Kerris Dawn is in search of a husband. There’s no shortage of eligible bachelors in the Seelie city of Rosehill, but not just any man will do. Kerris is desperate to find love. Despite the attention of the wealthy Prince Ronan and his handsome rival Trevor, Kerris finds herself drawn to the worst of the lot. Everett Gathin is not just forbidden, he’s one of the brutal Unseelie warriors from the lands of shadows and death across the divide. Kerris knows better than to pine for a man she cannot have, but something about Everett calls to her. With pressure to choose a suitable mate mounting, secrets from the past threaten Everett and the Unseelie. Kerris knows she must find a way to save him. Even if it costs her own life.
Jenny grew up in Oakland, Maryland and currently lives in County Tipperary, Ireland with her husband and two children. Her love of reading blossomed the summer after graduating high school, when she borrowed a paperback romance from her mother during the annual family beach vacation.
From that sunny day forward, she has been a lover of stories with Happily-Ever-Afters.
In a reading slump? Need a break from life? Looking for a low stakes, low stress, highly romantic and fun fantasy to vanish into? STOP RIGHT HERE.
I have been a fan of Jenny’s writing for so long and she continues to deliver iconic characters and memorable moments wrapped up in the coziest cottagecore fantasy…I didn’t know I needed this book in my life and now I can’t imagine living without it.
Kerris is a beautiful blend of wide-eyed wonder and wisdom far beyond those much older than her. I love how she simply came to town for a husband but, in addition to snagging one, left her indelible mark on the Seelie fae. Her friendship with Nia gave me all of the Anne and Diana feels and I could NOT get enough of their scenes together!!
Ever. I want to wrap his giant warrior self up in a blanket and protect his sweetness forever. The Unseelie fae were such a perfect contradiction of themselves and I loved every last (not you Leah) one of them!!! His inner monologue was absolutely precious and I’m obsessed with him!!
Willowhaven was perfection and after devouring this book in one sitting I’m ready to move in. The side characters were everything (#TeamMaddox). The ending was the happiest. Truly, I can’t say enough about this book. It’s a top tier cozy fantasy for anyone who is looking for a laugh, a warm hug, and a cuddle all in one book. Definitely, definitely snatch this one up!!
3.75⭐️ this was cute. A perfect palette cleanser/a quick read to get you out of a reading slump. A little cheesy at times, but cute. I think that’s the whole point of these types of books. I would’ve rated this higher but some interactions and choices made me scratch my head a bit. This definitely fits in with cozy/cottage-core.
OH MY GAWWWD. 😭😫 I have never met a Jenny Hickman I didn’t love but this?! Good god. I absolutely devoured this. I loved that it had both the cozy, happy, cottagecore world and also the dark divide world. And how the hell can men with green skin be so sexy? PHEW.
This is the definition of unputdownable. I picked up this book and didn’t stop reading until I finished it 6 hours later. Obsessed.
Kerris Dawn is in search of a husband, and she’s heading to Rosehill to find one. She doesn’t particularly care who she courts, as long as she’s not having to compete with other women for him.
“Men are hardly worth such a fuss.”
As the new fae in town, she has many interested suitors, but of course she’s drawn to the most unlikely one of all. This begins the most delicious, angsty, forbidden romance that will make you kick your feet in giddy excitement when your heart isn’t melting from the handsome fae’s swoony one-liners.
Read this book when you want a short, light, happy fantasy romance with a splash of spice. Perfect to read between heavy books or when you’re in a reading slump.
For Ever was the perfect cozy fantasy romance. I am obsessed with stories that deal with Seelie and Unseelie people. The forbidden love between Kerris, who is Seelie, and Everett, who is Unseelie, was so swoon-worthy and cute. There is lots of yearning and a little bit of spice.
While the story is cozy, there was still a well developed plot with some stressful stakes for the characters to work through. I really loved this story.
Thank you to Jenny Hickman for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
This isn't my first book by Jenny, I've always enjoyed her writing and For Ever is no exception to that.
It has very heavy fairytale story vibes - think Disney princess movie meets romantasy meets Bridgerton.
