Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this book in exchange for an honest review. I don't recall ever reading a book like this before. It's very interesting to get the behind the scenes look at what it takes to be a supervisor while living in a group home and the toll if can take on everyone. Some of the boys' stories are heartbreaking but I can tell Mr D made a positive difference in many of their lives.
An open and very honest writing of the authors life supervising a group home for young boys and men. These young people are not to be pitied but understood and the author does a very good job in trying to get you to try to feel a bit what it feels like to be them. The author and others like him are truly unsung heroes as it takes a special individual to dedicate even a portion of their life to this. To know you have made a difference in some lives must feel extraordinary. A very interesting read to not only learn about the people involved but the system itself. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
