When Reid Morrison crashes Jasper Compton’s welcome-home masquerade as the elusive Knave of Hearts he had no idea that the moment their eyes met, nothing would ever be the same—for either of them. Hidden identities, stolen glances, and a dangerous game of seduction ignite a passion neither can resist, forging a love as intoxicating as it is forbidden.
But their growing bond is more than scandalous—it’s perilous. A rogue third pack rises in the shadows, threatening to destroy everything the Morrisons and Comptons have built. As danger closes in, Reid and Jasper must will their star-crossed love heal generations of rivalry… or lead both packs to ruin?
In this dark, steamy, paranormal romance where fate, desire and loyalty collide, will love be strong enough to save them all?
Everleigh Miles spends her days writing flawed, vulnerable, kinky characters in difficult situations, drinking too much wine, and picking up after Mr Miles, DD Miles, and DS Miles, their two dogs, two cats, and a turtle.
She lives in beautiful Australia, in her dream house at the top of the hill, looking down at the ocean and just a short distance from some of the best wineries the country has to offer (which explains the too much wine).

I received an advance copy of The Alpha and the Envious Moon by Everleigh Miles, and I am grateful for the opportunity to read and review it.
This story leans strongly into atmosphere and emotional tension, and that is where it shines most. The writing has a lyrical quality that suits the paranormal elements beautifully, especially during moments tied to pack dynamics, loyalty, and internal conflict. There is a steady sense of longing and unease woven throughout the book that kept me engaged even during slower sections.
One of the most compelling aspects of the story is the star crossed lovers concept. The overall vibe strongly reminded me of Romeo + Juliet, specifically the 1996 version starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes, which many of us grew up loving. That same feeling of forbidden connection, heightened emotion, and fate pulling two people together is very present here, but reimagined as a paranormal MM romance.
Watching Jasper realize he had found his fated mate was genuinely endearing. He was completely all in from the start, full of awe and certainty, which made his emotional journey especially touching. In contrast, Reid’s hesitation to secure the bond was frustrating at times, but in a way that felt intentional and true to his character. His struggle to accept both the bond and his own feelings added depth to the romance, and his eventual acceptance was deeply satisfying.
There is a moment in the story that was genuinely heartbreaking, particularly involving a character who resisted fully accepting Reid and Jasper’s relationship. Even though that character was not especially likable, the emotional weight of that conflict landed hard and added to the overall impact of the story.
The romance develops gradually and leans more emotional than physical, but the connection feels intentional and earned. Pacing is where the book occasionally falters, particularly in the middle where internal monologue revisits similar emotional beats. Tightening those moments would strengthen the momentum and sharpen the payoff later in the story. A few secondary characters also felt underutilized, introduced with promise but not fully explored by the end.
Overall, The Alpha and the Envious Moon is a beautiful, emotionally driven paranormal romance. The ending felt earned and emotionally satisfying, offering a hopeful and fulfilling resolution to a story rooted in rivalry, fate, and forbidden love. Readers who enjoy star crossed romances, introspective alphas, and MM paranormal stories will likely find a lot to love here.
Thank you again to the author for the ARC and for trusting readers with an early look at this story.
I received an advance reader copy of The Alpha and the Envious Moon in exchange for an honest review.
This book wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t fully for me. It very much felt like a modern Romeo and Juliet–style paranormal romance, which I know a lot of readers will enjoy.
The writing was good, and the plot itself kept me interested enough to keep reading. I liked the overall idea and the emotional tension behind the story. However, the romance moved too fast for my personal taste. It felt very lust-driven right from the start, and I would have enjoyed it much more if it had been a slower burn with more buildup and emotional connection before things turned physical.
That said, this really comes down to preference. If you enjoy fast-paced, intense, lust-forward romances with a lot of emotion, this book will probably work much better for you than it did for me.
OMG I loved this book. could not put it down. You cannot help but love the main characters and want them to succeed. The spice is SPICY and the love is adorable.
The Alpha and the Envious Moon by Everleigh Miles is a dark and steamy MM paranormal romance that mixes forbidden love with pack politics and looming danger.. have I got your attention? From the moment Reid Morrison and Jasper Compton meet, the story oozes with tension that’s both romantic and political! We read as they navigate their attraction in a world where loyalty, power and rivalry come first and foremost.. the books filled with secrecy and longing.
Reid’s sharp confidence contrasts nicely with Jasper’s quieter, more introspective nature, giving a mix both volatile and deeply emotional. While Reid is confident and deeply aware of his position as an alpha heir, Jasper having just returned home feels like his carrying the weight of expectations he’s not sure he can meet.
The themes of identity, duty and choosing love over expectation are woven strongly throughout the story, making it raw and often intense but underneath the heat is a genuine exploration of identity, loyalty and what it means to choose your own future. The world of rival packs feels dangerous and the romance feels hard earned rather than easy for our MMCs.
This book is not a light read as there is explicit sexual content, violence and emotional intensity, however anyone who enjoy dark MM romance with high stakes and fated mate tension will find it a gripping read.

The Alpha and the Envious Moon — Everleigh Miles ARC REVİEW 💫📖
Going into this book, I honestly never expected my expectations to be exceeded by this much or for the story to pull me in so completely. But here we are.🧏♀️
With its smooth pacing, intense emotional depth, and plenty of spicy scenes, it hooked me from the very first pages. 😍
Ever since my reading obsession began, I’ve always had a soft spot for the fated mates trope, and seeing how perfectly it was used in this story made me incredibly happy.😌
Another thing I realized while reading was how long it had been since I truly got lost in a fantasy romance. This book reminded me exactly why I love the genre so much.🤌🏼
This is a true enemies-to-lovers story. Two packs that are sworn enemies. Two Alpha heirs.🔥🔥
When everything forbidden becomes even more tempting, the attraction between them turns both dangerous and consuming. Caught between pack loyalty and the bond fate has forced upon them, their story unfolds with tension and passion. You can easily imagine just how forbidden, fiery, and destructive this connection can be.
As an ARC reader, I can confidently say this book exceeded my expectations and left a strong impression on me. If you enjoy MM paranormal romance with fated mates, rival packs, and a forbidden edge, this one is definitely not to be missed.🖤
This Romeo and Juliet retelling was something I never knew I would enjoy! It was a bit weird for me at first this was my first MM read with no female intermingle. Jasper and Reid from two conflicting families find out they are dated mates after a ball jaspers sister throws. They fall into a typical hidden relationship. The story falls inline with the true R&J story with a few plot twist but same base. for instance they are all werewolf’s and Marcel is Marcella a guy who identifies as a woman. It’s very set in the now with what goes on in the world today or at least some parts of the world. The story was good I enjoyed reading it and it has a different twist to the ending which is worth the read! If this type of book is for you give it a chance it’s a sweet story! Grateful for the opportunity to Arc for this book!

The star crossed lovers concept was actually really interesting to read. It was really adorable how Jasper was all star eyes when he found his fated mate. He was all in. I hated that Reid didn't want to secure the bond at first but I am glad he accepted his feelings eventually. I was kind of heartbreaking when /that/ happened. Even if said character was kind of a little bish and did not want to fully accept Reid and Jasper's relationship. It was a beautiful story and a better ending than Romeo and Juliet or rather Romeo and Julian.
