This was a fast paced thriller about a woman who has aphantasia so when she is a witness to a murder she struggles with being able to give a description of the perpetrator. The killer knows she saw him, so when she becomes his next target, she knows she must do all she can to try to remember things about him. Working with the local detective and sketch artist has been awkward in that it is none other than the man her friends tried setting her up with and it was a very terrible first date. They both are working to trust each other and have to try and put aside that fail of a first meeting. Dante knows he needs to do everything to protect Jules meanwhile trying to catch this guy. But it seems he is always one step ahead of them and when Jules goes missing, he knows he doesn't have much time. Jules can't believe she has fallen into the killers hands and now she must really put her trust in Dante finding her before it's too late. Will this be all there is to their relationship, or can she give it another try if she makes it out alive? Maybe their friends weren't so wrong to try and get them together after all. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I initially read this story in the collection Secrets Beneath the Waves. As this story was my favorite amongst the collection, when I saw that it was released on its own, I wanted to be sure to review it on its own as well. I easily gave this one 5 stars. I enjoyed the characters, the story line, the force proximity and enemies to lovers trope, and the villain was particularly evil. The suspense element was on point and I thoroughly enjoyed the psychological element, which was intense without being "keep me awake all night" intense. This story also had a pretty solid faith element included. Overall, this was an enjoyable read and one I would recommend to fans of suspense novels. Special thanks to the author and publisher for an advance e-copy of this book through the initial anthology. I was under no obligation to provide a review and the thoughts contained herein are my own.
