He never stopped loving her. She never planned to return.
But some first loves refuse to stay past.

Dylan
For ten years, I’ve tried to forget the one who got away, but you’d never know it. To everyone else, I’m the fuckboy—never sticking around long enough for feelings to stick.
The truth? My heart’s been off the market since she moved to town when I was thirteen and stole it.
Now she’s back—beautiful, guarded, and just as impossible to ignore as she was back then. I spent a decade trying to forget her, but one look is all it takes to realize the truth.
I never stopped loving her.

Aurora
Coming back to the town I grew up in was never part of my plan. Yet here I am. Seeing Dylan again—the boy who saved me all those years ago—feels like no time has passed at all. Being near him brings back memories I forced into the deepest corners of my heart… and feelings I never let go.
Now our past has come crashing into our present, and the love we once shared refuses to stay buried.

Are we brave enough to give love a second chance—or will opening our hearts again destroy us both?

Second Chance Season was such a heartfelt and emotional addition to the Seasons of Love series. Michele Elizabeth really knows how to pull at your heartstrings with a slow burn, childhood friends-to-lovers story that feels so raw and earned. Watching Aurora (Rory) return to her hometown to face her past and reconnect with Dylan was everything I hoped for. Their history is heavy, but seeing Dylan, who's the ultimate reformed playboy and a sexy, tattooed cat daddy (meeeooowww!), remain so steadfast in his love for her was just beautiful. He is such a green flag, and his devotion to Rory, even when they were just trying to navigate being friends again, had me swooning.

The emotional depth in this one really stood out, especially with the themes of trauma healing and found family (which are my favorite tropes!). Michele handles Rory’s baggage with so much care, making her growth feel authentic rather than rushed. While the burn is definitely slow, the tension and yearning between them were palpable, making it so much more satisfying when things finally ignited. If you’re looking for a second chance romance that will make you tear up but ultimately leave your heart full, definitely push this to the top of your TBR!

Tropes
- Friends‑to‑lovers
- Second chance romance
- Dual POV
- Found family
- Slow burn
- Reformed fuckboy
- “It’s always been you” energy

What Worked
- The flashbacks added depth and made the history between Dylan and Aurora feel lived‑in.
- Loved getting updates on the wider cast woven naturally into Dylan and Aurora’s story.
- The conversations between Dylan and Brandon — peak emotional grounding.
- The moments when others tried to interfere and Aurora clocked what was happening.
- The letter — if you know, you know.
- The faith and trust between them, even when things got messy.
- “Murder mittens” now lives rent‑free in my brain forever.
- Dylan’s dad’s confession hit in many amusing ways.
- The ending wrapped everything up in a way that felt earned and satisfying.

What Didn’t Work
- Early‑book Aurora was… a challenge. Her treatment of Dylan was frustrating.
- That said, her growth arc kicks in about a quarter of the way through, and she becomes far more open — so the rocky start does pay off

Accessibility / Reader Experience
- Many authors use italics to signal flashbacks, but screen readers and text‑to‑speech often don’t announce that shift.
- This can make it harder for readers who rely on audio or visual support to realise they’ve moved into a past timeline.
- A simple fix — titling the flashback or adding something like “Dylan, age 15” — would make the experience smoother and more accessible for everyone.

Who Is This For
- Readers who love a slow burn with emotional depth
- Anyone who enjoys a bit of emotional damage before the payoff
- Fans of spice that’s purposeful and story‑driven
- Readers who appreciate humour or banter that feels intentional, not forced
- Romance lovers who need their HEA delivered with heart

This season of love series is one of my favorites. I mean, Michele, not sure you can get any better love. This third book in the series was phenomenal. So many love and sad moments throughout the novel that it grabs your attention and you never want to put it down. I was giggling at parts, having a few tears at some parts, and falling in love at other parts.

I totally understand what Rory is going through in life. My heart aches for her as losing somebody tremendously important to you and having to up root and move at a young age. Then having the consequences of that death still affect you throughout your whole school experience because her dad. It is sad when you want to leave and not look back. But she is so strong, independent, and patient. Not only that she has an everlasting happiness to her and even bigger heart.

