Melanie May, a small-town cop hungry for the big time, risks her career to convince a troubled FBI profiler of the identity of a serial killer, only to realize that the profile she's created fits someone in her own life -- and that the killer won't stop...until all fall down.
A New York Times and International bestselling author, Erica Spindler's skill for crafting engrossing plots and compelling characters has earned both critical praise and legions of fans. Her stories have been lauded as “thrill-packed page turners, white- knuckle rides and edge-of-your-seat whodunits.”
Erica loves meeting and interacting with her fans, both in person and online. She has a wicked sense of humor, an optimistic spirit and loves coffee, chocolate and red wine, not necessarily in that order.
In 2002 her novel Bone Cold won the prestigious Daphne du Maurier Award for excellence. A Romance Writers of America Honor Roll member, she received a Kiss of Death Award for her novels Forbidden Fruit and Dead Run and was a four-time RITA® Award finalist. Erica lives just outside New Orleans, Louisiana, with her husband and two sons.
This was my first book by this author and I was impressed. It begins in a fairly normal manner with a small town cop being treated unfairly when a murder occurs in her town. Then however it rapidly develops as it appears not one but two serial killers are busy murdering a variety of victims around the local area. I guessed the murderers twice and was wrong every time - it was that kind of book:) Towards the end the story just romps home and it is unputdownable! I definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good mystery and I will be looking out for this author's other books.

Brief remarks:
As always, a really really GREAT novel by Erica Spindler! I have been trying to read back from her first books published towards now; I'm weird like that. I just love seeing an author evolve and grow and change though over that kind of timeline-it really is cool!
Regardless, I've NEVER been disappointed in ANY of Ms. Spindler's writings, "old" or "newly" published-she is, simply out: A GREAT AUTHOR! I love her shocking, thrilling "who dunits". I lose sleep over them and because I cannot stop reading them. That is so perfect, imo.
"All Fall Down" is no exception; the story is built around grown triplet sisters, which is intriguing in itself, and the vigilante killings of abusive men. How is that for a tough subject right there?! Eek.
Brass tacks, shall we? Throughout the book, I found myself really questioning my own beliefs surrounding the idea of "an eye for an eye"/vigilantism. As a granddaughter of a (now deceased) police chief, I was raised to be pretty black and white. Honestly and unfortunately, I have personally been on the receiving end of abusive behaviors in my lifetime and thus found myself vacillating between "they're getting what they deserve!" thoughts and "killing is wrong, regardless!".
What a truly TOUGH SUBJECT!
Anyhow, Ms. Spindler masterfully manipulates the readers and characters emotions to wring us out to a breathtaking, beautifully stunning conclusion!
Well done INDEED! I loved it and highly recommend this book if you're a murder-mystery-thriller junkie as am I. Damn fine read. Damn fine indeed.
Thank you for stopping by my short review! :-) enjoy...cheers, Lisa (@NurseLisainOhio)
Phew! That was one roller coaster ride , true I guessed the killer as soon as she was introduced but climax shook me to the core! Brilliant plot n exactly " all fall down"
Now this was a chilling, terrifying and engrossing read!
From cover:
"Men are dying unexpectedly in Charlotte, North Carolina-all victims of bizarre accidents. No one will call these deaths murder.
No one except small-town cop Melanie May. She sees the pattern: a serial killer targeting men who have slipped through the fingers of justice. Alone with her awful certainty, Melanie risks her career to convince Connor Parks, a troubled FBI profiler, that she's right.
Suddenly Melanie is in the limelight, lauded for uncovering the Dark Angel. But her involvement makes her a target. For as she and Connor study the victims, their deaths, the signature the murderer leaves at every scene, Melanie comes face to face with the terrible truth. The profile Connor's created fits someone in her own life...a profile of a cunning killer, one without remorse and bent on vengenance.
A killer who will not stop until...All Fall Down."
Really good mystery/thriller. I have enjoyed all of Erica Spindlers books.
Melanie is the main character who is a police officer in a small town. She starts finding similarities in the deaths of men who have gotten off on technicalities. Kind of like the show Dexter. Some good twists in the story. All in all I really enjoyed this one.
