot and steamy sexual scenes are amazing stories. They are all well written and full of WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT?!?!?!?! Her women are not damsels in distress but beautifully broken to some degree and strong. Her men are sexy as sin and you can’t help but want to dry hump their legs. Love this woman’s work! After getting to read the novella of Broken Pleasures I fell in love with Jenna and Rylan. The way that Jenna handles herself as well as others is amazing considering all that she has endured throughout her young life. The prequel gives us a glimpse into Jenna's past and why she handles, people, sex, and overall situations the way that she does.
I like how M.S. Parker allowed us to see the vulnerable side of Jenna in Forbidden Pleasures. She gave us a little more insight into what has actually taken place to make her the way that she is as a complete person. The amazing thing is, is that even though this book keeps you wondering if Jenna and Rylan will connect again or just become good friends. Not only do you feel the draw between them, the way that he seems to see beyond the exterior layers of Jenna is what makes him the man he is and draws some trust from her.
As we move more into the story the way that M.S. Parker trips us up from everything we thought we knew is a phenomenal twist. I have to say she definitely caught me off guard. To say that I want to see what will happen between Jenna and Rylan is an understatement. I still have not had my thirst quenched for this series.

Such a fantastic gripping read !
Jenna Lang, the girl with a past to make you cry, the only way she knows how to deal with her life is to have no strings, random sex with random strangers with her in complete control each and every time. She is highly intelligent and slightly way out with her blue hair, now at such a young age she is running her own software consultancy company. She's happy surviving life the only way she knows, reliant upon no-one that is until she meets Rylan, then the life she knows is turned upside down, will she let Rylan in ?
M S Parker has done it again, oh my! what a book, I felt the emotions, the chemistry, the anxiety, everything. Jenna's had a very hard life and deserves to find a decent man who can give her everything she needs, will Rylan be the man who can give her everything she needs including trust and patience ?
I just couldn't stop reading this book, it was very dark and traumatic reading in places. I loved this book and was kind of sad when it finished - I would've so liked an epilogue. A really well written, gripping and fantastic read.

Whew... I've read a lot of books since I read the prequel to Forbidden Pleasures, but it shows just how good a story M.S. Parker weaves when as soon as I picked up Forbidden Pleasures I instantly remembered everything about both main characters.
This was everything I expected it to be and more. I absolutely love how realistic the characters are and how you become attached to them wanting things to work for them because you think of them as real people with real pain in the their past they are working to overcome.
I hurt for Jenna and her past, but Rylan is strong enough to help her heal even when her past comes back to haunt her at the most unexpected time. Rylan is the perfect combination of strength and patience with a tiny twist of dominance and stubbornness.
I literally read this in one sitting. I couldn't put it down.
Another absolutely fabulous book.. Good job M.S. Parker! Can't wait for more!

Jenna Lang had a vicious childhood none of us can understand unless you have gone through it yourself .trying to find a way through this past she meets rylan through his trust she finds love and exception. Will she find that this love is meant to last? I love m.s.parker books and always find her writing exceptional .this book is the second of Broken pleasures that was found to be controversial. the story has more information of Jenna Lang's childhood and who she is now ,though this story opens up truths to this day that childhood abuse is still a big issue and to help by protecting and knowledge that this does exists. this is a must read.

Beyond outstanding. Jenna's emotional scars run deep. Will Rylan help her overcome her fears? Will Jenna share her story? M. S. Parker created incredibly awesome, sexy, steamy scenes that had me fanning myself. However, underneath all the romance you can feel the tormented life that Jenna lived through. Rylan's ability to be patient with Jenna is what just might save her. This book details topics that shouldn't have to be told. Unfortunately, life is hard and cynical at times. I thought Forbidden Pleasure was written exquisitely and with compassion. If I could, 10 stars!

wow. I don't know where to start. fair warning....this is a very dark & twisted story. Ms. Parket grabs you from the first page & she doesn't let go, not even after you finish the book.

Can we PLEASE...
Okay, first the positives:
1. I found zero errors in structure, syntax, grammar or spelling. This is a huge plus.
2. The characters are at least well constructed and plausible, with a glaring exception that I will address momentarily.
3. The eroticism was very present but not overdone. Put another way, it's sexy without being smutty.
Now, why three stars?
For the love of everything, can we PLEASE stop modelling every BDSM novel on Fifty Shades? No, really. Young and intelligent woman, extremely attractive billionaire who turns out to be a dominant, she is resistant, he is persistent. It's been DONE! So we have a negative one star right there and it was almost a negative two.
Second, and this actually put me off even more than the Fifty Shades clone issue, is that Jenna is a sex abuse survivor who, for no good reason I could see, willingly submits to what, for a person who survived the abuse she seems to have, would be a massive PTSD trigger. Put simply, the author transferred the Christian Grey abuse to the female lead and gave no thought to how it would (fail to) work.
This book skates closely to a Don't Bother Reading level review. It is well written structurally but is simultaneously unoriginal and completely implausible.

