In this city, control is currency and consent is the only way to spend it.
Melissa Fiere believed she buried her husband two years ago. Then a lawyer’s letter arrives and tears that truth apart.
Eric wasn’t just Eric.
He was Roman Fiere, heir to a powerful East Coast dynasty and the architect of an underground system built on influence, surveillance, and carefully negotiated power.
Drawn into the network Roman created, Melissa discovers a world where every interaction is governed by three
Stop. Slow. Go.
Signals designed to protect choice in a system that records everything.
But when a ghost from Roman’s past resurfaces and the network begins to fracture, Melissa realizes the rules may have been designed for control rather than safety. The deeper she digs, the clearer it becomes that someone has been watching the system and learning from it.
Now the line between protection and manipulation is collapsing.
And Melissa must decide whether the man who built the system is trying to dismantle it or rebuild it with her inside.
Control Requires Consent is a dark psychological techno-thriller about power, trust, and the dangerous illusion of control.
Perfect for readers of Blake Crouch, Daniel Suarez, and speculative techno-thrillers where technology learns faster than the people who built it.
Includes a preview of Book Two in The Consent Protocol series.
This was one of those books I wasn’t really sure what was gonna happen on my end but I devoured ( okay kinda a lie bc I love a mafia but I still was worried bc mafia can be repetitive but this was not!! ). It’s such a quick read but an intense start to the trilogy. I loved that there are so many patterns and meanings that are made throughout the book but it’s just vague enough to have you questioning which way things could lead. The tension, the vibes, the dramaaaaa. We love a masked man
God I love the thriller aspect to a mafia romance. Needing the next book asap.
However Melissa girl I support woman’s rights and woman’s wrongs so…you can be more angry I will respect it.