Dylan the type of guy that would always have your back when he is truly invested. From the get-go, he has always looked out for Rory and always had her best interest in mind. From the bus drive to school on her first day, you can see he was never really wanting to let go. With the ten years of laps, he still never let go. Kind of feels like he always knew that there would be an ending with her. One thing I’m grateful with him is that he had patience and finally was not afraid to let her know how he truly felt.

If you have not read this series, you definitely need to read it. I have enjoyed every single one of the books books. I never can put them down and I end up reading them in one sitting. Plus there is one last book in the series so that is even better I cannot wait to see what happens with Dane.

4.5 stars!!

This story really put me through it. This is easily my favorite story so far from Michelle, and I loved Dylan and Rory so much.

Rory left town as soon as she graduated high school and the best friend who helped her through her childhood trauma, while Dylan was left to pick up the pieces of his shattered heart. He buried his feelings so deeply that he never allowed the possibility of a relationship to take up any space. As far as he was concerned, his heart was closed for good.

When she returns after her father passes away, Dylan and Rory find themselves back in each other's lives, with a friendship that's always been rooted deep in their souls. Dylan knows she needs a friend, and that's exactly what he's determined to be for the girl who still owns his heart.

So much time has passed, but some things never really change. They both know they've always belonged in each other's orbit.

The question is... will they finally open up about the past and move forward, or is there too much hurt to ever truly find their way back to each other and give love a chance?

"And that was the truth of it. I'd spent the last ten years trying to forget a woman who was, in fact, unforgettable."

"Oh, sunshine. You said that's what your friends call you. The things I want to do to you are anything but friendly,"

"Don't worry, baby, it'll fit. I'll make sure you're more than ready when you take all of me."

"Make a wish, sunshine."

"I couldn't f*cking breathe without you,"

"I've dreamed of this—of how beautiful you'd be when you come for me."

"And I am going to enjoy every single inch of you before I feel you fall apart on my c*ck!"

The number of times I teared up while reading Rory and Dylan’s story was unreal. If you’re into tropes like trauma healing, second chances, and the blossoming of a childhood love, this is the book you need to pick up.

Second Chance Season by Michele Elizabeth is Book 3 in the Seasons of Love series, and you’ll love it just as much as Falling Too Soon and Snowbody Has to Know. Just like his brothers, Nathan and Brandon, Dylan is an absolute green flag who loves his girl deeply and would do anything to make her happy. Even if she just wants to stay friends and it breaks his heart. On top of that, he’s ripped, has tattoos, and is a cat dad to the most adorable cat in the world. Who wouldn’t want a man like that?

Rory is sweet and independent, but has a lot of baggage to carry. She lost her mother when she was only 13 years old, and her father was an alcoholic who severed all ties with her family the moment her mother died. They moved, and that’s when she met Dylan, who became her best friend. If only that had been enough for her to stay in the house where she was so unhappy.

Michele Elizabeth doesn’t shy away from difficult topics. This is very much a lovely romance novel, but it also touches on mental health, abandonment issues, abuse, and manipulation. These topics don’t define the plot, but they are very important in understanding the main characters, as they clearly shaped who they are today.

And of course, there’s no book by Michele Elizabeth that I’ve read so far that doesn’t need a little red pepper rating. Although this one is more of a slow burn, the spice is definitely there, and the attraction and yearning between those two… 🥵

If you’re looking for a romance that might make you shed a tear and fall in love with the characters, push this book to the top of your TBR. I really hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as I did.

Being part of the ARC Team since book 1 I would say that this one is my favourite 😊
The brother who never believed in love and relashionships in the previous books, is the one who gets in a beautiful love story that started at age 13.

Dylan and Rory met when they were 13 and she moved to the house next door after her mom died. Dylan was her best friend right away and they developed a trust based friendship. But with an abusive father she had to leave and Dylan was left with nothing. Sleeping around and closing his heart was his escape. But after 10 years Rory is back after her father died and they found each other again. This time, they are not willing to let the other go. And for someone who didn't believe in love, Dylan only have eyes for Rory (and his 🐱 - Coco Baby).