The beginning was a little slow for me, but honestly that was probably just me being a mood reader and the relationship building was taking a while. I felt like it was pretty predictable so it wasn't drawing me in like I had anticipated. The second half was much faster paced in all ways - character development and plot especially. The last 10% of the book had me in a chokehold and I couldn't read it fast enough lol.
It's a very low stakes, cozy high fantasy book. The characters are traditional fae (Seelie, Unseelie - bright colored hair, different skin texture, etc vs Bat Boy Fae) but the book also hits on a few deeper topics. The issues surrounding classism, racism, and sexism come up many times and Hickman does a good job with the characters reacting to each of these things in a realistic manner.
Kerris Dawn (our FMC) knows her worth and knows exactly what she deserves. She refuses to settle for anything less than passion and love when it comes to her search for a mate/husband - she doesn't care what she has to give up in order to make it happen and I honestly adore her for it.
"I might be afraid but that doesn't mean I cannot be fierce as well" - the growth Kerris has is great and I *love* this quote of hers.
Jenny Hickman’s writing is always magical and beautiful, and this book is no exception. I think Ever is my favorite of the MMCs who she has created, and he is definitely a top-tier book boyfriend. This unseelie fae stole my heart and he should steal yours, too!
This is the perfect weekend cozy fantasy standalone for when you crave easy drama with a happy ending. Jenny is always fantastic at bringing pain, but it is tampered down this go around and she does fix it all!
This is the cozy romantasy book you need, not want, NEED! When I tell you this book had me swooning and laughing at so many different points. This book gives you all the warm and fuzzy feelings while also painting a beautiful immersive picture of a world we all wish to travel to. The “unconventional” (for their world lol) main relationship is a story worth reading. Also you will fall in love with the side characters because they are incredible! Seriously if I haven’t convinced you yet, there is no hope 😂… happy reading!
This is a sweet, beautifully written story of star-crossed lovers and their journey together.
If you are looking for more of a cozy, romance heavy fantasy then this book should be on your list!
Kerris is an 24 year old woman who goes to visit her cousin in the Kingdom’s Seelie fae capital. Her main goal? To find a husband to marry by the time she is 25. Ever, is a 30 year old, strikingly handsome orphaned unseelie male who is literally dodging a female from home who’s trying to lock him down. These two star-crossed lovers never stood a chance. Once their eyes locked they were both done for. But with unrest between the seelie and the unseelie and some vindictive players on the board has their happy ending looking nearly impossible.
The dynamic between Ever and Kerris is cute and tender. I really enjoyed their chemistry and watching them fight through their social norms to be together.
I loved the cozy vibes this book gives off. Every time I put it down I had to refrain from searching for a pastry to eat and a nice comfy blanket to snuggle into.
Kerris has come to Rosehill to find a love match. When she draws the attention of two eligible bachelors, she’s hoping to find the spark of romance to start the next chapter of her life. When she unexpectedly meets an Unseelie warrior, her heart can’t seem to let the idea of him go. But a world divided threatens to keep them apart.
Tropes: 👀Dual POV 🌸Seelie FMC 💚Unseelie warrior MMC ⛔️Forbidden romance 🧑🧑🧒🧒Found family 🏠Cottage core vibes 💫Low-stakes Romantasy 🔥Slow burn with a dash of 🌶️
This is such a sweet, low-stakes romantasy! I was transported to Rosehill with its cute cafes, delicious pastries, and enticing suitors. 🥐 🥧
Jenny brilliantly crafts a vibrant and richly-detailed world where the Seelie and Unseelie believe the worst about each other. Can Kerris and Everett overcome the odds and misconceptions?
For Ever is a beautifully written tale full of longing, romance, and finding comfort and acceptance in another person. I’m so excited to read more stories set in this world!
Huge thanks to the author for the review copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.
This was so dang cute and delivered exactly what the author promised! A cozy, low stakes fantasy romance with a little bit of a spice and a whole lot of yearning.
This takes place in a world where Seelie and Unseelie Fae are divided. As Kerris Dawn approaches her 25th birthday, she begins her search for a husband. While she has multiple Seelie Fae suitors, there is one Unseelie Warrior who has grabbed her full attention. Try as they might, neither can fight their feelings even if they know what they want, can never be.
