From the very first page, I was completely hooked and ended up reading this in one sitting. The chemistry between Georgie and James is electric; the sparks between them are palpable throughout the entire story. This book strikes the perfect balance of spice, emotional depth, humor, and drama, all leading to a very satisfying HEA. It’s an easy 5-star read for me, and I’m officially a fan of this author’s work.
Huge thanks to Erin for the opportunity to read this! I am already counting down the days until I can read Josh’s story.

Thank you Erin for the ARC!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars

I went into Set the Record Straight completely blind. Erin Oliver asked me to read it, and I figured, why not? The cover was cute, so how bad could it be? Well… I was not prepared for how blown away I’d be.

This book isn’t just good it’s amazing.

James is everything. Truly the kind of book boyfriend every woman wants. The way he loves Georgie, supports her, and shows up for her had me swooning nonstop. And his relationship with Weston? My heart. The love, patience, and care he shows made this story so much deeper and more emotional than I expected.

The relationship between James and Georgie felt real, layered, and beautifully written. Their connection pulled me in fast and never let go. I laughed, I melted, and I was completely invested from start to finish.

This is book two in the Outlaw series, and I’ll be honest I haven’t read book one yet. But after this? That is definitely changing. This book works perfectly as a standalone, so don’t let that stop you, but now I need more from this world.

If you’re on the fence, don’t be. Set the Record Straight exceeded every expectation I didn’t even know I had. Erin Oliver just earned herself a new must read author for me.

“I love you for your sweet disposition, your quiet strength, your loud laugh, your ability to spread love to everyone around you even when the world hasn’t given nearly enough love back to you.” - James Harper

@authorerinolivier blew me away with Set the Record Straight. Contemporary romance is not usually my jam, and I am SO glad I took a step out of my comfort zone to read this. While it is the second in the Outlaw series, you can absolutely read it without having read the first.

This book hit close to home for me for a handful of reasons. I'll start by saying that, unlike Georgie and Nolan, my co-parenting situation is wonderful. However, my husband is absolutely my child's father, just as much as her bio-dad. I really related to Georgie because, for a long time, my self-worth was tied to how I believed other people perceived me and my size. My husband helped by breaking me free from that mentality. He helped by showing me that I was better than just taking what I assumed I deserved in life and in love. James's words and actions reminded me a lot of my husband.

Truly, the best things about this book are the relatable, complex characters and the happy ending that they deserved.

This book sucked me right in! I thought the first book, Every Now and Then, held all the cards as far as amazing characters.

I was wrong. James and Georgie were so lovely. The fake marriage trope is one that I love and this was so well done!

I loved James and how his grumpy exterior really just hid a soft mushy center. He was the ultimate care taker and he had a dirty mouth that make me blush.

Georgie was the sweetest girl and she made me feel so seen. I wanted to hug her so hard for all she went through as a child and leading up to meeting James. I adored her and loved watching her grow.

I had all the feels while reading this. I laughed, cried, and very much enjoyed the ride.

Read if you enjoy:
Found family
Fake marriage
Curvy/plus size FMC
Age gap
Drummer MMC
Not his baby

Thank you so much, Erin for the early read!🩷

Thank you Erin for the ARC! *This is my very first ever ARC. I'm so thankful for the opportunity and it was a bit of a learning curve for me. I had no idea what went into them, but they seemed like fun. I'm a fairly new reviewer. While this is my first ARC and I received an advanced copy, I will always provide honest feedback. I, for one, have read reviews that I can tell were given to them and it was more obvious as I read the story. You won't find that here :) *

✨ Romance Comfort-Read Alert ✨

This review comes from a reader who loves:
🛑 No cheating / no OW-OM drama
💞 Low angst (together > apart)
🚫💔 No third-act breakup — I’m tired and I want them happy
👑 Strong FMC
💪 Take-charge MMC
🔥 Reformed playboy > current manwhore, but never manwhore is preferred
💬 Miscommunication allowed if resolved like adults
🏡 HEA ALWAYS

I read for joy, vibes, and emotional safety. If you’re here for chaos and pain… we might not be reading the same book 😌📚 I also tend not to rework the summary into reviews because chances are you’ve already read it to get to the book review part of the show.