A beautiful romance, where we feel the chemistry between the characters and the writing of the author is more mature and less eager 🧡

Looking forward for the last book of the series 🥰

Michele did it again this one. This is book 3 of the series and if you haven’t read the other two, I highly recommend you read the first 2 before reading this one. The way that Michele made me feral for Dylan’s story, I cannot put into words. I was so much looking forward to seeing this cat daddy get this HEA.

Rory (Aurora) got out of town as soon as she could, and she didn’t look back until now. Her father has passed away, and she needs to go back and deal with what is left, his house. She hasn’t been back in 10 years, and she is both excited but scared of the possibility of seeing Dylan again. Unsure of what her future holds, all she knows is she needs to close the chapter on what to do with her dad’s belongings.

Dylan hasn’t had feelings for a single woman since Rory. He replaces feelings with one-night stands and endless partying. He is tormented by her memory, unable to move on. He has major regrets for how things ended with her. One day, while at his dad’s house, he sees her for the first time in 10 years. He is determined to not let him leave her again.

Second Chance Season was such a heartfelt, emotional read that completely pulled me in from start to finish. The writing was engaging, and the characters felt incredibly real and easy to connect with. This is my favorite in the Seasons of Love series. I laughed, I cried, and I truly fell in love with the characters.

Rory and Dylan’s journey is filled with healing, growth, and so much emotion. Rory’s past is absolutely heartbreaking, and there were multiple moments where I just wanted to reach through the pages and hug her. Watching her return home and reconnect with Dylan made their story even more powerful. Dylan completely stole my heart. The fact that he was willing to stay friends just to keep Rory in his life shows how deeply he loves her, even after all those years apart.

The slow burn was 100% worth it. It made their relationship feel authentic, natural, and truly earned. I was rooting for them the entire time, and seeing them finally get their second chance and their HEA was incredibly satisfying.

This can definitely be read as a standalone, but I’d recommend reading the first two books for the full experience.

Thank you to Michele Elizabeth for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Second Chance Season

Can love survive a decade apart? This book shows us that anything is possible.

Dylan and Rory have been living seperate lives for ten years, ever since she left town but now she's back and Dylan realises that his feelings haven't changed. However, he doesn't know if Rory feels the same. Or if they can even be friends after the way she left. Their path back to each other isn't easy but if something is right, it's worth the pain.

Michele has given us a truly emotional journey for these two. We see, through dual timelines, what these two once meant to each other and it breaks your heart knowing that they are no longer in that place. But watching them navigate the emotional landscape that is their "relationship" gives you hope and shows that by just being there, next to the special someone, can heal old wounds.

There are some dark topics covered in this book, with both mental and physical abuse discussed as well as a form of bullying, via manipulation (please be aware of this going forward). These topics are shown in an honest light but with careful consideration.

This is the third book in Michele's "Seasons of Love" series and it doesn't disappoint. 4.5 stars for this one. Grab them all, you won't be sorry.

Second Chance Season is book three in the Seasons of Love series. While it can be read as a standalone, I 100% recommend reading the earlier books—you’ll fall in love with all the characters even more.

Aurora (Rory), our FMC, left town ten years ago and has finally returned to her childhood home to confront the demons that have been haunting her. Helping her pick up the pieces is the first boy she ever loved—the one she left behind all those years ago.

Dylan, our MMC, is forced to face his past with Rory and the heartbreak he’s carried for years. This time, though, he’s not going to let her slip away again.

Dylan and Aurora’s journey is bittersweet and truly comes full circle. Their story is filled with struggles, insecurities, intense chemistry, and a love that never truly faded.

If you enjoy second-chance romance, friends-to-lovers, and stories centered around trauma and healing, then you absolutely need to pick up this book ASAP!

Thank you Michele for allowing me to Beta and ARC read this 💛

Season of Love Book # 3 💛. Standalone but would recommend reading book 1 & 2 as the characters all interconnect.
5 ⭐️

Aurora (Rory) & Dylan connect is bittersweet but will have you falling. 10 Years ago Rory finished high school and then up left from the demons and never wanted to come back until, she finds out that her father has passed and has to deal with her childhood home. Dylan tried to get Rory to stay all those years again but didn’t want to ruin their friendship, so he let her go hoping to remain friends but only to find out there so called “Friend” Mel tries to interfere and break them apart.

