This book is a must-get for any nature lover or Pennsylvanian! The descriptions of the trails and natural features are so vivid, they made me want to immediately go for a hike. Plus the photography is stunning and captures the diverse beauty of the state. The author’s passion for the Pennsylvania outdoors leaps off the page!
Scenic Natural Wonders of Pennsylvania is a must have while exploring the natural beauty and rugged terrain of Pennsylvania. The way the author describes each cave, rock formation, scenic overlook, natural area, and waterfall captures the essence of being there right along with her. I've been to several places, including Ricketts Glenn, Dingmans Falls, Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area, Penn's Cave, and Indian Echo Caverns, to name a few, and nodded at the trivial information highlighted about each place. There are places on my bucket list to visit, and now more added, like Ringing Rocks Park. What I really appreciated from the author is the reminder to be respectful of the land when visiting each place, the parking situation, and if there are public facilities nearby or not. Rule of thumb, it's always best to do your research before visiting, and now you have a nice travel guide that also suggestions what may be nearby to make your trip worthwhile. Get your walking on!
Some very nice photography and interest-provoking descriptions of scenic wonders in Pennsylvania, including many I haven’t been to. The index helpfully includes county names, so that readers can get a sense of which scenic vistas and waterfalls might make up a good road trip. I was disappointed not to find a single map, however, and to find that not every listing included a county indicator or location beyond “northern Pennsylvania” or the like. On the other hand, every listing here will inspire further research so that you can see these things yourself! I’m glad I heard the author on WPSU and ordered the book.
A great compilation of places to explore in Pennsylvania! I loved reading the history of the caves and caverns, and the many waterfalls covered. Extra points for Tory’s accessibility, parking, and bathroom notes!
Did not like the way the book was organized. I feel like it needed to be grouped by region. At the very least a map would have been helpful. reviewed August 2026
