An all-new steamy and angsty ice hockey romance from the USA Today & Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Tracy Lorraine.
One night. One secret. Nine months to fall for real.
Everett Donnelly. Hockey god. PR nightmare. And now … my baby daddy.
I don’t even like sports. I only went to the game for my best friend’s birthday, and I had no idea who he was when I pulled on his jersey. He noticed me anyway.
With his name and number across my back, he decided I was his—for one night only.
No promises. No numbers.
Just a night of passion we both walked away from. Until the positive pregnancy test. Now I’m chasing down a man known for his one-night stands with a career already hanging by a thread.
The last thing he needs is me … or the baby growing inside me.
But neither of us saw the offer coming.
A deal that could put my life back on track—and save his public image.
All I have to do is fake it.
Except the longer we pretend, the harder it is to ignore what’s becoming very real.
My belly is growing. So are my feelings.
And suddenly, this arrangement is starting to feel like the most dangerous play of all.

Tracy Lorraine is a M/F and M/M contemporary romance author. Tracy has just turned thirty and lives in a cute Cotswold village in England with her husband, baby girl and lovable but slightly crazy dog. Having always been a bookaholic with her head stuck in her Kindle Tracy decided to try her hand at a story idea she dreamt up and hasn’t looked back since.
This emotionally charged hockey romance delivers exactly what fans of the “bad boy with a soft heart” trope crave—angst, vulnerability, and a love story built on second chances neither character believes they deserve.
Did i enjoy this book? It was a decent read. Was it my favourite TL Book? No.
The story was sweet enough. Both MCs were cute. However, It was missing some angst for me and I generally was just underwhelmed.
My biggest issue is I am a continuity freak. I hate it when details change mid story and I think maybe this was my problem with this book. At the start Retts eyes were described as icy blue, multiple times, then half way through they changed to chocolatey brown. Everytime his eyes were mentioned I cringed and I think it was spoilt for me. I know its petty and unimportant but its how my brain works.
Id still recommend reading this book even if its just to keep up with the other Vipers. I will be reading Haydens when it comes out.

Argumento:
Una noche. Un secreto. Nueve meses para enamorarse de verdad.
Everett Donnelly.
Yo me hubiera marchado.
This is a very good story. When it started, I didn't think there could be any redeeming qualities in Everett Donnelly or Rett, as his friends called him. He is the newest ego oops, bad boy trade to the LA Vipers Hockey Team, where his best friend Linc plays. Don’t get me wrong he’s good at his job, however, he has a problem with being too aggressive. Nobody takes the time to see the huge cinnamon roll he is beneath that thunderous hockey D-man’s intensity brings. But you will see the biggest transformation from Rett that even surprised him at times. However, he has suffered from something since childhood that has hindered his coping with situations. But the wake-up call he’s about to get starts to slowly change that. Even with all his self-doubt, it is an absolute joy to watch his transformation. Making this book a page turner.
You see Beatrice Walsh, Bea to her friends, was a woman who had a hard time taking help from anyone. She was never able to afford help from her own family, getting help from outsiders just wasn’t done. That is except her bestie, Sienna. And well, she was their boss, there was going to be a birthday bash to honor Sienna. It was the two of them and all the gals from Bea’s salon who were all friends. They went to dinner, got presents from the birthday girl, hockey jerseys hers had Donnelly on the back. Then they were all presented with tickets to the hockey game that night. Bea knows nothing about hockey. However, with a few drinks, she learned on the fly. During one play, Rett gets thrust up against the boards. That's when they make eye contact. She felt a chill, especially when he winked. Rett actually did notice her for sure, he even looked for her amongst the women outside the locker, nope.
Then at the club, they like going afterward, nothing. Later he happens to see her and her friends on the bottom level dancing together. So he and some of the guys join them. As first impressions go, let's just say theirs wasn’t all that great. Remember she has no idea who he is other than the guy she saw play hockey, once. He thinks she is a fan with her wearing his Jersey to the game. So he starts talking to her like a puck bunny, she tells him to take a hike, and when that doesn't work she walks away. They spar for a bit, he tries to get her to go up to the VIP section, but she says, No! That is until the girls get asked by the other guys, then she relents. He takes her on a walk down a long dark hallway in the club, and both fall prey to a carnal need, trying to fill that void with a late-night hookup and partying. But coldly, devoid of emotion, and callously he states, “If I weren’t so impatient to get inside you, I’d have you on your knees, feeding you my D.”
