A BRAND NEW totally addictive psychological thriller full of twists.
From a #1 bestselling author.
We swapped partners for one night. Just for fun. We thought we could handle it. We were wrong.
From the moment Seb and Tamsin moved in next door, I couldn’t look away. They’re everything Nate and I aren’t — glamorous, magnetic, intoxicating.
It started with drinks in the garden, shared meals, easy laughter. They made me feel seen again. Special.
And then comes the night that crosses a line.
It’s Tamsin’s idea. She leans in, eyes glinting. “We should swap. Partners. Just for the night.”
I should have said no. But I didn’t.
The next morning, I creep home full of guilt . . . and walk into something far worse.
There are no rules now. And not all of us will survive.
AN EXHILARATING BLEND OF PSYCHOLOGICAL SUSPENSE, NAIL-BITING TENSION WITH A SHATTERING FINAL TWIST.
Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Daniel Hurst, T.M. Logan, Lisa Jewell, Claire Douglas, and Shari Lapena.

So Nates phone goes straight to voicemail every time except when she's looking at it through the window, now it rings? If it was on she could have tracked his location but it was off during the whole story. Why was Nate wearing gloves and reaching behind him towards the fireplace if he was just gonna let Tamsin attack him like that without a fight? Why was Hayley so worried about who the killer was when she literally watched the whole thing go down?? She stalked Nate and was borderline obsessive but she was shocked to find out he was involved in a murder investigation?? Dont get me wrong this was a good read i liked it but the ending just didnt add up with the rest of the book in my opinion. I hope Wendy drives her crazy after all the attitude and snarky remarks she gave her just cause she finally made a friend. Let's face it, Hayley sucks. Wendy deserves better and I'm glad she stole her bracelet.

Pretty much the exact same story as ‘Eight Years of Lies’? Then most of it doesn’t even make sense after reading the ending on who was the actual killer. Silly
A twisty read with a great premise that is shattered at the end! 😬
Oh I hate writing reviews like this. I’ll always say that just because I wasn’t a fan, it doesn’t mean you won’t be. This book had a slow start, a fantastic middle where the pace ramped up, and unfortunately an ending that left me so annoyed!
This book was engaging and I loved how easy it was to read, having read the final 70% in one sitting. It had twists, suspense and leaves you questioning everyone which I love in a thriller. Whilst it took a while for the situation in the title to occur, I loved the book from this point forward and couldn’t wait to unravel everything as I was enjoying the read.
I found Tamsin fascinating and always wondered if there was an ulterior motive. I loved the chemistry between Seb and Hayley and hadn’t made my mind up on Nate. The different characters worked well in this read.
However, after an engaging middle, the book falls flat with a terrible ending that was totally implausible and really downgraded this read. I was confused, wondered what the point of the majority of the read was, and felt like the final twist let the book down massively.
Considering I was enjoying this read so much, it really shows how bad the ending was to make me drop my review so low, and I’m gutted about it! Some people have loved this book, but for me, I needed to dive into another book straight after to kind of forget about this read!
the build up was great, but the ending i’m so confused. they should of just left it at tasmin and seb. not the main character being there at the death?? when she was so involved with finding out what happened then she was there?? unnecessary
Hayley swap with Tamsin-her new neighbour husbands.Full of quilt she's back in the morning but her husband Nate and Tamsin are gone, and Tamsin husband Seb told her not to worry.Hayley don't want to believe that Nate would just leave her,and the more she uncover the more questions are not answered. Who are really Tamsin and Nate? Is something happened to Nate?
It was an enjoyable and secrets filled read. While I could not stop listening to audio because I was courious what is really going on,my frustation was with characters.Hayley suspect her husband is hidding something yet not once she calls it on him, just let everyone walk over her.Still it was tension filled read and I really wanted to know what is the secret that everyone seem to be hidding. The end and the twist was surprising and that did save the story for me.
A bit repetitive and little connection to characters left me not really caring or remembering all the details. A slightly incongruent resolution fell a little flat.
A fab book for our Book club read this month. I did enjoy it and was eager to keep reading more. My first read of Lisa Halls books- Im certain I'll be reading more from this author in the future.