My Review:
💞 I am 100% ALWAYS going to love a MMC refer to his FMC as "Darlin'" I'll melt immediately and do whatever they ask, and this quote lands right: "Darlin’. That endearment, sliding from his lips with ease, hits me like a sucker punch." James is such a good man. **swoony**
💞 Georgie is pregnant, and her meet cute-ish with James involves an accident. From the jump, James is thoughtful, caring, and attentive. He goes with her to the hospital, lets the staff think she is his wife/her baby is his. He is a famous drummer, and he just jumped into this situation that his PR team would NEVER encourage. He's a stand-up man. Green flags abound. He can seem a bit grumpy, but he's gooshy for her. As someone who has a man who, on the outside appears to be rough and grumpy, but is gooshy for me-I can hang with this type.
💞 Our man sports the backwards ball cap. Nothing more to say.
🥵 James and his filthy mouth. "When she drops to straddle my face, I’m convinced this is heaven"
🥵“You make me fucking feral, Georgie. You. Are. Mine.”

James is absolutely book boyfriend goals. He loves and supports her. And he's funny. When she is deciding on a name for her kid, he references one of my all time favorite threads: Tradgeigh names, and man does she cycle through several. Thank God for James putting her on the right track. LOL

Georgie, God bless her, her past is heavy. She has A LOT to overcome and work through. This book has heart, emotional depth, romance, it's funny, plus size FMC, little bit of an age-gap...All in all, this is a good read, I read it so fast! You will not be disappointed!

✨ Her place in my life isn't temporary. With me, she's found a home. ✨

🎵 ARC Review: Set the Record Straight by Erin Olivier

First off, before we get into the review, I read this in 1 day.  If that tells you anything, do yourself a favor and add this one to your TBR immediately.

Releasing January 29th, Set the Record Straight is book two in the Outlaw series, and as a brand‑new reader of Erin Olivier, I could not be more thrilled that this ARC landed in my hands. I devoured every single page.  If you haven’t read book one yet (like me), you’ll be grabbing it the second you finish this. And book three? I’m already counting down the days.

This story follows Georgie and James through a tangled, emotional, beautifully messy journey built on misunderstandings, unexpected connection, and the slow, steady work of learning to trust again.

Georgie, 24, is homeless, pregnant, and out of options when she crashes, literally, into James’ life. What starts as a chaotic misunderstanding spirals into a lie neither of them knows how to untangle. But James, 35, steps up in a way he never had to. He opens his home, his heart, and his entire world to Georgie and her newborn son, offering not just safety but stability, tenderness, and the kind of love she’s never been shown.

Georgie’s past is heavy. Absent parents, the loss of her nanna, and an ex who left scars deeper than she realizes. Trusting anyone feels impossible. But James is patient, gentle, and unwavering. He sees her worth long before she does, and watching him show up for her again and again made me melt. I found myself rooting for Georgie to finally receive the love she deserved and for James to fill the emptiness he’s carried with the family he never expected to find.

Tropes you'll find:

🎵Age gap

🎵Fake marriage

🎵Plus‑size FMC

🎵Drummer/Celebrity MMC

🎵Found family

🎵A whole lot of heart

This book surprised me in the best ways. The twists were unexpected, the emotional beats hit perfectly, and the character growth was so satisfying. The entire cast shines, which is exactly why book one is now next on my list. And while I wasn’t Josh’s biggest fan for most of the story, Erin Olivier completely flipped my opinion by the end… and now I’m very ready for his book!