“Maybe next time,” she says. “There won’t be a next time. I’m not that man.” If she were sensible, she’d put a stop to this right now. But she’s not sensible. “Do not go into this thinking it’s anything but mindless pleasure. If you think anything else, walk away right now.” His warning hits her square in the chest, but it’s not enough to stop her. Willing to play him at his own game. “Maybe you’ll be the one who comes after me begging for me to suck your D.” “Hmm, yeah. Maybe,” he mumbles, not believing a word. All was good until then, but then vomiting started. This one hookup lands him in deep waters, now he has to sink or swim. This hookup, this one woman changes his life forever, she’s the component that gets Rett to stop and really take a long hard look at his life and face the fork in the road.
Does he choose the road of continued bad decisions with equally unknown consequences or the road that holds unimagined dreams? The more he gets to know Bea, could only lead to a peaceful, loving, joyful, and a life that could be his. His transformation is gradual, and it's because he knows Bea is like a skittish cat. Even though he can’t say the words he shows it in everything he does for her and the baby. But she shows him too, by the way she is able to pull him out of his emotional shell. She fights him at every turn when he wants to give, buy, or do things for her. She is not a taker, and she proves that to him daily. They are perfect for each other.
Everett, better known as Rett, is a famous hockey player and the definition of a classic playboy. He never really sees the same woman more than once and has absolutely no interest in being in a relationship. One night while out partying, he meets Beatrice, who barely shows any interest in him at all, something he immediately sees as a challenge. The two end up having a ons, and afterward, they go their separate ways. At least for a while. Not long later, Beatrice finds out that she’s pregnant and tries everything she can to get in contact with him. Rett struggles badly with the situation because, in his mind, they had been careful, and he doesn’t know whether he can fully trust her. A DNA test eventually confirms that the baby is his, and from that point on, he genuinely starts trying to get to know Beatrice better.
I actually enjoyed parts of their dynamic, especially seeing Rett slowly step outside of his comfort zone and attempt to take responsibility in a situation he never imagined himself in. However, there were also aspects of the story that felt inconsistent to me. For example, Rett repeatedly says that he hadn’t been with anyone else after Beatrice and that she was the last woman he was involved with, yet earlier in the book she sees him making out with someone else at the club. That contradiction was never fully clarified, which left me feeling a bit confused about his character and intentions. Another thing that disappointed me was the fake engagement trope. It was talked about briefly, but there never actually was a real fake engagement storyline, which felt misleading considering how much potential that trope could have added to the story. I also struggled with Rett’s sudden transformation from carefree playboy to committed and emotionally invested future father. The change happened very quickly, and for me, it never felt fully believable or emotionally developed. I was missing more vulnerability, deeper conversations, and moments that truly showed his internal growth and emotional conflict. Because of that, the emotional depth of the relationship felt lacking overall. It also felt like relatively little happened considering how long the book was. A lot of the story focused on conversations, inner thoughts, and the slow development of their relationship, but I kept waiting for more emotional depth and bigger moments that never fully came. I especially felt like the emotional payoff at the end was missing. For such a long book, I would have loved to see more of their life after everything was resolved, especially the birth of the baby, them adjusting to parenthood together, and more scenes that truly showed them growing into a family. The ending didn’t feel fully complete to me because it stopped before reaching the moments I had emotionally been waiting for the entire book.
Rett Donnelly has the biggest emotional growth of all of his teammates. Yes, the bad boy of the LA Vipers is a huge cinnamon roll underneath all that growly hockey D-man energy. Don't get me wrong, I love Bea and her girl squad, but Rett and his transformation, his vulnerability, the way he woke up to his full potential is what made Faking the Pucking Shot a total page-turner read. 😍
Rett Donnelly was traded to the Vipers mid season and he should be happy to be back in his home town, playing for his home team, but he feels like he's missing something even when the Vipers are on a winning streak, headed straight for the cup. He tries to fill that void with late night hookups and partying, but instead it only lands him in hot water. It isn't until one of these late night hookups, one with a woman that changes his life for ever that Rett stops and really takes a long hard look at his life and faces that fork in the road; does he keep heading down the one with bad decisions or take the one that leads to consequences he never once dreamed of, but ultimately wants more than anything he ever could have hoped for.