This is the 1st full book in the Pleasure series and I highly recommend reading Broken Pleasure, the 1st novella of the series before reading this book.
Jenna Lang had her life planned out and none of her plans included Rylan Archer. When Jenna was unexpectedly offered a job at Archer Enterprises she thought she could use this to keep Rylan at bay. Not everything goes according to plan and when other people step in the way of these two, Jenna has to decide if it’s worth risking everything for a chance to be with the only man who has ever gotten to her.
I was given this in exchange for an honest review.
We first met Jenna Lang in Broken Pleasure and that’s when we learn that Jenna has overcome some pretty horrific things in her life and she is a better stronger person for it. She’s done an incredible job trying to move on but her new boss Rylan isn’t like any other man she’s met. He’s the only one who has gotten past her walls. Working for him was supposed to keep her feelings and him at bay but the more time Rylan spends apart from Jenna the more she wants him in her life. She becomes frustrated with the situation, so she uses Christophe to make Rylan jealous as Emmaline had been clinging to him. Of course as we all know that plans like this backfire but for Jenna, when thing went bad they did in a bad way.
Rylan had been hurt before so he kept things casual. His particular taste in sexual relationship weren’t for everyone. He kept things casual with women but there was just something about Jenna he couldn’t resist. Fighting his own attraction, to her he worked hard to keep his distance from her at her request. Seeing his assist Christophe always around her office didn’t sit well with him. He wanted Jenna for himself but she was fighting what she was feeling. The Alpha male and dominant side of him was telling him to take what was his but he knew she had to come to him on her own terms.
This is the 1st full novel in the Pleasure series and it’s off to an amazing start. We got to know Jenna and Rylan a bit in the novella Broken Pleasure but this novel takes it to a whole new level. Jenna’s past has put her on guard with everyone she meets so when Rylan seems to be the only man that she can’t stop thinking about she agrees to work for him to keep him at a distance. Obviously this doesn’t work and the chemistry between these two explodes into passion. Rylan introduces Jenna to his dominant side slowly to see how she reacts. He knows she’s hiding her past from him but by earning her trust he knows she will let him in. The problem is he’s not the only one who has an interest in Jenna. She may have change how she looked but her past always seems to catch up with her. Just when you think these two finally start moving forward M. S. Parker throws a twist in the plot that you don’t see coming. There were times when I couldn’t stay put as what was unfolding in the book left me feeling anxious and with the need to keep reading to find out what happens next. This is a home run in my books and I look forward to reading His Pleasure to get Rylan history and then Dark Pleasure to see where M.S. Parker is taking Rylan and Jenna next.

We first met Jenna Lang in Broken Pleasure and that’s when we learn that Jenna has overcome some pretty horrific things in her life and she is a better stronger person for it. She’s done an incredible job trying to move on but her new boss Rylan isn’t like any other man she’s met. He’s the only one who has gotten past her walls. Working for him was supposed to keep her feelings and him at bay but the more time Rylan spends apart from Jenna the more she wants him in her life. She becomes frustrated with the situation, so she uses Christophe to make Rylan jealous as Emmaline had been clinging to him. Of course as we all know that plans like this backfire but for Jenna, when thing went bad they did in a bad way.
Rylan had been hurt before so he kept things casual. His particular taste in sexual relationship weren’t for everyone. He kept things casual with women but there was just something about Jenna he couldn’t resist. Fighting his own attraction, to her he worked hard to keep his distance from her at her request. Seeing his assist Christophe always around her office didn’t sit well with him. He wanted Jenna for himself but she was fighting what she was feeling. The Alpha male and dominant side of him was telling him to take what was his but he knew she had to come to him on her own terms.

This is the 1st full book in the Pleasure series and I highly recommend reading Broken Pleasure, the 1st novella of the series before reading this book.

