Leaving his family’s cheerful-but-very-noisy Christmas getaway is chimera shifter Colton’s favorite time of year, and this time he has an excellent his job as a lawyer is pulling him back to New York—unless the Montana winter snowstorms have anything to say about it. But the storm brings its own kind of luck, because small plane pilot Jo Talbott isn’t just Colton’s answer to getting out of the mountains and back to the real she’s also his fated mate, and the reason he’s prepared to change his life entirely...
...as soon as he wins this court case, anyway. And while Jo wasn’t planning to fly in the storm, when Colton (who happens to be the most absurdly handsome man Jo has ever seen) makes her an offer that will help save her family ranch, Jo trusts her instincts and her skills—and when disaster takes the plane down, it’s thanks to a freak event that neither of them could have anticipated.
Marooned in the Montana mountains and determined to save his mate, Colton reveals himself as a shifter—and realizes quickly that Jo is going to save him right back. Together they stand every change against the blizzard—and might just make a life-changing discovery on their stormy road to love.
Christmas Chimera is a standalone romantic comedy with a guaranteed happily ever after, sure to warm wintery holiday hearts!
Zoe Chant loves writing paranormal romance. Over a cup of tea (or something stronger) she whips up sexy tales of hunky heroes and adventurous heroines to tantalize and satisfy her readers. Sizzling hot romance, no cliffhangers!
While series should ideally be read in order, all of Zoe’s books are standalones and can be read in any order. This includes books within series.
I absolutely love this author's books! This was a fantastic holiday story that can be read anytime. It was quite adventurous, entertaining, hilarious, with a bit of suspense, and a terrific HEA story. I would definitely recommend it for those who love the love at first sight/fated mate books. I would definitely recommend this book and outstanding author.
This was a delightful, and totally unexpected, surprise post-Christmas release from Irish!Zoe (AKA Murphy Lawless / CE Murphy) with an environmental lawyer MMC, and a small plane pilot FMC. And it hit all of my favourite shifter romance beats, including managing to be a safe warm hug of a story DESPITE the premise of a plane crash in the remote Montana wilderness and our lead couple having to survive and get home in time for Colton (the MMC) to be in court to fight an environmental case on the side of the good guys.
And between Jo's competence when it comes to wilderness survival, Colton's ability to recognise that competence and be guided by it because he knows it's not HIS area of expertise, the warmth and banter between the two of them, and the way the two of them work as a team, this was just a pleasure to read. I think some of the things I appreciate most about this particular Zoe's books are that a/ her main characters are almost always evenly matched in terms of agency, competence and what they bring to the plot (it's never one character completely carrying the other), b/ she almost never - certainly not in the last few books I've read by her - does the frustrating "third-act breakup due to stupid miscommunication" thing, and c/ the main plot antagonist-thread is something the characters can work together as a team on, with each of their areas of competence complementing the other's.
This is the kind of formula that will keep me coming back for book after book after book, and especially if I genuinely like hanging out with the characters (which I absolutely did with Jo and Colton), it will pretty much guarantee a 5-star rating from me.
Thank you, Irish!Zoe, for another wonderful read <3
I loved this forced proximity, fated mates holiday romance with a side of extreme circumstances. It had a wonderful mix of sweet, spicy, real life issues, and just the right amount of feelings. Colton is a lawyer and a chimera shifter. Jo is a small plane human pilot in a small mountain town. Colton is leaving his large family holiday get together when a heavy snowstorm hits causing a cancellation of his flight. Desperate to get home, he hires Jo to fly him to the closest larger airport. As soon as he sees Jo he knows she’s his fated mate. Unfortunately, the weather conspires against them resulting in being stranded in the mountains in a snowstorm with one tent and one sleeping bag. To get to their HEA, Jo will have to come to terms with shifters, mates and all that entails while they’re trying to survive the extreme conditions and making their way toward civilization. Despite being short, the novella was well written and included three dimensional characters and an engaging storyline. 4.5 stars.