I loved the transformation that Rett went through, he isn't really a bad guy, he just never had the motivation to be a good one either. I mean why give up the night life when no one asks you to...right? I will admit I wasn't a fan of Rett in the beginning, but by the end I was shouting his name from the rafters and loving everything about this burnt marshmallow. While he loved his family and fought hard to win for whatever team he was playing on, Rett didn't really have a purpose outside of hockey, that is until he met and fell for Bea and their baby. ❤️🔥His true colors really bleed through in the best and sweetest ways.
Beatrice Walsh has dreams and goals and becoming a mother wasn’t exactly on her bingo card. The crazy night she had with Rett was supposed to be just that, one night, but finding out that her one night stand created a baby means she's now has to face the reality of not only becoming a mother, but also telling the father. Bea is logical, realistic, and a bit stubborn. Bea has been on her own and taking care of herself for a while. She isn't quick to jump at Rett's help, nor does she want to muddle feelings with co-parenting. She isn’t looking for love or handouts, but she truly believes that Everett should be involved in this baby's life if he chooses to be. While it was a bit frustrating to watch her contact him, it all makes sense in the long run and I appreciated her tenacity.
Bea came with her own girl squad and made me wonder if there could be a love match with any Vipers down the line, but up next is Monroe and his story already is shaping up to be a heart breaker.
First off wow! I was blown away by “Faking the Pucking Shot”, I’ve read all the books in the LA Vipers and they’ve been good, but I’m officially a fan TRACY LORRAINe fan and will be reading anything she writes.
This book starts with Bea convincing and her best friends attending an LA Vipers hockey game to celebrate a birthday. Bea is not much of a hockey fan, but everything changes when she meets Retts eyes . There’s an undeniable spark between from the moment their eyes lock. Bea doesn’t think much of it… until she runs into Rett again at a club. What follows is an unforgettable night neither of them will forget.
This story is filled with passion, heartbreak, and emotional depth. When Bea discovers she’s accidentally pregnant, things become far from perfect. She struggles to get in touch with Rett, and when she finally does, he’s unsure about the baby, fatherhood, and about whether he’s ready for any of it.
What I loved most about this book is how realistic it felt. The author doesn’t gloss over the complexity of an accidental one-night-stand pregnancy. Rett and Bea’s journey isn’t easy, and their relationship doesn’t magically fall into place once the pregnancy is revealed. Instead, they go through real struggles and growing pains, which makes their story feel authentic and grounded.
By the end, their happily ever after truly feels earned. It’s not perfect, but it’s built on growth, understanding, and effort, which makes it all the more satisfying.
I also really admired Bea. She’s strong, resilient, and doesn’t lose herself even when Rett falters. Her strength carries so much of the emotional weight of the story, and it made me root for her even more.
Rett’s character. At first, he gives off major fuck boy vibes, and it’s easy to assume he’s just another stereotype (reformed play boy 🙄). But as we get to know him, you see how human he really is. He genuinely cares about all those around him. he is just scared. Scared of failing Bea, their baby, and the people around him. That vulnerability made me love him so much more.
We all love a good sesss scene, but what’s more satisfying to me is seeing emotional depth between characters. Where they actually talk, build real chemistry, and don’t rely on just lust to create a lasting, happily-ever-after love.
Overall, this was an emotional, and how realistic the situation was made this book a winner. I recommend this book to everyone! Especially hockey lovers or anyone in a slump looking for a new author/series that will hook there claws on you.