I was completely hooked by this for the first 60%. The premise is instantly intriguing and the tension builds quickly, making it one of those books that’s very hard to put down. The messy relationships and sense that something isn’t quite right kept me turning the pages, and I loved not knowing who to trust. It felt like a really addictive, fast-paced psychological thriller at the start.
Unfortunately, it started to lose me as it went on. The story became more convoluted, and instead of the twists feeling clever or shocking, they felt a bit muddled. By the time I reached the final stretch, I was more confused than intrigued, and I found myself having to reread parts just to try and make sense of what was happening.
The ending was the biggest let down for me. It felt disjointed and didn’t deliver the payoff I was expecting after such a strong beginning. I wanted something sharper and more satisfying, but instead it left too many questions and not in a good way. Overall, an engaging start but a disappointing finish.
I needed a fast paced thriller whilst I’m reading Red Rising and this was that.
The writing was a little more telly than showy, but you tend to get away with it more in thrillers. The plot itself wasn’t bad, it just felt a little too much (and not enough?).
Spoilers
- the Wendy plot line just felt meh. Her role just felt irrelevant to the plot. - plot hole with tamsin and Nate re the timeline of them getting burner phones and seeing each other - it’s shown it happened earlier than them moving in next door, but toward the end it is mentioned that they got them after they moved in next door - I personally don’t care for the plot twist - in a first person POV thriller, I don’t like my narrator to be lying to me. So Hayley’s chapter at the very end just feels meh. We’ve spent a whole book with Hayley not knowing what’s going on, leading us to believe she’s a dummy in the dark, and then it comes out that she killed Lola. It’s just not a writing technique I like.
This book is a quick read thriller. The writing is well done and the story pulls you in immediately. The book had me wanting to keep reading to see how the story would unfold. There were several twists and many of them I did not see coming. Every single character in unhinged so it was not clear who was the real problem. The ending left you in a way that a sequel could be possible. I would definitely read more by this author. 3.5 stars
My first book by this author & it was chosen as our book for book club! Was such a great fast paced thriller I did really enjoy! It kept me on my toes and wanting to read/know more, I did try and guess a few theories as almost EVERY character I did not trust at all, but I was wrong each time 🤣 I was a bit gutted about the ending, left me with unanswered questions and a little confused but all in all I did still enjoy the book!
This book kept me guessing all the way through. I felt every character was a suspect by the end. I thoroughly enjoyed that it kept me wanting to read more, was very gripping.
The story begins with a married couple, Hayley and Nate, living in London when new neighbours move in next door. 👩❤️👨🏡Lonely while her husband is frequently away for work, Hayley quickly becomes obsessed with her new best friend, Tamsin 👯
As Hayley grows closer to both Tamsin and her husband, Sebastian, the story takes a shocking turn one evening when Tamsin suggests a “wife swap” for the night. 🤔
After that night, both Tamsin and Nate vanish into thin air, and Hayley is forced to investigate what really happened - without realising just how much danger she’s putting herself in. 🫣
OMG, I flew through this book fast - I couldn’t pull myself away. 🤯 I was completely obsessed and needed to know what happened next. My heart was pounding the entire time. This book is absolutely insane: fast-paced and riveting. 😮
I’m definitely grabbing every book I can get my hands on! 📚 If they’re anything like this one, I’m totally hooked. 😍
Massive thanks to Lisa and Zooloos Book Tours for including me in this tour! I absolutely loved reading this book! ♥️
Everyone in this book is Batshit crazy!!! You genuinely don't know where the story is going to go, I spent the final 40ish pages on the edge of my seat, gasping and stressing throughout it all as everything unravelled. Every time I believed I was on the right track and I knew who did it, a new piece of information was uncovered, and when I tell you the ending was the biggest plot twist, I think my eyebrows were permanently raised throughout the last 40 pages! Definitely a 5 star read and would highly recommend people to read!
