Inside these pages is the journey of a woman who learned that survival is only the beginning. These poems explore the ache of what was taken, the miracle of what returned, and the beauty of rebuilding a life with steady hands, loyal hearts, a loyal partner and a sister by your side. This is a book about trauma, yes— but it is also a book about hope, tenderness, courage, and the unexpected ways life gives you back everything you thought you’d lost. A testament to healing, and the softness waiting at the end of it.

Allena Scott is a multi-genre indie author from Tennessee. She grew up reading all the books she could get her hands on. When Allena isn’t reading or writing, she’s spending time with her amazing family, binge-watching TV series and movies, or baking her next delicious treat.
In the poem “The Day She Proved It Again” the line “Because blood isn’t love” resonated with me so much as I currently have a toxic on and off relationship with a family member. These poems aren’t easy to swallow but are so beautifully done!
