Rosie has hit rock bottom. She’s living with her ex and her ex’s new husband after the loss of her mother. Medical bills took her entire inheritance and then some. She’s drowning in debt, too qualified for entry-level jobs, not experienced enough for professional positions, and barely making it slinging coffee at a local brewhouse. When it’s announced that the newly discovered aliens on Planet WLN269 are looking for wives, mates, and companions and are willing to pay for their emigration to the remote planet, Rosie sees it as a way out of her current situation and a chance to start over.
Rexus isn’t looking for love. Just someone to help take the edge off his ruts. There was no way he could have planned for someone like Rosie when he’d signed up for the Human-Extraterrestrial Liaison Program. He’s determined to keep feelings between the sheets, but the human is getting under his skin.Planet WLN269 Needs Women is a new shared world series that imagines what it would be like if human woman decided to leave behind one male loneliness epidemic to solve another on a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy. All stories feature low-stakes alien-human romance stories, lots of steam, and a guaranteed Happily Ever After.
A very quick, enjoyable, and funny story that’s easy to read! When you’re in a reading slump, this one is ideal, and I’m very excited to discover more from this intertwined series in the future.
Thank you to the author and BookSirens for providing me with a copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Rosie and Rexus were bound and determined to be friends with benefits through the WLN269 program instead of romantic partners. She was drowning in medical debt and he was isolated and having increasing difficulty with his partnerless ruts. They sucked at communicating what they wanted and needed outside of the bedroom for most of the book, but luckily got their heads out of their asses enough to talk it out. I would have loved more of their growth as a couple on page, but the epilogue wrapped it up pretty well.
Spice: 5/5
Triggers: parent death from cancer (past), unemployment, medical debt, mentions of mass death, grief, mentions of past divorce (good terms)
Anyone reading my reviews knows I LOVE Sabrina's books, but this might be my favorite book in the WLN series for real!!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the story 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ for the spice Rexus is living on planet WLN269 where there are 50,000 men living and only 1,000 women. Rosie is living on Earth and has debts to pay and living with her ex and her new boo. Rosie signs up for H.E.L.P. and matches with Rex where they both agree to a sex only, but no attachment or commitment deal, so she heads out to meet him. Once on WLN269, there is immediate and a lot of sex AAANNNNDDDD Rex has 2 🍆🍆, so you know, let your imagination run wild because basically whatever you are thinking of...YES. This story also has a lot more development of the characters and their background stories, so you did feel more invested in the characters and their endings which made the story all the more enjoyable!
Back on my favorite planet with two new characters! We have Roxie, human woman living with her ex while she tries to recover emotionally and financially from the heartbreaking illness and death of her mother. And we have Rexus, committed to not having a relationship and only looking for someone to help him through his ruts. There’s spice, emotional growth and - most importantly - Pickles, the screaming earth cat. Also, Rexus is doubly blessed with not one but TWO large cocks. So are we.
This was fun and fast. The spice starts as soon as Roxie makes it to her new pink domicile, but the emotions are slower to burn. Roxie is such a relatable character for me. She wants to reset her life, find inspiration, and get railed. I want to see more of Rexus introducing her to the village and outer world. And I want to see the Adventures of Pickles, who turns out to be an amazing animal companion.
“Much Ado about Rutting” by Sabrina Cross is a very spicy addition to the shared universe ‘Planet WLN269’ series. Rosie is seeking a fresh start and desperately needed funds. Rexus is looking for a no-strings-attached rut assistant. Rexus does his best to provide Rosie with everything a human could need on Planet WLN269: a pink bedroom, a screaming earth cat (possum), and plenty of isolation. Rexus and Rosie quickly connect and struggle with their feelings. Everything is perfect and super spicy physically, but they have trouble communicating, which leads to some fun, light angst. Once they connect on all levels, this alien sci-fi offers a swoon-worthy romance.
Honestly Rosie and Rexus had a plan, she was coming to Planet WLN269 to help with his ruts, with no romantic entanglements. But when Rexus sees her for the first time he feels an instant pull and this human instantly gets under his skin. During Rexus' first rut he loses himself and once he comes back to it he realizes he may have hurt Rosie and wants to make everything better.