Paris Rona's ARC book review

This book is a wild ride!!! The beginning wraps you right in the middle of the action, and is unconventional, but that's what made it memorable. It's a breath of fresh air to see the main couple meet like that, so immediately I was hooked! The development of the main couple's relationship (Georgie and James) is so authentic and real, it made me root for them against all odds. I loved how James keeps pining over Georgie, and immediately knows that he has feelings for her. He's definitely on my top MMC's because he's just so solid and a rock, and while he makes mistakes, he definitely knows how to fix it. I love an MMC tuned to his emotions and knows what he wants. Georgie is also one of my fav FMC's as well because she's such a fighter, and in the face of adversity, rises to the challenge and always keeps sight of what matters-Weston and James, in that order. She went through so much and through James' love became stronger and more self assured. I feel like her and I could be besties irl which is a testament to how good of a character she is and how much she changed overtime. I loved that there were multiple conflicts between family members, society and the legal system. Georgie and James were so solid as a couple; It really was them against the world, which I LOVE, because usually it's a journey for a couple to get together, but for them they got together, and then they dealt with their problems together. The spicy scenes were out of this world! This might be one of the spiciest books I've read, and they were amazing! The scenes were also some that I don't see often in romance, which is super important, because you really get invested in the progression of their relationship. I'm still in awe that this book is so good, and the ending was chef's kiss! I loved all of the side characters (looking at you Josh, Hayes and Annabelle!) and can't wait to read Josh's (James' brother) book next! Erin Olivier has become one of my top favorite auto buy authors and I can't wait for what's coming up soon!

✨ARC REVIEW✨

⭐️: 5
🌶️: 3

💭: Erin Olivier delivered an absolute powerhouse of a romance in under 400 pages, and honestly? I don’t know how she pulled it off so beautifully. Sweet, funny, unconventional, emotionally rich, and packed with found family goodness - with just a touch of suspense that I loved.

Georgie is at the lowest point of her life - 34 weeks pregnant, fiercely independent, and carrying the weight of a lifetime of being used and overlooked. Her situation is far from ideal, but her strength and quiet resilience make her impossible not to root for.

Enter James. Drummer for a famous country band. Steady, loyal, dependable… and a broody loner who spends his downtime restoring vintage cars. When Georgie quite literally crashes into his life, we get the ultimate cinnamon-roll-meets-moody-musician hero - and I was 18% in when I realized I was fully obsessed. Like… sweating while typing this level of obsessed.

What unfolds over just a few weeks is raw, tender, and achingly beautiful. You won’t be able to do anything but root for James and Georgie - even when it all starts with one impossible choice: set the record straight… or pretend to be fake married.

And listen. Sweet, closed-off Georgie absolutely does something to James. Because along with his devotion comes a filthy-mouthed version of him that will have you fully fanning yourself. You’ve been warned. 🔥

This story felt perfectly balanced. I laughed, held my breath, swooned hard, and fell completely in love. James and Georgie gave me all the feels, and the band family? You’re going to adore them.

This is book two in the Outlaw series - you can read it as a standalone, but I highly recommend starting with book one. I’m still an official Erin Olivier fan for life… though she does owe me for using the same name as my son 😂 (totally kidding😘).

After a Rube Goldberg-esque series of events involving 3 vehicles, a country road and a very pregnant homeless woman, James finds himself comforting Georgie while she deals with having a baby with no support. It is really nice to see how James just sees a lack of help and love then does everything he can to be what Georgie needs. Understandably Georgie is wary of anyone supposedly giving her things for free, but she goes along with it for the sake of his image.
From the start, James is such a strong, stable person. He is so sweet and swoony the whole time he is figuring out why he is drawn so strongly to this too young girl who he just met. It was fun to watch as Georgie slowly starts to believe James' compliments and sincere words. I loved the way the Outlaw family showed up for him once they saw he was so invested. It was really sweet the way they all joined in to accept and love the new members of their little family. It was one of my favorite things in the first book too.
And of course you can't blame Georgie for being into her personal savior when he does pretty much anything for her. From the gifts that just show up for her, to taking care of and restoring her truck, he ticks all the thoughtful, sexy, caretaker boxes.
I really enjoyed the book overall, it gave me all the feels, and still kept me laughing at times too. It was sexy while still being heartfelt. I wish there had been a little more with the band, but I'm sure there will be more in the next book in the series. This book is great for anyone who likes to see a man step up and take care of his chosen woman, and a woman step into the amazing woman she should always have been had she been shown a little love from day one.