Colton is going back to work after spending Christmas with the 26 members of his loud family. His chimera really likes quiet better. To get back to New York City for an important legal case, he offers Jo, who turns out to be his mate, a large amount of money to fly him out during the end of a snowstorm. But then the weather turns much worse and the plane crashes. Can they survive and make it out safely? This has a lot of action while they are dealing with the storm. Colton's chimera is a very cute shifter animal in how he looks at and deals with everything. I loved his character!
The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character centered storyline that has some action and steamy scenes with not a ton of details. The characters are vibrant and endearing. I hope that the rest of Colton's family find their mates as well! They are a lovely, yet boisterous family! Thus is a sweet shifter romance with some natural adventure and superb characters.
A fated mate and a Cessna plane crash all in a span of two hours. Colton Drew, Attorney at Law was flying back to the City for an important court case when BOOM, lightning struck for the second time that day. It was up to him to save his new mate and himself during a suspenseful journey through frozen Montana mountains to safety. Fantastic characters, especially Colton's amusing chimera, keep the trek lighthearted. Zoe Chant stories are a must buy for me. Enjoy!
This story tells of a young man who has servived a plane crash and fell in love with his mate and walk miles in snow with her back to her family ranch, only on the way fell into a came were their was paintings on the wall that saved her families ranch and brought two families together.I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁from a bookworm that loves to read
Christmas Chimera is a novella length HEA. I read it in a couple hours and it was quite the adventure to start my day with! Colton and Jo's story is one of survival and the importance of leaning on each other.
PS - Don't skip the bonus epilogue - it's delightful! I loved it so much I read it twice.
I enjoyed Colton and Jo's journey to their HEA. Who knew misadventure could be somewhat fun. I enjoyed the banter and interactions between the two, along with the commentary from the chimera.
This is an easy and fun read and is definitely worth taking time out to read.
There's lots of snow, forced proximity, and fated mates. Both protagonists contribute to overcoming the conflict.
If you are a physicist, geologist, or airplane pilot, you may notice things in the book that would not happen in real life, but a man turns into a chimera, so you've been warned.
Run away to Montana after a snowy Christmas for an adventure decorated with humor and romance. These books are so much fun. Dive in for laughter and a delightful discovery with a pair of kind, dedicated protagonists. *advanced copy via author patreon*
I guess if one has to go down in the mountains after your plane is struck by lightning, in blizzard conditions, having a mythical creature that vankeep you warm and help you survive, is the way to go. Even if he needs mittens for his wings.
An Attorney and a Rancher set off in a dinky plane and fly into adventure. Wait! I should have said crash landed into adventure. I thought it was a very fun read.
Zoe’s books 📚 are a must read, her characters are fun and well thought out. This Christmas story is full of luv and adventure and humour plus the added bonus Christmas Woolies a short chapter is funny and playful.
Colton and Jo were both a blast and adorable! And I love Colton's Chimera and his attitude. ;) I hope there will be more stories with the un-mated Drew's and for Josh Talbott (I still think he is the mate of one of the Drews-like Colton's older sister...).
I love a snowed-in-together story! Though, this was more of a snowed-out-together story) Jo & Colton are so sweet and funny, and there's just the right amount of steam to keep you from freezing! Just lovely!
This was a happy read. I so enjoyed the chimera. He was so enthusiastic, innocent and practical when they needed it. I love Dolly and kept hearing " The song". The couple is cute together. This family is a hoot.
This book was recommended by another author that I follow and it sounded cute, so I picked it up. It was adorable! I adored Colton's chimera and thought Colton and Jo were lovely. It was a very fast read (being so short!), and it was a lovely way to spend a Sunday evening.
Simple, sweet, no swearing, smut implied and not dwelt upon. I loved it and will be grabbing the offered story of their first Christmas. I really want to read more about this huge delightful family of Chimeras!
Very enjoyable and entertaining. Loved going along as these two meet, crash a plane, then work their way out to safety. Believable with how the shifter/mate thing is revealed. Read through KU.
