This is a crime mystery where a cop and an ex-journalist team up following the death of a young girl at an affluent community event. Bonus: this duo is a strong female team. There are lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing. The foreshadowing is on point and you never really know who these women can trust during their investigation!

Blake & Turner - Trafficked Secrets. Library book. Wow! First, I am totally psyched that this author is local! Congratulations M.A. Ferguson!! I really didn’t know what to expect from this book, but I loved it! I read it in 1 day (3 sittings). This is a suspense-who dunnit-thriller type book and it definitely kept me interested throughout! The chapters were just the right length and cliff hangers at just the right spots. The only thing I found sometimes odd was the long chapter titles, but it took nothing away from the storyline. I also feel the book cover doesn’t do the story justice and doesn’t grab your attention like the book so deserves - I assume this is due to self-publishing. But never-mind all that, this is a great book and a definite page turner! Nothing too, too intense, but I just couldn’t put it down! I absolutely loved the characters! The story was just the right length with no noise or useless drawn out details. And what about that ending? I had lots of theories about it, but I didn’t figure it out - the last few chapters were definitely passionate and I felt it! And the bonus chapter??? WHAT IS THAT??! I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book of this three-part series!! Awesome work M.A. Ferguson!! I am now a fan!!

This is a haunting tale of reality and the secrets that lurk amongst the shadows in our communities. It is a story of trust, friendship, naivety and cruelty as well as the acceptance of the ability to make a change no matter the cost.
MA reveals truths that most of us try to deny for fear of crumbling. Through characters that are well-formed, a plot that is nicely paced, and hard truths about our expectations and personalities, we meet Megan Turner, officer of the law, and Sienna Blake, a socialite with depth. Opposites when you first meet them, with Sienna being a happily married mother of two contemplating going into the workforce and Megan, new to the community, whose family is her dog, as an ex-marine she respects the rules and her place within them.
With the opening scene of glamour with a side of grotesque, the contrasts throughout the story make it interesting.
I will definitely be reading the next book with Megan and Sienna, set up perfectly with the "bonus chapter" that concludes this novel.

This gripping mystery-thriller masterfully delves into themes of betrayal and the strength of female bonds. The fast-paced and captivating narrative, well-written, keeps the reader hooked until the very end, especially with the bonus chapter. Highly recommended! Another fabulous book from a Canadian author.

Love this book. So easy to read and love the pace of the story. Can't wait to read the other 2 of the same series.