✨ Her place in my life isn't temporary. With me, she's found a home. ✨

Set The Record Straight is book two in the Outlaw series, which is to be a collection of interconnected standalones by Erin Olivier.

While I'm still new to contemporary romances, this one knocked it out of the freakin park! This was a mix of heartbreak and overcoming the traumas of past abuse as well as a new life and found family.

I completely fell head over heels for James (which was extremely surprising because he's technically a blonde and I don't do blondes 🤣) and his grumpy but very caring and considerate personality. Georgette had such a rough life and while she's trying to make the best of an insane situation for the sake of her child, she has a hard time trusting and fully opening up. The chemistry between the two was so instant and delicious, I stayed up WAY too late last night because I was so invested. And when things finally start heating up...🥵 I ain't lyin'.

This had a very good representation of past mental abuse and the hardships of trying to overcome the learned behavior and thought process behind it as well! 💕

Even after finishing the book, I still haven't forgiven Josh (James's brother) for the things he said about my Georgie 😒 so he's gonna need one hell of a redemption arc in the next book!

Absolutely enjoyed this one, it was fast paced and was written quite well, I have zero complaints (except about Josh 😡). I highly recommend picking this up when it releases January 29th! ✨

For those who love the following tropes:
Age gap
Fake marriage
Not his baby
Found family
Forced proximity
Spicy slow burn 🥵

Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC

Every Now and Then is book one in the series, and I loved that one so I couldn’t wait to read Set the Record Straight. I really enjoyed this one too especially the way Georgie “crashed” into James’s life… like literally. He took her to the hospital because she was pregnant and in labor!! So the medical team thought they were married and so their fake marriage started right after they met. So funny right?!! And to make it even better James is a drummer in a famous band.

Georgie is a single mom who is struggling since her ex boyfriend left her when she told him she was pregnant. James offers her and her baby to live in his house for a few months until she gets on her feet. And of course, with him being famous all eyes are on him and everyone is wondering why he has a new girl and a new baby. The public is very curious and wants all the details.

Overtime, their fake marriage doesn’t take long for both of them to notice they have real feelings for one another. Georgie has trust issues from her ex, and James is willing to do anything and everything to show her that his feelings are genuine and he’s not going anywhere.

I also honestly loved how hands on James is with Georgie’s baby. He gets her everything she needs for the baby. Offers to take the baby so she can catch up on sleep, take a shower, eat, whatever she needs he’s there with open arms and ready to help. That was such a great part of the story, James is protective and so supportive. I definitely recommend reading this book. Just be sure to start with book one Every Now and Then.

In a definite meet-cute moment, an accident leads to a fake relationship that becomes so much more in this completely heartwarming romance.

The characters are instantly lovable, and I fell for James right away. He’s the best kind of cinnamon roll—sexy, talented, caring, and fiercely supportive. When he meets Georgie after a car accident—pregnant, alone, broke, and afraid—his protective instincts roar to life. He quickly steps into the role of the rich and famous knight in shining armor.

Filled with humor, found family, and tender romance, this is an easy and engaging read. It doesn’t take long to become invested in the story, and the desire to see a true happily ever after is strong.

The story is not without conflict. Georgie is haunted by a slimy, verbally abusive ex-boyfriend who left her with lingering self-esteem issues. She has a desperate need to remain emotionally guarded, and she distrusts her own heart. This leads to a mid-book miscommunication trope that may be frustrating for some readers.

At times, the dialogue felt slightly immature, particularly considering the FMC is 24 and the MMC is 35 and portrayed as emotionally mature. There is also frequent use of creative euphemisms during intimate scenes. While these elements weren’t entirely to my taste, they didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable romance.

3.75 stars rounded up to 4 stars.

Please be mindful of the trigger warnings if you are sensitive to themes of emotional and/or physical abuse.

I was provided an advanced copy of this book. My review and my opinions are my own.

First of all, I've found myself a new favorite author. I'm so obsessed with these books by Erin and I'll read anything she writes.

This is book two in the Outlaw series and I recently discovered Erin and her books. This series is going to be interconnected standalones.

