Nope. Among the many great things to come out of New Zealand (the Lord of the Rings movies, cats that paint, my mom) is a bird called the tui—not as well known as the kiwi, but a heck of a lot noisier!
I was born July 31 (same birthday as Harry Potter!) in Caracas, Venezuela, and lived in Asuncion, Paraguay; Miami, Florida; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, before moving to New Jersey in high school, where I started doing theatre—mostly backstage work, because (a) it was fun, and (b) you got to hang out in the dark with cute boys. (Er, I mean . . . because it was artistically fulfilling, yes.)
I graduated from Williams College in ’98 and I currently live in Boston with my husband, my perfect new baby, and my adorable yoodle Sunshine (what’s a yoodle? A puppy that’s three-quarters poodle and one-quarter Yorkshire terrier, of course!).
Much to my parents’ relief, I abandoned my theatrical aspirations after college for the far more stable and lucrative career of fiction writing.
My first two official books were beginning readers, part of Grosset & Dunlap’s “First Friends” series for kids learning to read. MEET MO AND ELLA is tough to find now, but FUN WITH MO AND ELLA should still be out there somewhere.
My first novel for teenagers was THIS MUST BE LOVE, which retells Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream in a modern-day high school, from the POV of the two heroines, Hermia and Helena.

This is one of the best short stories series I have ever read. I am going to post all of the descriptions for each book on here. I highly recommend, definitely.

Ugh.
You know when you read a book series (like Wings of Fire) and absolutely love everything about it? And you just want to live in that world forever and ever, but you don't want to re-read the books? NOVVEELLAASS!!!!
This was so perfect (I say that about every Wings of Fire Book, but ignore that)!!!!! Just a quick glimpse into a side characters life for like 40 pages and IT'S STILL A FIVE STAR BECAUSE TUI T SUTHERLAND IS FREEKING AWESOME!!!!!!
I love it when she makes those personalities that are rough, but obviously have a sweet side (Like Tsunami, Winter, Sundew, Peril, those people?), and Fiercetooth was no exception. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS EVER MENTIONED THAT SHE LOVED STRONGWINGS OR IF I JUST MISSED THAT BECAUSE I'M BLIND, BUT WHAT THE HECK!?!

But anywaaaayyyyys, I went into this honestly not expecting much great out of it, because (a) I never really cared for Fiercetooth, especially as a protagonist... maybe just cause she was evil... not sure. And (b) because it was 40 pages of her literally in a prison cell.... like... not the most exciting plot to me.

It was Fiercerooth, that stupid dragon, exchanging notes with a SandWing guard, Saguaro, another stupid dragon. Fiercetooth was telling her stoorryyyyy and Saguaro was... not important, don't care for her...
The day Tui writes a book in this world that I dislike, will be (WOULD BE*) tragic.

I was thinking that it would be longer....... I was thinking that it was going to be longer like a normal Wings of fire. But it was a very short book 47 pages. I was confused about the book it hopped back and forth, I could not fallow it. I know the point of story but it was just a bunch of notes.

Re-read i suppose I never put reviews for my wof books so this is new. I really like fierceteeth and strongwings idk how I felt the first time buttt they're cute so 🤷♀️
re-read im now learning i've read this book 3 times now wow i still believe that fierceteeth and strongwings are cute lol but i read this to my younger sister so she would sleep but i ended up enjoying it myself lol

It was really interesting seeing through Fierceteeths point of view because you get to see where all of her anger comes from and also you get to see her bond with Strongwings

Even though this was kinda short, I love the romance! I also like reading in Fierceteeth's pov. It's an absolutely new perspective, which makes this book/winglet really interesting.
No swearing/cursing
Clean romance.
I think anyone 9+ can read it, because it's easier to understand as you get older, but you have to read the book series first to understand it.

I'll say it again, for the fifteenth time or so, I really like this series. This book is not part of the series proper, but it explorers a little of the backstory of characters we met. I enjoyed getting some insight into the characters we've met before. That is actually a big part of the series for me. You meet some dragons in a book that is written from one particular dragon's perspective and then later you might be reading a book that is written from a dragon's perspective who you met in an earlier book. It's not the same story from a different perspective, it's just the story continueing, but now you are learning about events from the perspective of another character. So not only does the overall story progress, but you really get to know many characters as you go. This story was unique for the series so far in that it was told using letters that two of the characters sent back and forth to each other.

After reading the first six books in the series this one was disappointing. I had read it in a volume of mixed Winglet chapters before starting the series and expecting more from the actual book.

I didn't particularly care about reading about Fierceteeth and Strongwings, but it's not a bad book by any means, either.