I went into Faking the Pucking Shot by Tracy Lorraine expecting a fun tropey hockey romance, and honestly, it delivered exactly that and more. The story starts off messy in the best way, with a one night stand that turns into a surprise pregnancy 🤰 and a fake dating arrangement to save Everett’s reputation after things spiral right before the Stanley Cup Finals. I won’t lie, I really didn’t love Everett at the beginning. The way he handled the pregnancy reveal accusing Beatrice of lying and demanding a DNA test had me side eyeing him hard 👀 and him not even remembering her at first made it worse. But what I appreciated most was that he didn’t just magically change overnight. He had to truly earn Beatrice’s trust, forgiveness and even her friendship before anything deeper could grow and that made their relationship feel much more genuine and satisfying. As their fake relationship progresses, you really start to see Everett’s walls come down. He goes from being an arrogant, hotheaded playboy to someone who is quietly obsessed in the best way like researching pregnancy 🥹, sending her meals 🍲 , insisting she move in when he realizes how badly she’s struggling and even stepping up in ways she never asked for 👏 so yeah Beneath all the attitude, he’s dealing with a lot of insecurity and fear of not being enough and I loved how that vulnerability was explored through his nightmares and his need to prove himself. Beatrice was such a strong and grounded main character and I loved that she had her own struggles and identity outside of Everett. She didn’t just get absorbed into his world, if anything he had to grow into hers 💅 💇♀️ Their relationship was definitely chaotic at times, but also really addictive, and once they got on the same page, I was completely invested. I loved seeing him fully step into his role, becoming even more devoted, showing up for appointments and choosing sobriety alongside her. The proposal was such a standout moment, especially when he made it clear he wasn’t doing it for their arrangement, but because he genuinely wanted a future and a family with her. And the ending with him publicly declaring his love at a game was the perfect full circle moment. Overall, this was a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️ 🌶️ read for me and I’m really glad I continued with the series! Can’t wait for Hayden Monroe 🏒
Tracy Lorraine!!!! I swear. I don’t know what you put in these books, but I literally could not put it down! Faking The Pucking Shot is book four in the LA Vipers series. Rett and Bea were beyond so amazing! If you love a GREAT hockey romance with so much angst, heat, vulnerability and a found family you will love, you NEED to read this book and the whole series!
Rett, we have been waiting for him. The bad boy that we learn deep down has a heart of pure gold and is the sweetest and most vulnerable ever. He’s so cocky and arrogant, but I LOVED how for once, reading a man’s story of feeling so self-conscience, so vulnerable, so un-worthy. It broke my heart to see the demons this beautiful man had inside. Even though he had it all, the money, the fame and a beautiful family, he was so empty and never truly felt love. Bea, this girl was everything! Fierce, so funny, strong, independent. Walked away from her life of privilege to stand on her own, owning her own salon After her first ever hockey game and one totally reckless one night stand, the absolute surprise of two pink lines changes her life forever. I am telling you, Tracy writes real, raw and vulnerable authentic love so perfectly! Their banter is adorable and funny. Their chemistry is so raw and pure fire and once they give in, holy hell is it hot!
And the found family in this book, you will absolutely fall in love with these characters! They are there for each other through it all, unconditonally💚
At its heart, this is a story about two broken hearts who believe they’re not enough, learning that love doesn’t require perfection, only the courage to choose each other unconditionally. And Tracy, I was hoping the next book would be the couple I have been waiting for and omg you are giving it to us and I absolutely cannot wait💚

🎀Thank you to Tracy Lorraine and Deviant Hearts PR for my arc!
ARC Review 📖 Faking the Pucking Shot LA Vipers Book 4 Written by Tracy Lorraine
They two share some hot chemistry which is how they share a hot moment together and that was supposed to be it but fate had either plans. They're expecting a baby together.
As they start to get to know each other the banter between them comes too easily and it starts to be apparent that they have more than just chemistry between them that there could be something more. I love the unconventional way that their story starts and how they go about navigating it together.
Rhett may be a Playboy but there is so much more to him that not everyone gets to see and I think Bea is going to be just what he needs even if he isn't ready to admit it. Bea is being very guarded with Rhett because of his reputation he's going to have to prove to her that he's more than what people say about him.
I love that every chance she can get she's making him work for her affection or her time. She gives him a run for hisiney and challenges which as a hockey player who is competitive can pass up but it definitely develops to something more than that.