This book was a rollercoaster of emotions. It's a mix of overcoming trauma from the past and heartbreak and now trying to figure a new life.

I want to give James a massive shoutout. What a MMC. I am obsessed. He is a bit grumpy but most of all he's caring and loving. Georgie is just the bestest. I love her and she deserves the entire world and more. Weston, James and Georgie is just the perfect family and I loved to follow their journey.

The chemistry between James and Georgie was spot on. I loved it. The spice was spiceing. And the slow burn was slow burning.

I am obsessed with this book and I can't wait to see what comes next. I loved this book and I'll recommend it to everyone. This was such a beautiful read and I HIGHLY recommend it besties.

Erin you have done such an amazing job with this book. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it 🥹🫶💗

I have been wanting to read this book since I read the first in the series. The anticipation was high, and Set the Record Straight lived up to it. I loved this one so much. The found family, the care taking, the swoony moments, the chorus, I couldn't get enough. The story is set over several months, but I felt like it moved at a good pace, and I loved there was no third act break up. One of the side characters was on my shit list, and they only half redeemed themselves, they need to do a little more in the next book to make up completely. This overall is such a lovely read.

James, our MMC, hes one swoony mfer, honestly. The mouth on that man was knuckle, biting good, and just how he kept showing up for Georgie I was a puddle. I loved how fierce he loved not only Georgie but his big love for Weston, too. Like straight away, even though he was not biologically his baby, he was still all in on being his father. He had massive caretaking vibes, which were just *chefs kiss*. Just a big old puddle over this man.

Georgie, our FMC, had a hard life and was not in a good place when she first meets James, but she's no dummy so when be offers to help she takes it and I loved her for her sensibility. It took a while for her to trust, but when she did, they were so beautiful together. I loved she was plus size and had insecurities like we all do but didn't let it stop her get the love she deserved.

I was so surprised by this book! This author is new to me and I was invited to be an ARC reader for this book. I was excited to read it but since it was the second in the series I went back and read “every now and then” first. I really enjoyed that book so I was excited to get into this one and get James story. I was drawn in from the beginning! Right away you meet James as he is driving down the road and then gets into a car accident. It turns out he was rear ended by Georgie, whose water broke and was in labor. Through a series of events the paramedics end up believing he is her husband and he goes along with it and ends up at the hospital with her. At first I thought it was funny that this drummer playboy type would end up in this situation. But he just jumped in right away and was there for her and her baby. I thought it was sweet how protective he was, even when they were strangers. As the story develops they become friends and then more. I loved seeing Georgie overcome her past traumas and issues with her body image and how patient James was with her. This was a slow burn but so perfect. And when the spice hits, it hits good! They had so much chemistry.
I am excited for the next book in this series. And I will definitely be keeping this author on my radar!

*I received an arc for this book but this is my honest review.

This story starts with an unconventional "meet-cute" that immediately pulls you in. Georgie is a heroine who has been through a lot, and still is. Her vulnerability feels raw and realistic. James, a drummer living a high-profile life, turns out to be grounded, patient, a bit of a grump, and deeply kind. The circumstances that bring them together are unusual, but the emotional connection that follows feels genuine and earned.

I appreciated how the book explores trust, healing, and self-worth, especially when it comes to overcoming past trauma and learning to believe you deserve love. The side characters add tension and depth, even when their actions are frustrating, and the emotional conflicts feel authentic rather than manufactured. She was too self-deprecating for me and mentioned/thought about her ex way too much. I get it, it was all the trauma she endured, but it was difficult to read.

What stood out most was the emphasis on support without control, love that encourages independence rather than replacing it. Overall, this was an emotional, thoughtful romance that balanced heartbreak and hope beautifully.

While it didn’t fully work for me, it’s a good choice for readers who enjoy heartfelt romances focused on growth and recovery.