I loved every second of this. Such an easy read that was engaging from start to finish. While this is low-stakes, there is a little bit of action and a pretty epic plot twist that I did not see coming.
When you read a lot of fantasy series, a standalone like this is a breath of fresh air. Highly recommend!
Marketed as a cozy romance, For Ever is so much more than that. It’s a beautifully crafted story about listening to your heart, even when the easier path—like marrying a prince—is right in front of you. Jenny Hickman delivers a fantasy romance that’s tender, emotional, and empowering.
This is a love story for anyone who believes in choosing deep, true connection over comfort and convenience. The male lead? A swoony, fall-first kind of man who sees and supports the heroine completely—no games, just pure devotion and the kind of gift-giving that makes your heart ache in the best way.
With rich world-building, heart-tugging romance, and a heroine who refuses to settle, For Ever is Jenny Hickman at her finest.
I love everything about this story!! This is a cozy fantasy romance in comparaison to the other books I’ve read by Jenny Hickman and she definitely excels in that genre too. There’s just the perfect amount of action and spice. The characters and the world building are just perfect!
I love how the story deals with inequality between two people who live so close to each other. It's a thought-provoking read that breaks our hearts and picks the pieces up again afterward.
I’m in love with Willowhaven and the unseelie fae warriors who live across the bridge!! Thank you to the author for this amazing book and the chance to read it before its release. Trust me, you need to add this one to your tbr!
Come to willow haven, where fae are forbidden to marry before 25, and no one goes out on Wednesdays. If they do, they might run into an Unseelie, which could be detrimentally tragic. Despite the picturesque landscape, cozy cafes, and inviting libraries, willhaven isn’t as perfect as it seems.
The delicate world building will draw you in , while the social angst and unwritten rules will keep you enthralled. If you need a cozy fantasy with forbidden love, cottage core vibes, and banter that will make your feet kick like a schoolgirl, this one is for you!
I received an ARC for this book and I knew it would be good because there isn’t anything Jenny Hickman could write that I wouldn’t devour! But I was not prepared for how good!!! I need more of this couple and Willowhaven!
This was the perfect cosy romantasy ever, it truly felt like a hug in a book. It has a little bit of mystery, the most immersive world, intriguing characters and a really beautiful slow burn romance filled with angst and a dashing of spice. While it doesn't have the emotional distress that you can usually find in one Jenny's books it still has everything else that I have come to love when getting lost in one of her stories.
There were just so many sweet and swoony moments between the characters that left a smile on my face and i couldn't help but want them to get their happy ending. Just such a joy to read!
At first I felt a bit disjointed starting this one. I'm not used to books written in present tense, but once I adjusted I got sucked in!
I loved Kerris' characters. She knows what she wants and she doesn't want to settle for less. She's open minded and kind. I loved that she arrived in town to find a husband and left having made a big impact on the people she's met. She and Ever were cute together despite being star-crossed lovers for the majority of the book. I loved the scenes of them getting to understand each other better. There's instant attraction, but the book had such a good slow burn as they each come to terms with what that attraction means for them.
Despite the action (especially in the second half) and some of the darker themes in the book, it felt cozy and I literally finished this in a single day. It was the perfect book to relax with in my nest of blankets in my reading nook.
The only reason this book didn't rate higher for me is I predicted the ending and I prefer when a book surprises me. Overall it was a solid book!
My many thanks to the author for a chance to read this as an ARC! While I received an ARC copy, all thoughts and opinions are, as ever, my own. I'll definitely be checking out some of this authors other books!
I absolutely devoured this book! It had me breathless with the slow burn forbidden love, feeling giddy at the sweet romance, laughing out loud at the interactions, on the edge of my seat with the adventure, and captivated by the world building.
I would love to dive back in to follow the next events of the same main characters or explore more with the side characters. My only complaint is that I wanted the final scene to be a bit more drawn out because I wasn't ready for things to end!
This was a great read for me and it will be for you too if you like to escape into a world that will draw you in with a quick paced story, sweet heartfelt romance with a little spice but plenty of tension, characters you love and some you love to hate, a dash of danger and intrigue, ups and downs for the MCs, and HEA.
