After the untimely demise of her husband, Bobbi Burgess struggles to maneuver two jobs and support her teenage son, until the production plant offers up the irrevocable blow that will almost certainly leave her homeless. Disenfranchised Bobbi turns to her brother, who offers her an unconventional solution. Guns. With an abundant supply, and a laxity of regulation in her home state; Bobbi dips her toes into the murky fringes of the black market gun trade. Just as she begins to rebuild a semblance of renewed life; law enforcement in her small town becomes suspicious of her frequent excursions and myriad of cash and suggests she skip town. Refusing to be thwarted, Bobbi embarks to complete the greatest single transaction of her illicit career....
Tense, tightly written, and surprisingly emotional. Gun Runner pulled me in with Bobbi’s desperate choices and kept me hooked as the stakes quietly, then suddenly escalated. Gritty, thoughtful, and hard to put down.
Wow, this book hooked me from the start and kept me hooked the whole way through. The author mixes tension with clever dialouge and suspense. The author does a great job weaving her husband’s death throughout the story without giving it all away too soon—it keeps you guessing and wanting more. I really liked her writing style; it feels natural and keeps the story moving without dragging. I looked her up and saw this is her first book, which honestly impressed me. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for whatever she writes next. And I just have to mention how she personalized a message in the front of the book whichI really appreciated. The best part was she also included a bookmark that had a little gun charm. It absolutely adorable, and i'm obsessed with it. The personalization and thought the author put into everything is very impressive and I will be keeping up with this author! Definitely, recommending this for the next book for book club!