*Thank you for the author for the ARC!*

Georgie has literally crashed herself into a fake marriage. She was discarded by her ex after finding out she was pregnant which left her heartbroken and struggling trying to survive off of what she had. she’s worked stayed in motel rooms and now sleeping in her car. She crashes into a stranger after her water breaks and her new life starts.
James has no clue what to do with the pregnant women that just fainted in her arms. After finding out some things about her he finds it easy to act like her husband and the babies father. He offers her a helping hand and she reluctantly takes it she’s a mother now and has to do what she can for him. Being in closed proximity makes James see a light in her that he has never seen in anyone else, he’s drawn to not only baby Weston but his mother aswell he feels things he thought would forever be stuffed down and for once he wants to try and see what this could lead to, but Georgie’s fear of her past may cause her to build a wall around herself to keep him out.

I loved this story, the fake marriage started so well in the beginning. Loved how the mmc didn’t hesitate to help someone who actually needed it and in the end it was what he needed. A man that had everything already or thought he had it all until they came crashing into his life

Slow Burn, Fab Characters, Use of Toys 4.25*
Georgie Davies has low self-esteem due to her ex-boyfriend’s emotional and mental abuse. Now homeless and heavily pregnant, she crashes her van into the back of famous drummer James Harper, when she goes into premature labour. But what should have been a disaster, turns out to be a blessing in disguise when James’s nurturing nature comes to the fore. Not that his knee jerk reaction to not correct a misunderstanding doesn’t lead to a series of bigger and bigger lies and a fake relationship.
I loved the way James supported Georgie and her baby, how caring he was and how he allowed her to be herself. We gradually see Georgie rebuilding her confidence and self-esteem without being rushed. Her journey to trust James seemed natural, as did their progression to a physical relationship (though personally I could have done without the toys).
With regard to the epilogue, surely in order to be legal the marriage would have to be registered and therefore be a matter of public record that any journalist could in future discover? This still seemed like it was something that could blow up later.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was so cute. It really brought me back to my 1st pregnancy and postpartum. This book made me giddy and swoony. James reminded me so much of my husband, that it wasn’t hard to immerse myself in the book.

First of all, James is the sweetest MMC ever. He immediately feels protective over Georgie when he finds out she’s pregnant. So much so that he pretends to be her husband and father to her child to protect them. I am ALWAYS a fan of the protector type.

Georgie has BEEN THROUGH IT. Poor thing has been on her own and had to learn the hard way how to survive. She is resilient and strong, but closed off to protect herself. I am all for an independent woman, but I definitely have a soft spot for the damsel in distress.

The commentary around Georgie and her size was heartbreaking. It was hard to read as someone who has been through it. But it was so accurate to how bigger people are treated. It made me happy to see James stand up to Josh when he made that comment about Georgie. And the way Georgie was described positively!

One thing I didn’t vibe with was the use of current slang (specifically “cooked”). I’m in my 30s, so I’m familiar with it. But anyone who doesn’t know a Gen Z person, will be confused. It really ages the piece and prevents it from being timeless.

This story is all about believing in yourself and learning that it is okay to trust others.
Georgie never imagined she would find herself pregnant and completely alone, but that does not last long. In an unexpected turn of events, she ends up in the arms of James Harper, the tamous drummer of the Outlaws. Wher Georgie goes into labor, James steps in as the support she so desperately needs, even if that means becoming her fake husband.
James is ready to turn his life around. In doing so, he opens both his heart and his home to Georgie and her son. But Georgie's walls are high. Scarred by past relationships, she is terrified of accepting the kind of love James is offering. Through persistence and truly living by the idea that actions speak louder than words, James slowly breaks down her defenses and shows her that she can love again without her heart being broken.
What I loved most about Georgie is her strength. Even when life dealt her some rough cards, she stayed focused on providing for her son and was determined to be a better mother than the one she had.
If you love not-his-baby, fake marriage, age gap, and found family, make sure Set the Record Straight is on your TBR

Who wouldn’t fall hopelessly, irrevocably in love with a knight in shining armor who appears right when your world is crumbling…who steps in, steady and sure, and refuses to leave your side?

James is the ultimate book boyfriend, the kind that lives in every romantic fantasy. Thoughtful. Infinitely patient. Fiercely loving. And the way he shows up, quietly, consistently, for both Georgie and Weston, surrounding them with unwavering devotion and safety? Ugh. My hopeless romantic heart never stood a chance.