I enjoyed the prequel Broken Pleasures and was looking forward to the continuation of Jenna and Rylan's story in a full length novel. Although I was disappointed that the first 30% of the book was just the prequel I had already read, the rest of the book was worth it.
Jenna's history is not something she talks about- EVER- although it still finds a way to haunt her in her nightmares. The full extent of what she suffered is appalling and is revealed little by little during the story. Her choices regarding her appearance, lack of close relationships, and her employment are all dictated by her childhood.
Rylan is the first man to truly make her question her commitment to avoiding anything beyond a one night stand. Although they are trying to keep their distance and maintain an employee/ employer relationship only, she can't fight the pull toward him every time he is in her vicinity. After he witnesses Jenna having a panic attack, he takes care of her, instinctively knowing just how to handle her in her emotional state. Once she has recovered, he decides to lay his cards on the table letting her know he would like to try a real relationship with her if she is willing to give it a chance. After a lot of thought until she nearly drives herself to distraction, she realizes she feels safe with him in a way she hasn't with anyone else in a very long time and agrees.
You can just feel her turmoil boiling beneath the surface at first; then she slowly starts to adjust and relax, allowing her to consider a future she never really gave much thought to previously. Rylan is one of my favorite men that Ms. Parker has written to date. He is rich, handsome and successful, but he is also hot, sweet, considerate, infinitely patient and caring, and generally a wonderful person. Their interactions range from steamy to scorching, and although he prefers incorporating the BDSM lifestyle into his life, he is willing to forgo it for Jenna. He doesn't know exactly what happened in her past and doesn't pressure her to tell him. but he recognizes that even if she came to trust him enough to try certain aspects of playing, it may be too much of a trigger for her.
Of course the past never stays buried no matter what lengths you go to and that is exactly the case here. We are left with the Rylan and Jenna being in a good place, but it feels like there is plenty of unfinished business to still be explored in the form of Rylan's family and a particularly catty employee just to name a few.

NOT ENOUGH STARS !! For real I am blown away. I loved that the prequel was included in case we need a reminder !! But honestly I couldn't forget Rylan and Jenna if I tried !! Once again M.S. has a talent for the steam and hotness she provides us and she provides plenty but there is always so much more to her stories than that. This is no different , being a full length novel there is everything we need without the risk of being bored or overwhelmed. I cannot wait to read Rylan's POV and again anything else from this author because I am hooked and a fan for life !!
Jenna is now working for Rylan and their interactions are a little odd. After their hot and steamy night how do you go to work on a daily basis and not have that stuff on repeat !! Jenna has some serious past issues , we know little about her but we do know it all revolved around her horrible mother and left her with panic attacks , nightmares and fear of trusting and being close to people. Once Rylan finally has her alone again Jenna panics and this is the point that Rylan decides to invest in her and help her anyway he can because he cannot help but feel for her , he is smitten and it is sweet. OMG Rylan is just so charming and amazing. He definitely has his alpha tendencies and he prefers his kink but yet he has this open honesty with jenna and you just can't help fall in love with him. This is a big problem for Jenna because this is not a feeling she has ever experienced. They take it slow-ish but Jenna finds everything about Rylan makes her feel safe and so she goes with it and it is a beautiful thing. There are a few hurdles by way of family/friends and of course the work place but they find their way and have some fun being sneaky !! There is no denying their chemistry but Rylan wants so much more and will do anything to have it. Again he really is a gem. One horrible event sends Jenna into her past and you won't believe who and what goes on. OMG it is scary , crazy , heartbreaking but then healing all at once. This event causes Jenna to open up and tell Rylan everything. It is just sad , I was shocked at the story of her past , sick to think this stuff really happens. Of course Rylan is amazing and they go on to have their happiness and it is well deserved !!

Rylan Archer is the CEO of a major software company, he’s young, wealthy, and he wants to employ Jenna, knowing her skills would be valuable to his company. But from the second that the pair see each other, something else surfaces, and a mutual sexual desire is sparked between them.
They spend the night together, and things start to develop between them. But Jenna has secrets, dark events that tortured her throughout her childhood, thing that left deep scars, physically and mentally. Can Jenna do the unthinkable, and trust? Can she allow herself to be truly loved, and feel worthy? Rylan certainly believes he’s the man for the job.
I really enjoyed this book. While certain elements (rich, young CEO with a passion for BDSM) have been done before, the quality of the characters and the richness of their stories make it very easy to let them pull you into their world. Rylan’s patience with Jenna is moving and his control when she needs it immediately illustrates just how much he cares for her, and how their story can progress. They were engaging characters, I wanted to know more of Jenna’s history, I was willing her almost from the beginning to let go that tiny bit and see where it would take her and Rylan. There was a perfect balance of everything. Just enough sex to keep you hot, just enough secrets to keep you wondering, and just enough peril to have your heart race!

This well written story is more than what this title suggests. This is the story of a girl who was damaged by thirteen years of constant abuse, with no one to care and love her, and once she was saved from this horrible environment, decided to change her life.
Jenna lives in her own bubble. She has re-invented herself, studied and received her masters degree, and now she provides an invaluable service to companies with computer problems. She works best alone and without much human interaction. She does not get along well with others.
Sex for her is a release. You hook-up, immediately after you dress and leave. No need for names or conversations. This is just a necessary evil to relieve some stress. She is in control; she seduces the target; she call the shots.
The job at Archer Enterprises is different. The CEO keeps her under his commanding eye, and although he is very nice, she cannot help but feel uncomfortable. She senses there is more than the job at hand going on and she is definitely correct.
Ryland Archer...what can we say? He is brilliant, gorgeous, successful and he is definitely intrigued by Jenna. He is the catalyst in this story to bringing down the walls Jenna has built around her. It is his patience, deep understanding, and intrinsic kindness that extends to her the feeling of safety and protection.
You will not be able to put this book down. This is a story of survival at its most primal level. The past never stays in the past. It always rises to haunt and create a clear and present danger from which you will have to nail your way through to survival. Do not miss this book!