This cozy, low-stakes romantasy is exactly what my weary little fantasy heart needed.
With a backdrop of 𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘰𝘯 meets 𝘈𝘊𝘖𝘛𝘈𝘙 and Seelie x Unseelie world and Victorian etiquette, things are bound to get 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺 messy.
Kerris and Ever are opposites in the best way. She’s sunshine and sparkle with sharp wit tucked under her lace hems; he’s gruff, broody, and green skinned. Their relationship starts hesitant, a little prickly (as all the best ones do), but the 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 between them is palpable. The slow burn is perfectly paced with awkward moments that become tender in just the right amount of time. The banter is 𝘨𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘺, and by the time it’s spark-to-flame...please and thank you.
And can I just say that the book wouldn’t be what it is without Nia and Maddox, the scene-stealing side characters that had me absolutely 𝘤𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨. Every time they showed up, the energy shifted to pure debauchery and charm. The comic relief that they provided added just the right edge of mischief to an otherwise sweet story.
This is a courtly dance of flirtation, secrets, and fae politics where the drama comes in whispered threats and stolen glances. It’s intimate and contained, with just enough intrigue to keep those pages turning. It will wrap you up in a perfectly whimsical world full of fae fluff, forbidden flirtation, and floral-drenched tension. A perfect palette cleanser—or the ideal starter romantasy for anyone dipping their toes into the fae courts for the first time.
And the ending is riveting until the final sentence, with a satisfying HEA. No cliffhangers. No heartbreak. Just the kind of romantic resolution that feels like a snuggle under a thick blanket with a warm drink in hand.
I had the opportunity to ARC read this deliciously cozy fantasy romance from Jenny Hickman.
It took me a little bit to get into it, due to not being in the right mood for it (mood reader problems!), but once the mood struck, I devoured 80% of it in a single day. I didn’t go to bed till 4 am this morning so I could finish it 🤣 Kerris Dawn is the perfect dichotomy of soft Seelie fae and fierce woman who doesn’t quit! She owns who she is and I love her for it! Ever Gathin is just everything you could want in an Unseelie MMC. He is sweet and caring, fierce and brooding, touch Kerris and die, but also fiercely loyal to his people. The angst and longing and slow delicious burn of their secret meetings and getting to know each other had me kicking and squealing and giggling with delight. I loved the supporting characters as well and the almost parallel journeys that Ever and Kerris are going through, each in their own side of the divide. There are twists and turns, heartbreak, attempted murder, plotting, and scheming, and swoonworthy meetings between the MC’s. I’ll definitely be reading this again!!
I cannot wait to read the next book, which I suspect will be forthcoming or at least in the works and if it isn’t, I’m begging you, Jenny, to write M and N’s story, pleaseeeee!!!!
For Ever is the first book in the Willowhaven Romance series. It's a cozy fantasy romance/romantasy that is really sweet and heartwarming. It was like a cozy Romeo and Juliet but without the tragic ending, and after a hard week, this book was really comforting and exactly what I needed. The fact that I have an adorable SE of it now from The Butterfly Book Club is just a wonderful bonus!
I really enjoyed our FMC, Kerris, and our MMC, Everett, a Seelie and Unseelie fae from opposite sides of a magic wall. Kerris was nearly 25 and Everett was a few years older, and although Kerris was a virgin, she still felt like a 25 year old, albeit a sheltered Seelie one. She played the marriage game and 'dated' multiple people, and Everett had a (quite recent) history too.
Based on the fact that the upcoming sequel mentioned in the back of my copy, titled All Ways, matches a Goodreads listing for All Ways: To Win a Fae Heart announcing that the MMC of that book will be Everett's friend Maddox, I'm going to guess that this series will be a trilogy. I think the three books will have Everett, Maddox and their friend Gryffin as the three male leads. I am so excited for the sequel(s) and the blurb for All Ways is already making me wish it was 2026!
A sweet and cozy romance with a tiny bit of spice, it's another book by Jenny Hickman that I have just inhaled!