I completely related to Georgie’s struggle with low self esteem. Being gaslit, stripped down by cruel words, and exposed at your most vulnerable by someone you trusted is soul shattering and that kind of betrayal is hard to heal from. It was no wonder she struggled with trust issues and walls sky high. I loved that James doesn’t just use words but shows her through every gentle action, (and spicy actions 😉) just how beautiful, cherished, and extraordinary special and strong she truly is.

That repeated chorus he uses? I literally cried every time. Watching Georgie slowly begin to believe her worth? LOVED IT!!! 💖

Thank you Erin for the advanced copy to read.

This book is absolutely beautiful from start to finish. It has close proximity, accidental daddy, a plus-size FMC, found family, a drummer MMC, fake marriage, and so much more.

The story follows Georgie and James, and the way they meet is both chaotic and hilarious. Georgie crashes into James’s car while rushing to the hospital in labor, and the EMTs assume they’re husband and wife. James goes along with it, follows her to the hospital, and stays until she gives birth.

James is a total green flag. The way he becomes a safe space for Georgie without expecting anything in return was so heartwarming to read. He shows up for her consistently and loves her wholeheartedly.

Georgie has a crush on James but holds herself back because of what her ex did to her, and honestly, that fear was written in such a realistic and relatable way. Her hesitation made complete sense.

The found family aspect of this book was beautifully done. James’s bandmates supporting him and embracing Georgie added so much warmth to the story without overshadowing the main characters.

This is a 4.5-star read for me, and I highly recommend it.

“What happens when playing pretend feels dangerously real?”

First off I’d like to thank the author for allowing me the opportunity to be an early reader. I know these books are your babies so I truly appreciate the opportunity. 🤍

College dropout, single, pregnant, jumping from motel to motel and wishing for a miracle when Georgie quite literally crashes into James’ life. 😬 then the hospital assumes James is the husband and father and the lie just kinda takes off. I really relate to Georgie in a sense so it was really refreshing to read to a story that hit kinda close to home. And the way James just steps up and takes care of her and Westie Bestie 🥹 be still my heart. Oh and we can’t forget about the spice. 🥵 lawd, the spice! If you loved Hayes’ and Annabelle’s story in Every Now and Then, you’re going to love Set the Record Straight just as much. And Gertie had me dying at the end. Literally laughing out loud.

First 5 ⭐️ read of the year!

After ARC reading (and LOVING) "Every Now and Then" (book 1 in the Outlaw series), I knew I had to keep reading the series!

Set the Record Straight tells the story of the drummer of the Outlaw band, James and Georgie, a pregnant woman down on her luck. Their worlds collide (literally) and thus follows a love story for the movies.

When I tell you that James is a top tier book boyfriend, I fricking mean it! Here's a little taste of what I mean- “Then don’t doubt me when I tell you that you’re beautiful. I know beauty when I see it.” His gaze traces over me, deliberate and unhurried. “And right now, I’m looking at a fucking masterpiece.”
Georgie is a woman with a history that others can relate to and I love how real that is in this book. All the emotions were felt.
AND THE SPICE WAS SPICING, BABY! 💦🫠

Tropes- rockstar romance, age gap, fake marriage, close proximity, not his baby, found family

Thank you Erin for blessing me with this ARC as well 🖤 I can't wait for book 3!

I love, love, love it! 😍 such a beautiful story and this one hits home as my husband and I met because of a car accident 🙈 I’m in love with this series, oh and the spiciness 🌶️ 😮‍💨 definitely recommend 🤩 thank you for the e-ARC @authorerinolivier

Blurb:

Georgie
One boyfriend. Two pink lines. Three little words.
It's not mine.
And then four more words that shattered everything I thought we had.
Get rid of it.
When I didn't get rid of the baby, the boyfriend got rid of me. Now I'm on my own, trying to rebuild a life I never expected to have and failing miserably.