This book starts off right where the prequel left off. Jenna has agreed to work at Archer enterprises hoping that it will draw a line that they can’t be together. She is okay with this at first because Rylan agrees to what he wants but after a while she can’t take it anymore. She is having trouble dealing with her feeling and him flirting with other people or what she thinks is flirting. After a really bad panic attack in an elevator she has no choice but to explain some of her past to Rylan. Instead of being totally freaked out by her panic attack he was helpful. He took care of her and made sure she was okay. He didn’t just drop her off and the E.R. like he could have. Rylan surprises Jenna by how he acts when she tells him a little bit about her past. In wanted to protect her and make sure she was okay. He wanted to know what he could do, what she wanted him to do. No one had ever asked her that before. She finds herself wanting to get closer to Rylan. After that night she realizes that she feels safe with Rylan something she thought she would never feel around a man again. I really like this series and can’t wait to read more. Rylan is great; he is so patient and caring with Jenna. She is everything to him and he will do anything for her. Jenna had a horrible childhood and went through things I can’t even imagine. I loved how she found some kind of peace with Rylan. That she found someone she could feel at ease with. I am excited to read more about their story in the next book. I am really pulling for them. I would like to get to learn more about Rylan.

The last thing that Jenna Lang expected when she went to work for Rylan Archer was for him to be invading her mind but that's exactly what happened, especially after one kiss which made her run away. Rylan Archer on the other hand was quite intrigued by Jenna as soon as she walked in, he could tell that by her appearance that she was hiding something but that she was a stronger person. He wants to know more about her and he makes is very clear to her but now it's up to her whether she is going to risk letting someone in.
Rylan Archer is completely smitten with Jenna but he can tell something happened a while back for the way she acts now, he has no intention of hurting her but he just wants to protect her so when he does hire her to work at his company he is completely blown away by her computer skills, he hasn't exactly had a stable relationship because of having his heart broken.
While Jenna is working for Rylan, one of his colleagues starts to be really nice to her, at first it seems harmless and just a way to welcome her to the company but then things start to become a little strange. Christophe started to become way too friendly for her liking, he kept trying to do things for her when they weren't necessary, it even got to the point that Jenna felt like she was being stalked but she kept it to herself. Will this all turn out to be harmless or will it put Jenna in danger.
You honestly don't want to miss the chance to see if Jenna is willing to risk it all for Rylan, after reading the prequel Broken Pleasures I honestly couldn't wait to see what the rest of this series hand in store. You won't regret picking up this book.

THIS IS A MUST READ AND IF THERE WERE MORE STARS TO GIVE THIS WOULD NEED AT LEAST TEN MORE
I had to literally take time to think about how to write my review for this book and not because I didn't like the book its because its that good...no its that GREAT of a book.
Forbidden Pleasures picks up where the prequel left off and that's with Jenna accepting Rylans offer of a job at Archer industires, but when Jenna accepted the job she thought it was so that she would be able to resist Rylan and her growing attraction to him after their night of passion at the computer techs conference. But taking the job did the opposite.
When Jenna finds herself in Rylans apartment after a panic attack at work because Rylan knew what she was going through she feels safe in his and even safer sleeping in his arms for the night. When Rylan gives her the tour of the house and shows her his playroom and sends her home with a decision to make about whether she wants to have strictly a business relationship or one that includes him and the playroom. Jenna comes to realize that Rylan is what she wants and she also wants the playroom.
At work Jenna feels like something is wrong with Rylans assistant Christophe as he is overly friendly but she brushes it off with the fact that she thinks he just has a crush on her, but when things go wrong and Christophe is at the heart of it will Rylan be able to help her in time. And when Jenna bears all will Rylan stay or run in the opposite direction???

M.S. Parker’s Forbidden Pleasures is as hot as her other books. Rylan’s and Jenna’s relationship builds as Jenna begins to trust Rylan also giving him permission to show her his dominant sexual preferences. Overall, the story is good; there is a lot of hot scenes and a bit of suspense in story line. Parker’s first book in the Pleasures series does not disappoint. There is also is also Pleasures #0.5 and Pleasures #1.5 that can read in series; not necessary but it does more to explain why Rylan and Jenna are the way that they are. I thought Forbidden Pleasures #1 was a good book and would recommend it.