I couldn't wait for the moment when they both fell for each other. Tracy has done it again and made me fall for another hockey player and another one of her books. Tracy writes it and I will read it, it's that simple. I am not ready for the next book. I just know it's going to wreck me.

Dyyyiing right now! Tracy Lorraine has out freaking done herself with this surprise pregnancy romance! Seeing the NHL’s biggest fuqboi, Everett Donnelly, turn into a total simp for his baby mama is literally the swooniest thing I’ve ever read and I am so over the top insanely in love with it. Five stars! Full stop! And no one can convince me otherwise! This man! My heart is still in full on melt mode over him. He’s the guy who sleeps with anything, takes full advantage of his NHL status and let’s his temper lead the way long before anything else, and one girl in his jersey that he can’t resist that leads to a surprise pregnancy he’s definitely not ready for, has him wrapped so tight around her finger by the end of this book it’s ridiculous. I get why though, Bea is fantastic! She’s independent, she’s witty, she’s got her own business, and she is the only girl that has ever told him no, basically she’s a cocky boy’s kryptonite. And they have sooo much chemistry. This read is hot on a multitude of levels simply because these two have IT, it’s in the bedroom, it’s the club, the way Rett makes Bea let him take care of her, and the way Bea listens to every single one of Rett’s fears, and the way just having the other in sight soothes and calms everything raging around them. And as Rett let’s Bea see who he really is under the mask he wears for the public, which will have you salivating to find a man who loves like he does, Bea starts trusting that he means every I’ll always be here that he says, and they both start listening to what their hearts are pretty much screaming at them, all you can think is dear lord romance does not get better than this. Another divine must read from Tracy Lorraine!
Faking The Pucking Shot : LA Vipers Series Book 4 ) 💚Surprise Pregnancy 🏒 Hockey Romance 💚 one night that turns into so much more 🏒Reformed Bad Boy 💚Opposites Attract 🏒Forced Proximity 💚He Falls First and Hard 🏒Fake Engagement and much much more I only have one question, how do you not fall in love with this absolutely amazing , Steamy and addictive series/ world that Tracy has so brilliantly created . Book 4 already and I’m just utterly obsessed and equally in love with each couple and their journeys . That being said, something about Everett and Bea really had my heart , I just felt such a connection to both . I loved the chemistry between them but it was so much more than that . The things they went through just resonated with me in the most unexpected of ways. I loved how different they were yet how perfectly they complemented each other. I loved how even though one night changed everything for them , they still figured out a way to support each other other . I mean Bea was such a great heroine - smart , sassy , confident, able to take care of herself. And let me just say the fact that she didn’t want anything to do with Rhett In the beginning, it was so much fun to watch him work to break her walls down and get be attention. Because if there is one thing Rhett loves is a challenge . The progression of their relationship was so much fun and so beautiful to watch . It most definitely was not without complexities and obstacles but just like in every day life relationships take work and are not always easy . Add into that the angst , the humor , the witty banter , the insane chemistry, the family and friendships. Chefs kiss 💋 that’s exactly what Rhett’s and Beaus story was and is
Faking the Pucking Shot just became one of my favorites. Bea and Rett story was absolutely spectacular. I honestly couldn’t get enough of these two.
Rett the bad the boy, hot temper player, finally gets his story. He is not a one woman type of guy. He is known for his womanizing ways. So when he and Bea share one time together. This night will be one for the books.
Bea is an independent as they come. She has a business she loves. And works hard for everything she has. She only lets the one she closes too into her life. But one night she lets go and shares a night with Rett. And little do they both know that a night of passion will lead with consequences.
Rett and Bea have a lot to figure out once they realize they will be in each other lives. Rett shows a side no one has ever seen. A softer side, and she shows in ways that surprise them both. And she let him in little by little. Especially when he needs to clean up his image. She agree with a benefit for her as well. But things change, Rett is very hard and himself and Bea show him how wonderful he is. Once they finally give in their chemistry is explosive. It’s so great to see how far they’ve come.
This story had it all, the banter, laughs, found family and everything in between. The other characters make appearance makes it extra special. And I honestly can’t get enough of this world Tracy has created.
