What do you think?

Devil's Ivy
The world ended in ash and silence. What rose from the ruins called itself peace.
They promised a future without age, without waste. Balance. Sustainability. But at a cost.
What would you be willing to pay? What would you be willing to sacrifice?
Through sacrifice, we endure.
But even in the dark, something stirs— a seed of memory, of defiance, pushing through the cracks of a world engineered to forget. Something tender. Something human. Not just survival, but devotion that blooms in the depths of despair.
What they buried is beginning to grow.
A.K. TALON explores how hope and humanity endure in the darkest circumstances. Devil's Ivy is a debut novel.

May 21, 2026Devil’s Ivy by A.K. Talon created such a haunting and emotionally heavy atmosphere from the very beginning. I really liked how the story seemed to balance dystopian destruction with something much more intimate underneath it all. The idea of a world rebuilt around sacrifice and controlled peace felt unsettling in a way that stayed in my mind long after reading about it.
What stood out most to me was the emotional undercurrent running beneath the darker themes. Even with all the silence, ruin, and manipulation surrounding the world, there was still this persistent feeling of humanity trying to survive beneath the surface. The imagery throughout the story felt vivid and sharp, especially the contrast between oppression and the quieter sense of hope and devotion slowly growing through the cracks.
It felt less like a straightforward dystopian story and more like something reflective, eerie, and emotionally layered. The kind of story that quietly lingers with you afterward.

This is a dark and thought-provoking book that explores survival, sacrifice, and the fragile persistence of humanity in a controlled world. The premise immediately draws you in, especially with the idea of a society built on “balance” that comes at an unseen cost.
What stands out most is the atmosphere, there is a quiet intensity running through the narrative, where even small hints of memory and defiance feel significant. The contrast between a manufactured peace and the underlying human need for connection and meaning adds depth to the story.
It is a reflective and immersive read that leans into both dystopian tension and emotional undertones, leaving a lasting impression of hope emerging even in the darkest conditions.

Devil’s Ivy is a dark, thought-provoking dystopian novel that explores survival, sacrifice, and what it means to remain human in a controlled world. The atmosphere is haunting, with a strong sense of unease that lingers throughout. The story leans into big themes memory, identity, and resistance while weaving in a quiet but powerful emotional core. It’s not just about survival, but about connection and the resilience of hope, even in the bleakest conditions.
Overall, this is a compelling debut that will appeal to readers who enjoy introspective, slow-burn dystopian fiction.

Devils Ivy is a completely different genre from my usual reads but nonetheless had me transfixed and totally absorbed within the storyline!!
The rollercoaster had my emotions constantly changing from fear, expectation, excitement, anger and hope as I felt I was part of what was going on.
A.K. Talon writes with such passion, the characters are so real, and the climax ending was so right, and then the twist….is there more to come…….

Perfect book for readers who like dystopia themed books. Book is written from perspective of few people (it's another big plus from me that characters are adult) so we can see story from different points of view, definitely recommend.