This one had all the regency fantasy vibes, which has been my vibe as of late!! I really enjoyed Kerris as a leading lady. Not being “of society”, she was very much a free spirit and hasn’t conformed to the expectations of others. I enjoyed the fancy society, dress transformations, and silly courting between the different characters. I did find the first half to be slow, but that’s probably because I don’t tend to read cozy fantasies that have low stakes. This one just had the vibes, but they were enjoyable vibes for sure!
I also loved the forbidden romance in this and seeing both the seelie and unseelie interactions. Everett, our green skin fae, SHOULD be an enemy to Kerris, but she keep being drawn to him and his border. I found their interactions super endearing (the pastry deliveries and him choking them down for her ahah) and loved how curious they were about the other. Home girl had a Prince and another sweet man vying for her hand in marriage, but she can’t stop thinking about this green dude 🤣
I recommend checking this one out if you like NA romantasies that have low stakes but all the drama. I pretty much imagined every Jane Austen movie while reading about each character. 🙃
4.5 ⭐️ I was intrigued from the start but by the third day of reading I could NOT put it down and damn near read over 200 pages in that one day. I loved how Kerri’s stood up for herself and said what was on her chest and wasn’t shy. Also bold when she wanted to be 😏 The communication between them was everything!!!….now the reason it’s not a 5 ⭐️ is get this…..I felt like there was slightly some miscommunication lmaoooo how right? I just said the communication between them was great. You’ll have to read to get what I mean but basically it all worked out in the end I just needed to trust the process 🤣 I kept thinking shit was going south and staying that way it annoyed me. It did get my heart racing though lol the constant breaking up or separating was not my favorite and I got bored of it after the first time Overall yes I did really enjoy this so I’m not going to really let that affect my rating badly hence the half star. I did feel that the ending was a little rushed, and we didn’t get enough in the epilogue. I would’ve loved to see more of Everett experiencing being a king with kerris by his side as his queen. I just know that would’ve been so cute.
This fast paced cozy fantasy is the perfect palate cleanser! This standalone has forbidden romance, a bit of mystery, action, some twists, and lots of fae. I really liked the characters and story but felt it was too rushed at the end. I loved the tension between characters Kerris and Everett but wow their relationship was so back and forth at times. One of my favorite characters was actually Kerris’s cousin Nia. I love how strong willed and supportive she was. I hope we get a standalone about her in the same world!
Overall I enjoyed this but it just felt too rushed at the end for me. The truth and lineage of Everett being revealed and then him becoming king happened so quickly and did not seem believable. BUT I’d love to see some more standalone from this world as I’m really enjoying the authors writing more and more!

**Thank you to Jenny Hickman & Team for the ARC; all opinions are my own.**
5 ⭐️ 2 🌶
I'm in love. Everett and Kerris have my whole heart. This was exactly what I needed this month. Jenny Hickman has a way with writing cozy fantasy romance, and I WILL NOT HEAR IT OTHERWISE! The slow-burn was to die for, all the longing stares and hesitant interactions were perfect. I hope that there is more to come soon in this new world of Willowhaven!

This was such a fantastic read! can't believe I read it in just 2 days! It's a fast paced book with slow burn romance. It's quite unique and absolutely mesmerizing.
The author managed to keep me on my toes about what would happen next. This isn't a mystery thriller, yet it felt like that at times which kept me glued to my kindle, swiping pages. There were a few twists and turns that were hidden very beautifully.
The emotional and to some extent physical connection between the leads was absolute perfection. All the side characters were also quite distinct and stood out! This wouldn't have been an amazing story without a perfect antagonist and that was also on mark.
There were a ton of callbacks throughout the book! I am sure there would be more that I will realize on a re-read, and I love that a book makes me feel like I'll gain something on reading it again.
Also, this book has some of the most hilarious chapter under-titles! Overall a nice and cozy experience, I would highly recommend it!
This was a really fun story! I needed a more “cozy” palette cleanser and this one was really enjoyable! Love a forbidden romance and a little political intrigue, and the earlier on relationship between the main character have me a little bit of a Tarzan & Jane vibe. Overall really enjoyed the book and Jenny Hickman has another stamp of approval from me :)