Rexus just needed time to realize even though he's previously lost someone he cared about it is okay to care about another. Rosie is patient, and handles everything about him perfectly. It's just a matter of letting her in.
"Who is this God? He is not inside you, I am. If you're going to scream anoyone's name while I'm f**king you it's going to be mine."
I mean come on, he's got that possessive vibe instantly. Great quick read. I wish there had been more, but I'm glad to have spent some time with them. Also how about having a possum for a pet??
Well well well, this was a delicious 🌶️read. More chapters than then other books in this short stories series, but this last one was a great closure! When you planned it all out and just intend to help with rutting, but both end up falling for each other eventually. The HEA after their chemistry together is the cherry on the top for this couple.
Rosie and Rexus are such hornballs that I couldn’t help but love them! This is high heat with a rut and double dongs but there’s also sweetness and a bonus “earth cat”.
**I received an eARC as part of the ARC team for Planet WLN269 but am voluntarily leaving an honest review. **
Rosie ends up accepting the request on H.E.L.P (Human-Extraterrestrial Liaison Program) to escape her current life on Earth. What choice does she have? She doesn't know how to deal with her ex and piling financial issues. Hence, assisting an alien with his rutting cycle sounds fine to her since he only wants something casual anyway, and in return, she gets a fresh start on his planet according to the benefits package. Perfect! Despite her bestie, Betty, telling her to think before making a huge decision (aka mistake), she goes ahead with it. He doesn't want anything serious or children, so there's nothing to worry about, right? But what happens when feelings start festering, creeping up to the surface for the both of them? Will they admit them?
This is such a fun, short, and spicy read! I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but I do love this one. It's so my type of book! There's inner conflict and tension, which you can feel sizzling from the words you read on. It's delicious. Lots of heat and spice, humour and romance, mention of grief and loss, loveable characters, and a smooth read. It doesn't drag for me, and the delivery of the written piece really does grab my attention from the beginning to the end. It's light-hearted and playful, and the plot compliments the spice/smut quite well.
Now, Rexus, our MMC, is HAWT as HELL and also quite sweet. I like the awkward side of him: it's so endearing that I just want to pat him on his head! And so cute how he wants to please Rosie. The gradual change from his reserved demeanour to how open and caring he becomes towards her is so sweet. But when he's in his rut/heat-mode... oh, my. The man is a beast with a possessive aura. Something else. Let me just grab my fan. I live for their chemistry! They do have some romantic moments too, which I wish there were more of, but it's a short read, so, oh, well. Their communication skills are amazing, by the way, much appreciated. And our FMC Rosie is sassy, fun, and patient with him. She knows how to approach sensitive discussions and moments, especially something from his past.
If you like everything of the above that will give you the cosy, warm, tingly feels of a lovely Alien romance, then this one is for you! The expected release is said to be on the 13th of February, 2026. TBR right now, you won't regret it.
This one felt different from the others in the series for me — more emotionally intense and a little uncomfortable in places. Overall, it was an interesting and well-written read that left me with complicated feelings.
I really liked the starting premise: Rexus is clear that he only wants someone to help him through his ruts, no romance involved, and Rosie agrees — partly for the fun, partly because the financial compensation would help her pay off medical debts after her mother’s death. It’s a very transactional beginning that slowly, inevitably shifts.
The creeping feelings and classic miscommunication worked well here. Both characters believe the other only wants something physical, and watching them emotionally circle each other while denying their deeper needs created strong tension.
It’s important to note that the author flags potential dubious consent elements in the trigger warnings. While I was mildly okay with it in context, this won’t work for everyone, and readers should absolutely check the content warnings before diving in. Much Ado About Rutting worked for me in a complicated way — I realised I was more attached to the characters than I expected, and feeling their confusion and vulnerability actually made me uncomfortable at times. But that emotional response speaks to how well developed they are, especially in novella form.
This is for readers who enjoy emotionally messy sci-fi romance, transactional-to-real-feelings dynamics, and stories that push into slightly uncomfortable territory — but definitely check the trigger warnings first.