I was a little disappointed, I guess I just thought this would be better. I love Wings of Fire, but I would honestly skip over these. If you are a fanatic, then it would be go for you, but...I read so many different series at this point, I get disappointed easily.

I read this book because I enjoyed the wings of fire series. This book was very slow paced and I personally did not enjoy it.

This was a quick read. I enjoyed reading about Fierceteeth's background, but the story felt incomplete. The ending was very abrupt.

Was ok. Didn't capture my interest like other books in the series did. Didn't really lend any more to series really. Written letter style, i.e. two dragons writing letters/notes to each other.

I think this is an excellent book/series, I am working on my own story and this is providing some inspiration for my book. To conclude, I just really like this series.

Not a lot to say about this one. It's a short story about a character we've seen some of in the main books getting a bit more backstory and personality, which perfectly encapsulates why I am falling so deep in love with these books. She was fun, even if she wasn't strictly a protagonist, she was interesting, and I feel it's a bit of a cop out but I'm gonna say it anyway.
Better love story than A Court of Thorns and Roses (It's silly to reiterate the meme about 'still a better love story than Twilight' because at this point that's just beating a dead werewolf.) I know I keep returning to this weird point of contention for me but I don't know how a short story that's for literal children that takes place over about 10-12k words has better chemistry between the characters than entire bibliographies of writers that specifically write romance.
I am getting more romance from Animorphs, Wings of Fire, and Cozy stuff like Legends & Lattes or The Spellshop than I am from books specifically catered to romance readers. It makes me seriously resent the entire genre because I CRAVE what it promises (romance, fantasy, and spice) so it's not like I'm going in with an anti-romantasy bias when I say the genre honestly sucks and only appeals to people who don't know better or don't care about quality. The Romance isn't romantic. But here? In this little short story about mean young dragons sharing stories with each other? This I believed. This had a romance that developed in a way I actually thought was cute as hell. When FierceTeeth realized that he was into her? Made me smile.
This isn't a romance novel and it does cute lil' dragon romance better than anything that you're likely to see on display at your local book store. The fact that THIS short story about basically nothing with minimal plot and character interaction has better romance than books dedicated to romance infuriates me. It makes me love this book more, but it makes me want to legitimately retroactively lower the score of every romantasy that made me do a double take when the narrator was telling me they loved this person without ever showing a lick of affection.
It's really not what I should be focusing on in these stories and mini reviews but since Prisoners wasn't all that substantial and just had the same things I love about the rest of the series (world building, characters, excellent dialogue, etc) I mostly coulda just come in and said 'is good. Nice little something on top of what I already loved, like a tasty glaze on a moist cake' and called it a day. Instead it made me realize just how broad the disparity is between skill with writers writing relationships.

A short, but nice story featuring Fierceteeth and the reasons why she did what she did in the series.
I can always appreciate a confident and ambitious charcter who has no problem loving herself and knowing that she is special and can do great things; who is willing to do whatever it takes to help her tribe survive.
This small story reminded me why the Nightwings along with the Rainwings are my favorite tribe. The way they grew up in that literal unhealthy environment on the volcano; and Fireceteeth experiencing something as simple as actual breathable air, plentiful food and sunshine that we honestly take for granted. Wow. My heart.
A nice addition to the Wings of Fire series.
I look forward to the next short story!

I give this book a 5 star because it adds on to the wings of fire books witch are awesome. I also love this book because it has so many cliff hangers, so when I have to stop reading it I don't know what's going to happen next and I want to keep reading! I just like the whole series is the best😀! By far my favorite book series📖

This book was really interesting- I think it was the first Winglet I read? I don’t remember, since I’m reviewing these all at once.
This is different than what you would normally see in Wings of Fire because it’s like a note being passed between a guard, Saguaro, and a NightWing prisoner, Fierceteeth. You have to read the actual series to understand the whole Fierceteeth-Starflight-prisoner thing.
Despite it being different, I liked it! It wasn’t my favorite but I liked to hear dragons talking in 1st person. Recommended: check!

This was disappointing, and felt more like an incomplete teaser than an actual story. It's very short and lacks the action and world connections of the other WoF books. The characters are unlikable and there's never enough growth for them to become likable (contrary to the initially unlikable point of view characters in other WoF books). I'm unsure if this story will be continued in Winglets #2, and I'm not sure I care to find out.

This is basically a short story/teaser for the next book. It has the older sister of the nightwing communicating with another dragon when she's imprisoned and plotting her comeback. This was the first Wings of Fire book that my kids weren't nuts about.

Told in a very different style from the Wings of Fury series, this story tells the story of Feirceteeth trying to obtain freedom for herself and Strongwings.
I really love the part where she explains to the Sandwing guard why Strongwings is so important to her. For a brief moment she didn't seem so bad.