I read the book in a day. Did not want to put it down. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, I was led in another direction. Time after time. Thoroughly enjoyed and I'll be checking out other books from this book.
All Fall Down was a book that I listened to for a specific challenge. Luckily for me, it went by pretty quickly and the mystery kept me on my toes. Unfortunately, some things that were said or done were just a smidge weird to me. Or maybe it was just the characters themselves.
In it, you will meet Melanie. She is a police officer down in North Carolina. Throughout the book she is on a huge murder case because someone is killing people who were accused of doing something terrible.. but not committed. I thought it was an interesting take and it kind of sounded like an episode of any criminal justice show. However, just like the shows - things were a bit predictable.
Overall, I think this was my first book from this author and it certainly won't be my last. Very intrigued to see what else Erica has written.
This was actually really easy to read & had me hooked right from the start. While there was plenty going on with the different directions the story was taking, it never felt rushed or confused. There were plenty of twists & just when I thought I knew what was happening, the rug would be pulled out from under my feet. It was exciting & gripping, and I really enjoyed it.
However, there were things I didn’t like. For a book first released in 2000, it is really showing attitudes for an even earlier time - the sexism in general & the apathy of the police. I also felt that the relationship between Melanie & Conner was shoehorned into the story for no reason, and I was disappointed in the ending. After the crimes were solved, I was expecting an epilogue of some sorts, not the “…and they all lived happily ever after” situation that we got.
This is the story of Melanie, who is a police officer in North Carolina. She is divorced with a four year old son. Melanie finds out that someone is killing men who have been accused of abuse but not been charged. She begins to look into the deaths, helped by an FBI agent, Connor. The two begin to get closer, as the deaths hit Melanie too close to home, and she finds out she is a suspect. Can she find the killer before it's too late?
The characters where fully fleshed out and I got to really know the characters. This was my first Erica Spindler books and it will not be my last.
I gave this one 3.5 stars. This is my first book by Spindler and I read it for a BOTM. I can't really give a synopsis of this book because I feel there is too much going on and I'm afraid of giving away some spoilers. The ending sort of hit me upside the head, I never guessed what was really going on. I actually felt like a part of the ending was so out of the blue that it was hard for me to believe.
I think what I liked most about the book was the character development. Each character had a fleshed out storyline and because of that I felt like I really got to know them. I identified with the main character Melanie and her pursuit of a better life. I felt bad for her when she was pushed aside by some of the city cops. She was just trying her best to balance her career with her family. I loved to hate some of the characters and was happy with the way things were ended with a few of them.
I will be looking into other books by this author.
Another brilliant book by Erica Spindler, she really knows how to keep you guessing. The romance between the lead character and a colleague was a given really from the first time they met. I thought I'd guessed the UNSUB by about half way through but there was a great and unexpected little twist at the end. The only flaw to my mind was the finding of the two skeletons in the water at such a propitious time but other than that a fantastic read if you like crime and murder.
Another great mystery thriller by Erica Spindler. Her books never disappoint. There were a lot of twists and turns and I kept jumping between the three main suspects in trying to figure out who the culprit was. Well written and a quick, enjoyable read. I was slightly disappointed in the ending, but other than that it was great.
I just began this book, never read anything by Erica Spindler before. It starts off well, thus far a good read.
And now the book is finished. This was great, wasn't sure who did it (don't want to give the story plot away), but it is definitely on the list of one of those to read. I look forward to reading more of her books.
Such a good book! This is the first one of Erica's books I have read, and it was soooo good. Even though I thought I had figured it out, I was surprised at the end. Talk about a twist! I would recommend this to anyone who likes thrillers and suspenseful novels.
I'm going to give this 5. Since I read it in french I cannot see flaws in the writing so I'm not grading the quality of the writing. About the book, it was great, the end a little bit predictable to be honest but I spend the entire Monday wishing I was home just to read it!
This book was pretty good... There were so many twists and turns! Really suspenseful! I love how everything came together in the end.. I'm so happy I have all of Erica Spindlers books (well not the very latest one but I got lots to go!!) so I can continue my spree!!
