Wild Little Omega: Romantasy Meets Dark Omegaverse

Rate this book
She came to slit his throat. He's been waiting centuries for someone who'd try.

For three hundred years, the Beast King has slaughtered every omega sent to break his curse. Forty-seven women chained to his altar. Forty-seven names carved into stone. No one survives the claiming.

When Kess's village demands a forty-eighth tribute, she volunteers—not as sacrifice, but as assassin. She's the wrong kind of feral instincts, predator teeth, a scent like rage instead of surrender. She's hidden a knife in her hair. And she fully intends to die on that altar, as long as she takes the monster with her.

What she never expected was for him to beg her to run.

What she never expected was for her blade across his throat to make him smile.

What she never expected was to survive.

Now Kess is mated to the beast she swore to destroy—bound by a bond that makes her body crave the alpha her mind still wants dead. He swears he's not the monster she thinks he is.

She still has a knife.

Forty-seven omegas died on that altar.

The forty-eighth is nothing like them.

A standalone dark omegaverse fantasy romance with explicit adult content. Contains dubious consent, primal heat/rut, knotting, enemies-to-lovers, and a morally gray hero who will do terrible things to protect his mate.

Needs editing

This has so much repetition of not just words but whole paragraphs exactly the same. Like it was copied and pasted. Quite a few inconsistencies where the character(s) would already know information, but then in the next few pages, it was being told as if they didn't already know. Or sometimes information was given in two different ways, almost as if the author wrote it one way then another and was going to choose which suited the story better, but left both versions in the book instead of choosing one. I don't think I will read anything else by this author. The story has potential for sure, just over all very confusing. I don't even know what the actual curse was.

I think we got the draft.
Such a wasted potential.
The repetition of words and information from chapter to chapter was rather unpleasant.
The premise is actually nice and engaging but the delivery ruined it.

She comes to kill the Beast King. What she finds is a bond that won't break, a curse that won't let go, and a love that might ruin them both.

For three hundred years, the cursed alpha king has slaughtered every omega sent to his altar. Forty-seven women. Forty-seven graves. Kess volunteers as the forty-eighth, but she isn’t there to kneel. She’s there to end him. What she doesn’t expect is the way he begs her to run or the bond that snaps into place the moment her blade touches skin.

Kess is the wrong kind of omega, wild and unbroken, built to fight instead of surrender. Rhystan is a dragon shifter haunted by everything he’s done and terrified of what he might still become. What forms between them isn’t safe or easy. It’s heat and violence, but also something neither of them knows how to stop wanting.

As secrets unravel and choices tighten around them, survival stops being enough. Kess faces an ancient curse, a dangerous future, and a bond that won't let go. She’ll have to decide what she's willing to sacrifice, and what kind of love is worth everything.

Kess shifts from assassin to protector, reclaiming power on her own terms. Rhystan moves from ruthless king to devoted mate, letting love and vulnerability reshape him. What starts as instinct turns into trust, then burns into something deep, raw, and real.

A dark, steamy, enemies to lovers omegaverse romantasy featuring a cursed dragon shifter, a feral omega assassin, forced proximity, fated mates, and a bond forged through blood and survival. It explores trauma, power, autonomy, identity, sacrifice, healing, transformation, and love. It’s about surviving what was meant to break you, reclaiming what was stolen, and choosing a love that remakes everything it touches.

The Elevator Pitch: A feral omega volunteers as a sacrifice but arrives with a hidden blade and a plan to kill the cursed king. Instead of death, their clash ignites a violent bond, unraveling centuries of blood, betrayal, and divine punishment. Dark, intense, and emotionally charged, this omegaverse fantasy delivers primal heat, high stakes, and a love story carved out of survival.

Interesting plot where the Omega becomes the driving force of breaking a 300-year old curse and the Alpha is just along for the ride. I really like their interaction, the secrets that were spilled and the journey in finding the cure to said curse.

The only thing I didn't find enjoyable was the constant reoccurring sentences that kept repeating themselves very often. There seemed to be different versions all jumbled up in several chapters.

*Spoilers*

For example, Kess telling Rhystan she's pregnant with twins in one sentence and him confirming with a "I know," to this exact same scene reoccurring a few more pages later and her once again letting him know she's pregnant with twins and him acting surprised. So, which version is the correct one? it happened continuously throughout the book which took away the enjoyment I was starting to feel.

I liked it for the first 50% or so. The story was interesting and I liked the characters. But then it sort of fell off the rails. And I couldn't follow what was going on. It could be enjoyable with others though so I would still give it a looksee if you like unusual omegaverse romantasies.

The world-building became a bit confusing and inconsistent and the timelines started to fall apart. There was also some issues with the overall story telling. Things were often repeated. Not for emphasis but as if it was moved and rewritten but not cleaned up. The same with some of the viewpoint switches. They are very confusing. They go back days (maybe) and then don't line up. Then in the other pov the timeline pops back again. I don't know how to explain it. It was so confusing. I did finish the book but barely. And I was very disappointed with their callousness at the end.

I love this story and the twist! I think it is brilliant that the Omega is the true predator. Not only is it a great story, but it is also such an entertaining read.
I think Kess is great. Not once does she shy away from anything and she is willing to do absolutely everything to get what she needs. Rhystan is the more quieter character, except when Kess’s safety is involved. Both are so good together. Everything has meaning and if they would just put their differences aside, they would see that. However, if that happened I would not have read this peach of a story.
I would love for the author to write more stories in this world as I feel there is so much more that could be discovered.

Quite the read.

Heartbreaking, a dragonlord who has seen 47 lives taken by his beast, which is looking for a mate, for love, for family. But cursed as he is, driven by rage for power, he unwantingly slays each omega.

Until her, until Kess. Wild at heart, taking the place of a young girl which will be the next omega to be presented to the dragonlord. She survives the ritual offering and everything the beast brings.

Whirlwind of emotions, steam-plus and so much sympathy for a beast-king...

A dark Omega romance. Kess (FMC) is pretty much an outcast within her village where the majority of the folks there are scared of her. So when they are looking for an Omega to be their sacrifice to The Beast King - Rhystan, Kess steps in for the chosen one. Trying to get a chance to kill him for the 37 Omegas that had died before her including her aunt. What she finds is that Rhystan is not what she expected. A curse, an unexpected connection and a need to work together all made for a great twistingly brilliant read.

'She came to slit his throat. He's been waiting centuries for someone who'd try.'

The plot was intriguing and intense and well paced. World building was excellent and impressive. The characters drove the storyline and they were very compelling and complex and complicated and perfect together. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

These characters were quite intriguing, especially her character who was thrown into the action immediately. I was intrigued by her attitude and the author furthered that emotion by putting her in a situation that was compelling and quite fascinating as it played out. A well written book with great characters building that I enjoyed reading.

There are so many errors that need to be edited in this. One example being: the mc donated her grandmother’s books after she passed and magically the grandmother visited the library the mc donated them to and took a page from a book.

Or it’s ai written.

Disappointing.

I have a difficult time believing that this book was not written by AI. The writing itself led me to believe that. The plot errs and the repetitiveness was off the charts.

this could have been good, but there are so many plot holes
I even feel like this was written by ai because they once said her aunt was blonde, in the next scene BAM she is suddenly brunette
Also I can't like this book knowing the MMC has slept with FMC's aunt - oh, and there's even a scene where he says he thought and hoped she(the aunt) was his mate
