Simple, gentle easy reader for beginners tells about Sid the snake and his experience growing up. It's nice to see snakes as heroes/appealing characters for a change.

This was a little different than most Level 1 books we've read. First, it's divided into chapters. There are questions at the end of each chapter about comprehension and imagining yourself in a similar situation to the characters. This was a little beyond my 4 yr old, but we did have some fun with it.

This is an enjoyable book about a snake who is growing and changing. It is an easy reading book. Although it is a picture book, it is divided in chapters. At the end of each chapter, it has reading comprehension questions which was nice to have to encourage a discussion about the story with my son.

My kid liked this one because: 1) it was about a snake and 2) it had questions at the end of each chapter, which turned the attention back to him. Fun read, but VERY easy ...

Some times reading these beginning readers with Caroline feels like torture. I can appreciate one that is clever and teaches something at the same time.