I did not think when I decided to review this book that it was going to be as great as it was. But let me tell you something this author was like think what you want but I'm going to blow your mind as soon as you read this. That's exactly what they did because let me tell you I was hooked from the very first chapter I read this book very quickly and was jumping at the bits to get to the end. If you love aliens you love funny you love everything about the whole genre this is for you. Because this author went above and beyond and they did an absolutely an amazing job. This book was absolutely amazing they're not enough nice things you can say about it like so much so I'm going to buy the series in paperback like that's how much I loved it. let me tell you something this author was like think what you want but I'm going to blow your mind as soon as you read this. I need more.
I really don't know what else to say 😅I need more of this world, more of other aliens like Rexus, more fiesty humans like Rosie, and just… more! I was a little confused about the premise… did Betty transition or was Rosie married to Craig? I know Rosie herself says she was married to Betty, but that's still a little vague for me.
Rexus, oh he was so sweet! He had this awkward energy of trying to please Rosie, but when his rut came, he was an animal and I loved the heat! Rexus is the definition of dirty talk, and I loved seeing his development from being blunt and short-spoken to improving his aftercare with Rosie.
I did feel like I wanted there to be at least one or two more 'romantic' moments between Rosie and Rexus, just to cement their mutual attraction that extended beyond physical intimacy, but overall, I enjoyed it!
I received an ARC of Much Ado About Rutting by Sabrina Cross, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I loved this story. The spice was great. Exploring interspecies intimacy is always a good time, but I also really enjoyed the emotional journey of both main characters.
I especially loved the respect and kindness Rexus shows throughout the book, and how Rosie is willing to take a chance, stay open, and truly try to understand him. Their relationship felt grounded in mutual care, and I appreciated how both characters experienced personal growth. Watching them realise that clear, honest communication is key to making things work was really satisfying.
Given that this is a shorter read, I appreciated how the story acknowledged heavier topics like grief and loss. While these themes were not explored in great detail, it was clear they had shaped the characters, and that impact was handled delicately.
I was genuinely smiling by the time I reached the happy ending, though I would have loved just one more chapter showing how the happy couple had settled into their life together. The ongoing “cat” theme woven into this alien world was such a sweet and charming touch.
This was a spicy, tender, and emotionally satisfying read, and I really enjoyed my time with it.
Coming across this book, I wasn't expecting much. Amid high-stakes fantasy books, a girlie needs a little palette cleanser or two. But holy cow, this was good. It makes no attempt to hide what it is—just pure alien smut. It's very much a what you see is what you get, except I did not expect it to go as deep into feelings and the emotional arcs both main characters undergo.
Plot-wise, it's far from complicated in an unsuspectingly satisfying way. Given the length of this novella, I appreciated how the story acknowledged and handed heavier topics like loss of a parent/loved one. While it was not explored in great detail, it was clear grief had shaped the characters, and that impact was handled delicately.
I finished this book in one sitting, as it's short, sweet, spicy and fast-paced. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and that serves it well. There is some plot, but realistically, the story mainly exists to support the smut, not the other way around, although I would've appreciated more purely romantic scenes between Rosie and Rexus just to establish their chemistry.
I'd like to thank BookSirens and the author for providing me with an eARC of this book, I'm certainly looking forward to reading more of this series of interconnected standalones.

Much Ado About Rutting makes no attempt to hide what it is, and that honesty works in its favor. This is very much a what you see is what you get kind of book. Yes, there is a plot, but let’s be real: the story mainly exists to support the smut, not the other way around. That is not a weakness, because the book clearly knows its purpose and fully commits to it.
I finished it in a few hours thanks to its fast pace, smooth writing, and refusal to take itself too seriously. It is fun, hot, and unapologetically a quick, indulgent read. Readers looking for extensive worldbuilding or deep character studies may not find what they want here, but anyone in the mood for an entertaining, spicy take on rutting themes will likely be satisfied.
The book could have been a bit longer, and spending more time with the characters might have been sweet. Still, the shorter length did not bother me this time. Instead, it helped the story maintain its energy and end at just the right moment without feeling dragged out or incomplete.