James
One lie. Two strangers. Three little words.
It's a boy.
Except... the baby's not mine. I only met his mom six hours ago, but when Georgie went into labor, one misunderstanding spun a tangled web of lies I can't unravel.
Now I'm stuck playing the role of happy husband and devoted dad.
But what happens when playing pretend begins to feel dangerously real?
Do I set the record straight... or let it play?

✨ ARC Review

I’m currently writing this review with a book hangover and I want to go back and reread everything I just finished. I’d like to say my love for Georgie & James was unexpected, but if I’m being honest, I’ve been salivating over them since Erin started promoting the book and I don’t want to ever lose this feeling.

Georgie is your wholesome American girl who finds herself showering in Walmart bathrooms, homeless and pregnant, while job searching. James is your Country music heartthrob drummer who chooses to stay single with one night stands due to abandonment issues he never dealt with after his Mother left.

A fateful accident brings these 2 together to while they pretend they’re a family when *huge shock* they find the family and love they’ve both only ever wanted. When Georgie’s past comes knocking, James won’t let anyone, even his stubborn brother, think they can ruin her or baby Weston’s life they’ve built.

Where do I begin? Set The Record Straight was my first read of Erin Olivier’s and the second book in the Outlaw Series. It is an interconnected standalone forced proximity, fake marriage, curvy FMC, not his baby, age gap romance, that will keep you turning the page. I absolutely adored James and Georgie, and I think you will, too.

However, do not let this beautiful cover deceive you, the spice is spicy and some of the topics mentioned inside its pages are heavy. So, you have a choice to make enter the story blind or glance over that shopping list. The choice is yours to make.

James is like a brownie all rough around the edges but warm a gooey on the inside. The way he supported and cared for Georgie and Weston made my heart happy. His patience and gentle hand gave Georgie the ability to heal and let go of the chains of her past.

The character growth that Georgie went through is evident in the writing and allowed me to connect with her character on an emotional level. The chemistry she has with James seems authentic. So, if you’re in the mood for a slow burn with the added bonus of a drummer MMC with magic hands, I highly recommend Set The Record Straight.

James! Phew🥵🫠 This man is perfection. All green flags in a backwards hat!

Their meet cute was anything but typical, and it made the story very engaging and hard to put down from the first few chapters. Georgie has a deeply traumatic past, and the way James shows up for both her and Weston is genuinely beautiful. The “not his baby” trope was written so well and with so much heart. James and Georgie are incredibly sweet together, and watching James help heal so many of Georgie’s broken parts was emotional and helped heal parts of me!

Every woman deserves to be loved the way James loves Georgie!

Read this if you love fake dating/marriage, not his baby, a curvy FMC, found family/band family vibes, a slow burn that is pretty spicy when it finally hits, healing, and learning to love yourself exactly as you are. The writing is strong and heartfelt, with plenty of funny moments woven in that balance the heavier themes perfectly.

4.5 rounded up

This was so good! I absolutely inhaled it and couldn't put it down! I loved the fake marriage and watching the emotions change from "this is something convenient and useful" to "oh, hey, I'm actually in love!" and seeing how Georgie's view of herself changed with how James treated her. I'm always here for man down bad, and a man who wants to take care of someone - and James fit that bill!

This is the second book in the series of interconnected stand-alones, and while some moments might make more sense with details from book 01, you absolutely won't be lost or confused if you jump in with book 02 instead. (Did I mean to read book 01 first, yes, yes I did. Did I run out of time and get distracted by other books? Maybe) So now I need to go and check out book one and see what I missed, and then impatiently wait for the rest of the band to get a book of their own!

I was given the E-Arc from the author in exchange for an honest review. I rated this story 4.25 stars! Reading this for a day and a half I was hooked from the moment they first interacted with each other! I have to say this was as good as the first book of the Outlaw Series. I loved Georgie and James from the get go and the way their love began to blossom in ways that I never thought would see coming, from the smut to the banter to the quick witted aftermath and to their happily ever after! I really enjoyed reading about Georgie, James and Weston. I have a more detailed review on my instagram so go ahead and check out miariinfini to see my review there!

Rating: 4.25 out of 5/4 out of 5 stars (storygraph & goodreads)