Everett Donnelly - hockey player, reputation with the women, hot tempered, gives the teams PR team a permanent headache. Beatrice Walsh - owns her own beauty salon, comes from money, but walked away and got cut off. She’s strong, determined, independent. She’s made it so far on her own, with help from her bestie and the girls from the salon.
One night stand resulting in a surprise positive pregnancy test. Beatrice is obviously shocked and doesn't know how she's going to cope raising a child by herself, but she's determined that she's going to do just that. But Everett has the right to know he's going to be a Father. She tries everything to track him down. With help from her bestie, Sienna, they've got his attention. She doesn't want anything from him, just for him to acknowledge them and be in their child's life.
The teams PR suggests that they fake a relationship to boost, save and renew his image. But what does she get out of this PR stunt? Can this player go from one night only, to being a one woman man?
Love the banter between the girls and the boys groups. They've all got each others backs.
Having read the three previous installments in this series I've been looking forward to more! I jumped right back into the LA Vipers world. I so enjoyed this story!
Beatrice and Everett's journey pulled me in! An LA Vipers hockey game has them spending an unforgettable night together. Little did Everett and Beatrice know that their lives would be forever changed and they'd enter a fake relationship. Could this lead to the realest thing of all for both of their hearts?
I adored the fact that an LA Vipers game brought Everett and Beatrice into each others lives. I enjoyed getting to see these two take on their new reality as soon to be parents. From all things parenthood, personal stuff, their fake relationship, hockey, and the real, I couldn't wait to see how it'd all play out for Everett and Beatrice!
It was touching to see Beatrice and Everett dig deeper with one another. It made me so happy that they were in this together. There was realness to both Everett and Beatrice that showed all throughout. These two had me feeling many things with them.
It was so great to be reunited with the LA Vipers crew!
With Faking the Pucking Shot, Ms.Lorraine had created such a good surprise pregnancy romance that had me feeling so much! 🏒💚🤰
I can't wait to get back into this series with book five!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author*
This series sucks you in from the start. I loved Rhett and Bea's book it was such a heartwarming story. These two truly completed each other. Bea has been struggling financially since getting stuck in a scam, things have not been going well for her. Rhett is on a downward spiral and even though he is happy being a LA Viper he just can't seem to get out of his head. While Bea is not a hockey fan her best friend is and she gets dragged to a LA Vipers game, where Rhett spots her and is amazed by her beauty. After one night together their lives are forever changed. Rhett and Bea have more in common then they know, both have a lot of emotional struggles, feeling like they don't' deserve second chances, lost in their own spirals. Rhett has a lot of insecurities, he wants to do the right thing and truly does try, he goes above and beyond taking care of Bea in so many ways. Bea struggles to let people in and as for help. The emotional aspect of this story truly gave us the best parts of this story, it was heartwarming and amazing how these two healed each other. When Rhett explains that she brings him calm it just gives you the best feelings. Another amazing book that I devoured from the first page. I can't wait for the next book in this series. I was given this book as an ARC for my honest review.
I have a new book addiction. A Tracy Lorraine's book addiction. Because Faking the Pucking Shot was totally unputdownable, read till the early hours and forget about sleep type of unputdownable. Never thought that there'll be a woman who can tame the wild bad boy player Rett Donnelly but Bea is something else. I loved, loved, loved the angst and the slowest burn ever. Bea was smart, sassy, stubborn and determined and oh so stunning. And she didn't know anything about Rett Donnelly and didn't want anything to do with him. And Rett took it as a challenge but also he wanted everything to do with Bea. Rett was the ultimate playboy hockey player with a temper. Also Rett was so lost, angry and insecure about his future and career and was spiraling. And then Bea turned his world upside down. Their surprise situation changed their lives. But Rett was the one who changed the most and managed to redeem himself. He even was there to support a teammate in a time of need. That tight knit group of friends, that big found family was so great. I loved Rett and Bea's happy ending but that bonus epilogue was everything. Now I can't wait for Hayden and Hayley's story.
Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.
Rett is a professional hockey player who is a force to be reckoned with on ice the ice however his actions off the ice don’t always leave the best impression. He is popular and charming when it comes to women and when he meets Bea he believes that she will be no different than the woman who have come before her however he is about to realize that she is a game changer.