Hilarious, Spicy Alien Rom-Com with a Lot of Heart
This alien rom-com was such a fun surprise. It’s spicy, witty, and genuinely laugh-out-loud funny. The heroine won me over instantly—especially with her self-description as “a teapot, not a pretzel,” which perfectly sets the tone for the humor and body-positive vibe of the book.
The romance itself is LGBTQ-friendly, joyful, and unapologetically fun. The banter works, the chemistry is great, and the whole story leans fully into being an alien rom-com without taking itself too seriously—which is exactly what makes it work so well.
The only thing that slightly pulled me out of the story was the intergalactic exchange aspect. The science behind it is… let’s say very generous. Given what we can currently detect only large planets in the Milky Way, it felt a bit hand-wavy. That said, this is clearly not a book meant to be read for scientific accuracy.
If you’re looking for a hilarious, spicy, feel-good alien romance with great representation and lots of charm, this one absolutely delivers. I had a blast reading it.

men to 1,000 women Planet WLN269 are looking for women. The women of Earth are willing to leave for an adventure to another planet because the men of Earth have been disappointing so far ✨
💫 Rosie is looking for a fresh start, she signs up to the H.E.L.P app and matches with Rexus. There’s nothing keeping her on Earth so she accepts Rexus offer to come to village 22.
💫She’s looking for a no strings attached relationship and nothing more and all Rexus is looking is for someone to help with his ruts and not a mate. What Rexus wasn’t expecting was to fall for her so soon, her presence is testing his will.
💫When he goes in to rut, he doesn’t have much control, he has Rosie’s seeing stars and screaming his name. The need to be inside her is all consuming. What started out a s physical relationship between them ended up being much more and all Rexus needs to do now is to convince Rosie to stay with him. 💕
The chemistry between Rosie & Rexus 🥵 the high heat rutting scenes 🔥but I think at the heart of it all is willing to take a risk and letting someone in to your life and never letting them go.

I would like to start by thanking Sabrina Cross and the Planet WLN269 Arc team for allowing me the chance to read this ARC. All of the thoughts and opinions shared are my own!
Let me start by saying this was the spiciest Planet WLN269 story that I have read so far, and oh boy it was good. There is plot, kind of... but lets be brutally honest, the smut was the star of the show and it was a phenomenal star. If you want a fun and easy read, that doesn't take its self seriously and doesn't have any massive thought provoking moments- then this is for you. Especially if you just want to experience alien sex without a massive commitment.
Rexus was a stoic "I need you for one thing and one thing only and that's not love" kinda guy, but he was completely awkward about it at first. However this man knows how to take someone to pound town, and what do you expect when he has two peens???? AND KNOWS HOW TO USE THEM!!!! 10/10 would abandon earth too let him rut me.
These books by Sabrina Cross in this series are so much fun to read! Poor delusional aliens thinking they won’t fall in love with these delightfully feisty curvy humans working to come to a whole new planet just for alien sex… ppsshh…
I loved that underneath his scaled green exterior and despite his blunt statements in his ad that he just wanted a rutting partner, Remus is a softie and falls for Rosie as soon as he first sees her in person. It just takes him a while to figure it out😍
Rosie is a hoot, a perpetual student (I can so relate🙄) with a high sex drive 🥰🔥😍 (get it girl!), no qualms about taking what she wants or needs… until she realizes she wants more with Rexus….
This book is sweet, super hot, fluffy, but with an underlying note of vulnerability and found family! Great for a quick smutty alien escape read!

I have to admit that the planet name: WLN269 took me embarrassingly too long to figure out. But the book was a breeze to read.
It is not completely fluff, in between hot sex, there are topics of grief and loss, and grown adults making choices for themselves. But there is also a possum that is mistaken for a cat by the alien. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
They both have fantastic sexual chemistry - initiated by Rosie, you know "for science", but they are not sure at first if they work as a couple. '
But some smart advice frop a friend and some clear communication they make it work. It's a cozy, sexy, quick read that will put a smile on your face and a spring in your step.
