Sapphiria's only hope lies north, into hell.Sapphiria, helped by the humans she's sworn to protect, defeated the Bane's undead horde. But now the squishies find themselves on the brink of collapse. Astralis has exhausted its supply of mana, and without magic, the next attack will crush them.
Forced to launch an expedition into Icerend, Sapphiria has no choice but to build a Snowpiercer. . Ahead lies a Convergence filled with mana crystals...and horrors beyond the laws of reality.
The baleful energies of Icerend have turned the animals there into relentless killing machines. As she advances, they pour from the north and into the valley, ever more numerous, and ever more deadly.
Either she will crush the abominations in her way and bring back the crystals they desperately need, or the relentless undead and the deformed horrors from the north will lay waste to all she fought so hard to save.
Sapphiria had defeated the Bane, however the squishies she had vowed to protect in Astralis were now running out of mana, and without this their magic powers would die. Their only hope was to travel to Icerend in the north, find a convergence in order to acquire as many mana crystals as possible. However, Icerend was no party, it was a place of horror, full of radiation, had a tendency to be struck by storms and had monsters which these same storms transformed into things out of nightmares. Sapphiria and her humans had many preparations to carry out before venturing to the north, the main one being the creation of the snowpiercer which would house the many squishies who were to accopany Sapphiria across the northern wastes. Once there she once again had to pretend to be a human so her squishies would not suspect whilst on the other hand had to defeat the monsters they were facing singlehandedly or risk losing everything. This is one hell of an adventure, very thrilling to read, but I would not have liked to be part of the mission. Back in Astralis another threat was looming, and Sapphiria had to return as quickly as possible before all she'd ventured for would be lost topping the list would be Kalia, who she'd give her life for! Onward to book 3 and I am hoping for a bit of romance apart from the deadly survival ongoing battles.
This book is a fast and exciting read. Lots of action, but also a great leavening of humour and some interesting character development. Basically everything one could want for a lazy afternoon read.
Lesbian Cyborg Space Fleet Admiral from another galaxy falls for Lesbian Noble Mage Magister from first world ever found to actually have magic. Also bad guys.
