“Franklin can tie his shoes. Franklin can count by twos.” In this episode from the popular children’s show, Franklin can’t help wanting to add to his collection of pets. When he and Bear find a lost duckling, Franklin decides to keep it despite his mother’s wishes. The duckling does not take to domestic life, and Franklin learns that sometimes his best intentions are not enough. A happy ending is had by all when the duckling’s family comes to retrieve it. This easy reader is classified by the publisher as a level 2: Kids can read with help. The full color illustrations will be familiar to children who watch the television show. The book is laid out in short sentences with familiar words and some fun sound words like “Shhhh!”, “COUGH!”, and “QUACK!” Children will enjoy knowing that a duckling does not belong in a bedroom before Franklin figures it out.