Bea is content with her life as she is focused on ensuring the success of the salon she has opened and has a great group of friends who are there for her. Agreeing to go to a hockey game was supposed to be a fun night however that goes sideways when the night she spent with Rett doesn’t end there when she finds out that she is pregnant. She is prepared to do this on her own and isn’t about to accept less than what she deserves.
This is a story of growth for both Rett and Bea who have insecurities that affect their actions which brings its own complications. The chemistry between them is intense, there are fun times as well as emotional moments as they appreciate each other for who they are scars and all.
I was happy to finally get Rhett's story since he was always the most understood. It was a nice story but there a few details that should of been worker on: 1. Rhett's eyes were described by Bea if being so icy blue several times then later on in the story his eye color changes to dark chocolate brown. This is a major problem. can't change a characters features in a noticeable way. 2. I had to think back and remember this author if from the UK so I think she forgets when shes writing about American characters they don't use terms such as "flat" to describe their apartment or "cab" to describe their own cars, etc. I noticed this happens in many of her books that are about American characters. It may take away the authenticity of trying to connect the character to their location/description. Just a thought.
I was almost disappointed we didn't see the pregnancy to the finish line since the book is based on it but glad we received a conclusion in the bonus scene.
I kind of figured what was going on with Hayden and I was right. His book is next. I'm hoping Hailee is the leading lady in this book.
Faking the Pucking Shot is the 4th book in the LA Vipers series. This book is about Everett (Rett) and Beatrice (Bea) and is told from both of their points of view.
Bea goes with her friend on her friends birthday to her first ever hockey game, where Rett sees her in the crowd and instantly see's sparks. When they end up at the same club that night Bea knows not to fall for the hockey player, but Rett is charming and things happen. They both scratch their itch and go on their own way.
However, weeks later Bea finds out she is carrying more from that night than they planned on. When Rhett finds out he does not take the news well. However, the more they get to know each other real feelings start to develop between the two.
I loved getting to see both of these back stories, and why they are the way they are today. I loved seeing both of them help each other grow. Will they each be there when the other goes through their own battles? What happens when the baby is born? Will they both get their happy ending?
I really enjoyed this book and getting to know these two characters. I also really enjoy seeing other characters from the past books. Rett's banter with his teammates. I can't wait to see what happens next in this series!
Nothing fake here! These two characters are very real and they were meant to be in every possible way. Everett Donnelly is a playboy through and through is it because he wants to? It seems he is because it's an easy distraction from his own insecurities. Beatrice Walsh is independent, strong, and capable. She's opened her own business which is thriving, but she's made some mistakes and they are costing her. One friend's birthday party, a challenge made, protection failed, and these two strangers are about to discover sometimes all you need is to find someone to share your fears, dreams, ideas, and goals with to discover you're not alone. The banter was great, friendships were even better, and the found family was wonderful. The hockey scenes were great especially with Sienna. The swear jar again is hilarious. There of course is plenty of action on and off the ice. The lead up for the next book already has me sucked in, might need some tissues for this one. I have voluntarily left this review.
Faking The Pucking Shot By Tracy Lorraine ARC Review
I’ve been enjoying this series I think I’ve developed another love for Tracy Lorraine’s books this was one my favourite enjoyable book in this series so far and it did not disappoint I adored their chemistry and their story was written it was very entertaining to read!
Everett, was one of my favourites of Tracy Lorraine’s books yet again I loved his possessiveness and how the tropes were so put so well together between them it was so easy to see the forced proximity between them!
Bea, was an excellent main character and the perfect woman for Everett she independent and strong but most importantly how she opened up to him so was so crazy to watch them unlock each others barriers between reach other.
I’ve been loving this series so far and looking forward to seeing what happens in the next books in the series I loved the accidentally pregnancy trope and the banter between them that was so fun to read about and watching them fall in love left me wanting the next book!
