Objects of Desire #1

Bedding the Bedding: A Sentient Object Romance

Rate this book
I was just fired from my job, and the house my ex-boyfriend owns is falling down around me. There’s nothing tying me to this town, so I decide to get a fresh start.

Newport is adorable. The kind of small, friendly town where people smile at you on purpose. Even better, the antique store that hires me comes with a shockingly affordable apartment. It feels like I’ve finally stumbled into a version of life that isn’t trying to crush me.

And then the dreams start.

These aren’t normal dreams. Not stress dreams. Not even “oh no, I wore underwear to homeroom” dreams. No, these are sexy dreams. Ridiculously sexy dreams.

One night I dream my sheets are touching me in ways my ex could never imagine. And honestly? Good for me.

Except, I might not be dreaming.

Because my bedding seems very…involved. And skilled. And real. Which is ridiculous. Impossible, even. A bedding set can’t be the best lover I’ve ever had.

Right?

Idk what I just read, I probably wouldn’t recommend unless you’re into sentient romance, which I have found out isn’t my taste. Better luck next time

Bedding the Bedding. Sentient Object Romance.
I’ve read sentient romances before, make sure before you read this short story that you are are fully aware of what you’re getting into. Literally this is an FMC who has sexy time with her bedding.

Even though it doesn’t have much progression to the story I enjoyed the additional tidbit of Nikki’s allergy to apples and the fun way Anya, the waitress at the cute diner/coffeeshop, says she will remember that tidbit because Nikki reminds her of Snow White. 🍎

For being such a quick read there is a lot of story in this read, we meet some great characters including Gertie, a sweet, and sometimes foul mouthed grandmother-ish character who becomes Nikki’s landlord and boss, we also get Eva, a fun new bestie then there is Nick the douchey ex.

Nikki leaves her past behind to find something better, she finds herself in a small town with a new job and apartment… and of course some special bedding that is silky and soft and knows how to make her feel ah-mazing.
Want more? Grab this short read that will make you want your own set of special silk sheets.

Bedding the Bedding - Annara Layne

I loved the story. I loved the sub plot with Nikki and her ex and I also loved Nikki having a personal growth journey and not letting Nick control her. I loved the writing and thought it was so addictive. I definitely will have to read the other books in the series.

Funny, cute, sweet...inexplicable

This was definitely not what I expected. I thought this would relate back to some mythological Greco-Roman nymph or demigod or something, maybe a phantom or haunting, but this was just inexplicable magic at its finest. Strange but everything got moderately wrapped up in the end and it was a nice little short story that had all the small town feels. I would re-read this just for the antics of the side characters in the smal town of Newport.

For one of my first sentient romances this was different than I was expecting. Yes I got some silly smut but I also enjoyed seeing the journey that Nikki went on and how she managed to find herself and start a brand new life after life dealt her some crappy hands. Intirgued by the rest of this series.

Taking off a star because that ending left me hanging and not in a good way! I wanted more story immediately!!! This was so stupid in the best way, I had a great time. I even loved that there was some drama and a decent plot. I cannot wait to read more from this author.

crazy first book of the year

more like 2.5 ⭐️ clearly respects the genre but the plot could’ve been a little tighter—it felt like it ended on a weird spot and one of the subplots never really resolved super well

A weirdly good read.

This short story is by far, the oddest thing that I've ever read in my life. But also, weirdly good and surprisingly intriguing. When life and men especially fail you... just go home and let your sheets take care of you. LOL. It's worth the read!

Love it.
Object romance just hits different. It’s silly. It’s fun and heartfelt.

I would buy a set

Good quick read. Some typos but easy to figure out what it's supposed to say. Definitely interesting and at times pretty hot.

I loved it! More emotion and character development than I expected. I only wished the sheet seller had told her more, but it was a short, sweet read.

May this love find me

I already have a strong relationship with my bed, but this? This could work, too.
It's actually quite a pleasant read, and I really enjoyed every minute.

Ok but like. I wanted more background. WHY were they sentient. I realize that wasn’t the POINT but I have to imagine there was some sort of divine mischief!!!
