Spoiler Alert 🚨 I just finished New Year’s Eve by Layna Wilde — 61 pages, read it in under an hour, and it was honestly a beautiful New Year’s romance 📚✨
❤️ Three Things I Loved
1️⃣ The DESCRIPTIONS. The ballroom, the chandeliers, the hotel atmosphere, the New York skyline, the warmth + holiday elegance… absolutely stunning. I could see it all. It felt cinematic and immersive and I loved how rich the setting was.
2️⃣ If I’m picking a character I connected to most, it’s Benjamin. Steady, mature, respectful, and emotionally grounded. I liked the way he handled things — it felt calm and grown up.
3️⃣ The romance between James + Eve was sweet, emotional, and vulnerable. I didn’t feel super deep chemistry the way I sometimes need to, but I think that’s because it’s a novella. It’s short. Still beautifully written, soft, romantic, heartfelt, with tension you can clearly see.
✍️ Two Things I Noticed as an Author
1️⃣ Layna Wilde is PHENOMENAL at atmosphere. Her descriptions? Chef’s kiss. Her voice is beautiful, her writing is seamless, and switching POV between James + Eve was smooth and emotionally real. You can feel the craft.
2️⃣ She handled the love triangle and New Year’s emotional stakes beautifully. It didn’t feel cheesy. It didn’t feel like Eve was playing two men. It felt like a confident woman making a real choice, with vulnerability and maturity from all sides. The emotional tone was crafted so well.
⭐️ One Thing That Really Stood Out
This book is beautifully written. Like truly. The setting, the emotion, the pacing, the vulnerability. It felt like a movie in my head. The romance was tender, the spicy moments were tasteful, and it captured New Year’s magic perfectly. This is an easy 5/5 read for me and I HIGHLY recommend it if you want a quick, cozy, romantic New Year’s story 💛