This was another fun and spicy addition to this multi-author series and I loved Rexus and Roxie together. Roxie has just lost her mother to cancer and is looking to reset her life. She starts off living with her ex and her new boyfriend when she applies to the mating site. Rexus doesn't want emotions, he just wants someone to help him through his ruts. Yeah, right... Of course these two are fire together but it takes some time for their emotions to join the heat between them. I'm really loving the cultural assumptions and their ideas of what a cat is. Lol! It doesn't hurt that he is 'doubly blessed' and knows how to make the most use of his assets ;P Expect to be quickly invested in these two finding a way to get their HEA. Good fun!
Cute story, quick read. Aliens are real and have a job/dating web site? Yes and Rosie has signed up. Spending three months texting and sexting her match before she is shipped out to meet up and meet his needs was summed up and I wish that we got to see more banter between the two.
Did I mention this was a quick read? I don't feel like there was enough of a story line to really get attached to either character but little tid bits made me invested for what it was. I enjoyed the story, nice palate cleanser between other reads. Probably would read more in the series.

Thank you to BookSirens and the author for a copy of this book
Rosie signs up for H.E.L.P. because her life on Earth has completely collapsed. Grief, debt, living with her ex, and zero safety net. Helping an alien through his rut sounds transactional, temporary, and like a clean reset. Rexus very much agrees. He is not looking for love, just relief, and he is extremely clear about keeping feelings out of it. Naturally, that does not last.
This is very much a smut-forward novella, and it delivers on that promise without apology. Fun, spicy, and self-aware, this is a solid WLN269 entry that prioritizes heat but still leaves room for growth and a satisfying HEA.
Taken in by the Aliens was good, but I vibed with this one a heck of a lot harder. This girl legit said I just need some money and good sex and just went off to another planet. This man Rexus: “This isn’t serious, I just need some release” but also “Let me get her a “cat”, human women love those.”
If you’re light enough to blush, don’t read this in Public, you have been warned. It’s spicy and frustrating all at once, and I had way too many emotions considering how short this story is. Sabrina’s novellas are going to be the death of my little bit of remaining sense and sanity.
You’ll have a good time reading this though, I promise.
I loved this short little alien romance by Sabrina Cross! I really enjoyed that this took on a different outlook than the other stories in this series. Rexus is just looking for someone to help him through his ruts and isn’t looking for a relationship. Rosie just needs a change of scenery and is DTF. This is a very spicy story. They literally get straight to the point as soon as she gets to Planet WLN269! This story was very good. I love Sabrina’s writing.
I definitely recommend Much Ado About Rutting by Sabrina Cross. Especially if you want a super short, and super spicy alien romance that also has a good story behind it.
This was a fun, low-angst addition to the group! I really liked the ‘creature features’ we had with our dearest, darling grumpy Rex! I also really liked how they were both clearly in the ‘NO FEELINGS ALLOWED’ camp and just OOPS! Fell in love! Hahahaha!
Can I say? It is also hella funny to see a gal ABSOLUTELY destroyed after a rut, cuz yeah, I think we are all just a bit TOO optimistic of what we could handle with our purely theoretical book boyfriends! HAHAA . The pink bedroom, chefs kiss. The cat, perfection. Fun and lighthearted!
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you!
This is my second book by Sabrina Cross from the Planet WLN269 Needs Women series. You know what though? Although Much Ado About Rutting is high heat, it’s just as endearing as Taken In By The Aliens. Rexus and Rosie are two very sweet individuals, both entering into their arrangement believing sex would be enough. *tsk tsk tsk* Silly, naïve Rexus and Rosie. I hope there’s a book three …

Rosie and Rexus was exactly what each other needed without knowing! Rosie needed to find a job and somewhere to live when she decides to start talking to Rexus who just wanted someone to help with his rut but to have no feelings. Rexus thought he knew what he was doing but quickly realised his mistake when Rosie arrives. He was so sweet when he wanted to be and boy was there alot of heat! Another Planet WLN269 book i absolutely loved! I fear this is becoming my entire personality at this point LOL