This book was the first I’ve read by this author, and for the most part, I enjoyed her writing style. I could relate to Bea’s character in that I have a somewhat difficult time making friends, and I know next to nothing about hockey. Everett was more difficult to like. At first he is just a hot shot hockey player, serious somewhat violent player on the court, as well as serious love ‘em and leave ‘em player off the court. Once he discovers Bea is pregnant and the baby is really his, he does a complete 180 and becomes the sensitive, caring man that perhaps he has always hidden. As for Bea’s character, I respected her for separating herself from her overbearing family although we never actually see them in the book except through her description of them. However, she claims her emotional roller coaster during her pregnancy is beyond her control. Her reactions just seem a little beyond the pale. Overall, I enjoyed the book and will probably read more books from this author.
Whether it’s dark and gritty or real and emotional, no one writes a story quite like Tracy. This is the fourth book in her LA Vipers series, and it’s Everett’s turn, he’s the newest defenseman for the Vipers, but he’s not new to this world. He has connections to this team and found his home here, but after one too many negative headlines he’s fearful that his days may be numbered.
Bea is new to this world, and when she caught the eye of a certain defenseman she wasn’t prepared for how much he was going to change her life and she his. She’s the calm to his chaos and together they just work.
Tracy has written such a great story, giving Rett and Bea vulnerabilities that makes them relatable, and makes you care. I am a Tracy fan, this series is part of the reason why.
🏒 Hockey Romance 🏒 Sports Romance 🏒 Surprise Pregnancy
⭐ 5/5
Rett and Bea
This hockey romance follows Rett and Bea. Everett is back in his hometown and while everything is great with the team he misses something. And he fills it with parties and women. But only women who will stay for one night only. Until one woman brings him to reconsider his mind and actions. Bea only wanted one night with Rett and got so much more out of that. Something that will change her life forever. When she finds out she is expecting a baby, she knows she wants the father involved if he wants to. But it messes with her life plans. And Bea is a woman who handles everything herself and doesn’t want to be taken care of. Or feelings, relationships or a mess with co parenting. So it takes her a while to get on board with Rett’s help. I really liked who Everett changed and grew up with the new situation. I could understand Bea and her hesitation. And so we got one amazing romance with hockey players, surprise pregnancies and feelings.
Back in the world of the LA Vipers!! I was so excited to read bad boy Rett's story and this did not disappoint. Although we did see the soft and caring side of Rett. The chemistry between Rett and Bea was off the charts which we then know resulted in more than they anticipated from a one night stand! I love Bea, she doesn't stand for the hockey player charm and Rett sure has to work hard to prove himself and he certainly does! All the thoughtful food and drink orders and just genuinely caring for her. I love catching up with all the rest of the hockey family and getting to meet new characters too - Sienna is brilliant! Unexpected pregnancy and fake relationship are two of my fave tropes. As Sienna says this is “A spicy fiction book, based on the tales of your first night.” Oh and the epilogue was amazing, just wrapped it all up nicely!!!
First of all, I get an idea and a plot of this book. And surprise pregnancy and sports romance are both my favorite. But Beatrice and Everett's problems seem endless (- -')
Bea is an independent, strong, and smart woman but her pregnant hormone seems to mess with her mind because she is so sensitive and cries a lot. But it's okay, I totally understand why she acts like that. Now about Everett, I think he is complicated. I don't remember why he has his issues. He doesn't have family issue and his teammates are supportive but he seems to berate himself in everything that happens. Why?!?
I do really want to give the book 5 stars because it started with an interesting and enjoyable story but after a while, I got bored of the dialogs and their push and pull relationship. Plus it's dragged too long and the story seems to be scattered. BUT it's still better than a few previous books of this series so 4 stars it is.
I am absolutely loving this series. The men on this hockey team are hot and wild and the women are feisty and full of fire. Everett ‘Rett’ Donnelly is the bad boy of hockey. He is traded to L.A. from Seattle and is happy to be back home and close to his family and best friend. Beatrice ‘Bea’, is a beauty therapist who owns her own salon. She is not a puck bunny like all the other women Rett goes for. These two are complete opposites and when there is a surprise in the form of a baby and Rett had one wild night that lands him in trouble, Hailee comes up with a proposition. He needs to change his ways or he could be traded again. He and Bea need each other. See how something fake turns into something real. They may be opposites, but they are perfect for each other. This was such a great read and I loved these two. This read brought out some feels, and it was a fabulous ride.
