CIA officer Samantha Jordan is thrust into a deadly race against time when her asset is kidnapped—threatening to expose covert operations and her true identity. As the clock ticks down, Samantha is forced to partner with the enigmatic Graham Bryant, a man whose skills are undeniable but whose trustworthiness remains uncertain.
Against the shadowed streets of Paris, Samantha follows a trail of buried secrets and dangerous alliances, knowing every decision could tip the balance between disaster and survival. With a global crisis looming and innocent lives at stake, failure isn’t an option—but faith may be the only thing strong enough to steady her when everything else begins to unravel.
Packed with high-stakes espionage, relentless suspense, and a quiet current of faith under fire, The Parisian Assignment is a fast-paced Christian international thriller from USA Today bestselling author Lisa Harris.
I got this on a whim due to being a big fan of spy stories. I wasn't sure what to think but it ended up being one of my favorite new books I've read for some months. It's a fast read, both because it's a relatively short book and because it's pretty fast-paced. I expected romance to be more of a focus, as these types of books usually are, but it's more about the espionage and the plot. It's a more down-to-Earth style of story than a Mission Impossible kind of movie plot. The Christian themes aren't very heavy-handed and could almost come across as just being aspects of Samantha's characterization.
CIA officer Samantha Jordan and her new partner, Graham Bryant, must rescue a kidnapped asset in Paris and stop an international arms deal.
The Parisian Assignment is the first book in the new Samantha Jordan Thriller series by Lisa Harris. This inspirational suspense story is fast-paced, taking place over just a couple of days, so there is very little personal interaction between Samantha and Graham yet. Hopefully, there will be more in the next one. The author leaves the reader eager for the second part with a new assignment and some questions left unanswered.
I received a free Kindle copy of Secrets Beneath The Waves, of which this book was a part.
This book is different in a lot of ways from other books I’ve read from Harris, but I really liked the layers slowly being pulled back and then the work to figure out if the new info is real.
You could feel the pulses of the main characters and then wonder if they can be trusted.
Page turning spy thriller novella by one of my favorite Christian suspense writers. No romance... but possibly in the future.
I wish it was more fleshed out, but the bare bones story is still intriguing. Minimal description of characters and places. Would love more backstory on love interests.
Also published in recent anthology Secrets Beneath the Waves.
