Are you exhausted by the pressure to ‘have it all’?

In a push and rush culture that rewards entrenched cultural narratives like the need to be exceptional and the drive to optimise, our relentless obsession with ‘more’ can often lead to chronic overperformance and burnout.

Life. Reclaimed provides a unique framework for understanding the root causes of this efficiency mindset and navigates the gap between the overwhelming pressure to excel and how to succeed in a way that keeps you sane, whole, and healthy.

Connecting overperformance to all areas of life, including love, family, and work, Pippa Grange introduces the idea of Regenerative Performance – a sustainable, cyclical approach to success that will help you shed performative behaviours, dismantle false goals, connect with your purpose, and liberate you from the productivity treadmill.

You will come away empowered, hopeful and ready to live the life you have always wanted, rather than merely performing the life you think you should have.

I like this book and it grew on me more as I read it. As I got past the what is happening and got to the what to do about it I felt quite inspired. I am a bereavement focused counsellor so I found it really interesting to hear burnout described as a living loss by the grief guru Julia Samuel. I found the comments in western culture really interesting and I wonder if we would feel better if we moved to a more collectivist society. I also loved the term psychological microbiome and that is something I will take with me. Finally, anyone who quotes the wisdom of Winnie the Pooh is ok by me. Thanks to NetGalley and DK Red for the ARC.

I heard Pippa on Bruce Daisley's podcast and the book intrigued me. She pulls together and distills a lot of great wisdom, speaking into burnout culture.

I've identified a few changes I want to make to my lifestyle as a result, which is the mark of any good non fiction book.

It’s the sort of book that is talking directly to you, even if you don’t want it to be. Pippa talks directly to modern day challenges with performance, and I’m better for reading it.
