Cloudhawk had survived his perilous journey through the wastelands and made it to Skycloud City, the jewel of the sacred Elysian lands, and it lived up to their reputation - protected by a great blessed wall, Skycloud had everything the wastelands lacked. Guarded by demonhunters and the Temple of the Cloud God, Skycloud was filled with all sorts of marvels. And yet... And yet, in their own way, the Elysian lands were every bit as dangerous as the desolate wastes from whence Cloudhawk came. The brighter the light, the darker the shadows... and the Elysian lands cast a very bright light indeed. Cloudhawk was in the land of his dreams, but dreams have a strange way of becoming nightmares for the unprepared. His arrival threatened to unearth secrets which the powers of Skycloud would strongly prefer remain buried. Secrets which were worth far more than the life of a single, solitary wastelander... Even one who dreamed of becoming an Elysian.
Cloud hawk is believable, his trials feel organic. I am very hard to please but this is the best story I've read in years. I detest cookie cutter good guys, in real life they're the biggest monsters. This is the first translated Chinese work I have read, and this translator is excellent. All together it is a thoroughly satisfying read.
Awesome story so far. The world is incredibly vast. The overall feel is still a Chinese epic cultivation novel, but with a western perspective. Lots of fun to read, and no super powered protagonist like most.
