Jace Avery is a man with more than a few problems. Although the son of a millionaire, he still has to deal with a patronizing father, a beautiful, yet distant girlfriend, and a brother who is always out to get him. Only one thing is his safe haven from all of it; his guardian angel, Lily. She is both a colleague, and a friend. After a series of disasters, she decides to take Jace on the wildest ride of his life; revealing secrets of her own, and turning him into the powerful man he was meant to be.
This is my first book by SC Edwards although I have known of her work for a while and I have her two other books in my kindle library.
Jace Avery is a good man, with a good heart. However, he allows his family and girlfriend to walk all over him.
Lily is his friend and she is on his side because she sees him for who he really is. She sees the greatness inside of him, if only he could stand up to his family and not allow them to dictate to him at every turn. His brother in particular goes out of his way on every occasion to try and undermined him at every turn. When his brother takes his schemes one step too far he turns to his good friend Lily to help him understand the sudden twists and turns his life has taken.
Lily shows Jace that she has feelings for him and helps him be dominant and take charge in the bedroom so he can be dominant and take charge in all the other areas of his life.
The story is told mainly from Jace’s point of view and although this story is described as a romance/erotic story, I see this more of a journey of self-discovery by Jace about himself. He has more within him than he realised and he just needed someone to believe in him and have his back and then he could emerge with all the qualities that were laying dormant within himself.
The story did start off a little on the slow side for me and it took me a while to get into the story. The author uses a lot of descriptive text when setting the scene/background of the story and very descriptive stories always take me a while to get into. However, I am glad I persevered and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Jace come into his own with the love and support of Lily by his side.
Very difficult read. Choppy storyline with blurry connections between characters. Mismatched dialogue. I couldn’t fall into the plot. Not enjoyable. I was excited to read about a round heroine but just couldn’t get into this.
This is a good solid story, that's well executed so you don't get a sense of their is a lasp in the story. This is a kind of coming of age story for the two leading men in this story. The action is hot and the drama is not so over the top you roll your eyes.Overall time well spent.
It wasn't the best book I've ever read, but it was a good one. I loved that there as a real storyline, and not just sex. I'm also grateful the author wrapped up the ending by letting us know what happened to the characters, she didn't leave me guessing, because I'm getting real tired of the serials.