Well I’m going to start out by saying this was a good book I gave it four stars because of the ending kind of leaving me with so many questions lol and knowing I won’t get them due to this book being a stand alone lol. I wish it was a series now! This book was so far from what I expected it to be and I’m not complaining about it lol. Loved all of the twist and turns and slaps in the face on who I thought did what and who didn’t! Makes me not want to ever met any of my neighbors 😆
This was such a good book!! I’m not gonna lie tho it did leave me so confused and also with sooooo many more questions when I got to the end of the book 😳 I really wish there was a book two so I can get some answers lol.. but oh well.. overall it was good and I loved the twists and turns!! Definitely kept me on my toes lol & confused so confused 😅
A fun thriller. I was pretty into it, but the last few chapters seemed a bit... rushed and I got a little annoyed with how it got tied up. Still, had a good time though.
what the hell even was this? firstly, very predictibil, writing was so repetitive and overall just not good. characters were insufferable, i honestly been finding so many bad books lately depressing.
Just to read this book, disregard the pile of books that have been sitting on my TBR for ages. Hayley becomes envious when a new couple moves into their neighborhood because they seem to be living the kind of life she wishes she and Nate had. What shocked me was how the past and present collide in this book. It turns out that Hayley was connected to her husband's past, as well as to the new couple, Seb and Tamsin.
Tamsin's idea of a partner swap left me speechless. I honestly don't know why Seb and Nate agreed to it, and Hayley was just as confused about why her husband went along with that arrangement. Throughout the story, no one discovers who killed Tamsin's sister—only Hayley knows the truth.
I went into this one ready for domestic drama, secrets, and a jaw-dropping twist… and at first, it delivered 👀
The setup is strong — two couples, blurred boundaries, and that creeping “something isn’t right” feeling that makes you keep turning the pages. The tension builds nicely and the atmosphere is properly unsettling.
But… the ending? It felt a little flat and rushed. After such a slow-burn build-up, I was expecting a bigger emotional punch or a twist that really shook things up. Instead, it wrapped up quickly and didn’t quite hit the heights the first half promised. What I liked ✨ What I liked easy to binge, and what I didn’t, final part felt rushed, twist lacked the OMG moment more could of been made of the ‘friendship’ and without any spoilers I’ll leave you to consider who I mean! 7/10
The Wife Swap is a gripping psychological thriller full of tension, secrets, and jaw-dropping twists.
This book was such a wild and addictive read. From the very first chapter, I was pulled into the unsettling atmosphere and couldn’t stop turning the pages. What starts off as a seemingly harmless night between two couples quickly spirals into something much darker, and I loved how the tension kept building.
Hayley and Nate’s new neighbours, Tamsin and Seb, seem friendly enough at first, but once the idea of swapping partners is suggested, everything changes. What I thought would just be a scandalous twist turned into a full-on psychological thriller packed with secrets, lies, and shocking revelations.
I really enjoyed how the story was told through Hayley’s perspective. Her doubts, fears, and confusion felt so real, and I found myself questioning every character right along with her. The pacing was sharp, and the suspense was great.
The ending absolutely floored me. It was clever, unexpected, and left me thinking.
I'm a sucker for a great front cover - yes i judge books by their covers. This one enticed me in and had me intrigued. The premise also sounded interesting, so i was sold and ready to disregard the piles of books that have been on my tbr for longer 🙈.
On the surface, Hayley seems bored with her life. When her new neighbours move in she begins to covet what they have because they seem to be living the life she wishes she had.
The past and the present collide in this thrilling read, as Hayley wonders whether her neighbours' lives are as perfect as they seem and will things ever be the same again?
The main character made some terrible choices throughout and had me shouting 'don't do it!' There are some parts in the middle that didn't completely make sense but I feel it was intentional to make the situation feel more tense.
The end reveal and epilogue stunned me and had me questioning a lot of what I had read. Overall, I enjoyed this book and will try more books by this author.
There’s nothing better than a psychological thriller that has twists and turns to keep you guessing right until the end and this one definitely fits the bill!
It’s a slow burn to begin with but once the fateful night of the wife swap takes place, the tension ramps up tenfold!
I admit to not really liking any of the characters initially and I think this is a clever ploy by the author as it definitely adds to the mistrust as the plot develops.
I enjoyed the inclusion of the diary, the photos in the study and the mysterious shadows lurking around the gap in the garden fence as they all serve to keep the reader questioning their own judgement on how deeply each of the characters are involved.
Despite thinking I had it all sewn up, the final reveal(s) certainly knocked me off-kilter and I loved how there were still some unanswered questions even after turning the final page.