I have loved every book of this series but bring on book 4 😍 (Dane) Dad’s story!
Thank you Michele for this amazing series and keep them coming! 🥵

OMG the YEARS of pining... Childhood best friends Aurora and Dylan are the pure definition of soul mates. Book 3 made me cry, made me laugh, but most importantly, made me fall in love with Rory and Dylan....more Dylan than Rory? maybe but both for sure. After a decade apart, their little reunion out on the street was just everything, gah the emotions! It's been a while since a book made me cry while still smiling. A real slow burn after years of longing, taking their time to get to know each other again, but the chemistry was still there and that was just as hot as the steamy scenes. LOVED book 3 in this series, and so please to see the HEA for all three brothers now - a standalone with interconnected characters.... now if only Daddy Dane would get a HEA huh? ;)

ARC Review

This book was beautifully written. It has elements tackling the topic of *DV*. It’s not extreme but it is there so please take caution if this is a trigger for you.

Dylan and Aurora have been friends for years. To escape her home life she left town and they lost contact. She’s back now after 10 years to handle affairs dealing with her father’s passing.

The feelings they both possess for each other are very much still there. I freaking hated Mel. You can see how she was operating and all I wanted was to punch her in the face. I am so glad Dylan saw it.

When they finally break that sexual tension and get spicy it is oh so worth the slow burn. Despite me being over dying because it was such a slow burn lol.

Honestly I loved it so much. I loved seeing the couples from the other two books and especially seeing the brother’s (Nathan, Brandon and Dylan) dad.

Great read!!

This is my honest review of Second Chance Season

This book was so heart-warming and I could not put this down! Dylan and Aurora are both so charming in their own way and I just couldn’t stop rooting for them.

Aurora has been through so much loss in her life and she felt so guilty about what happened between her and Dylan ten years ago. She had major remorse and was willing to fight for the friendship again.

Dylan is still in love with her, but is willing to stay friends just to keep her in his life again. I loved how they could mostly return to their original familiarity with each other so soon. Both showed tremendous character growth and found it easier to choose what was right for their future.

I also love his family dynamic and how close they all are. They welcomed her into their lives with open arms and no judgement or expectations. She finally had her (found) family where she could feel wanted and loved.

The burn was slow, but well worth the wait. I don’t have tattoos myself, but this book might have convinced me to reconsider after reading about dandelions (IYKYK).

I absolutely recommend this book!

Thank you Michele Elizabeth for this ARC

I could not love Second Chance Season more if I tried! The raw emotion in this story from both Dylan’s and Rory’s perspectives was absolutely palpable. Michele delivered such a beautiful second-chance, friends-to-lovers romance that had my heart fully invested from the very beginning. Every moment between these two felt real, heartfelt, and deeply earned.

And that slow burn? It was burning. The tension, the longing, the history between them—Michele built it so perfectly that when things finally ignited, the heat was ON! 🔥 Dylan and Rory truly deserved their chance at love and happiness, and watching them find their way back to each other made my heart so full.

Michele was already an auto-read author for me, but this book sealed it even more. Now I’m absolutely DYING for Dane’s story! 😍

Thank you so much, Michele, for the ARC. This one will stay with me for a long time 💛

I’ve been waiting for Dylan’s story Since Michele’s first Book, Falling Too Soon. And let me tell you, Dylan was worth the wait. This Story was absolutely beautiful. Rory has such a tramatic past and may of not made the right call 10 years ago, but like the saying goes, If it was meant to be it will come back again. and boy did it ever! There was healing, Love, and Growth especially after huge losses, and Michele, you did NOT lie about a sloooooooooow burn, which normally I’m counting the pages til the spice hits, but honestly I didn’t even realize I was waiting because I was so caught up in the story. What can I say other than Second Chance Season is a MASTERPIECE! P.S. I still hope Mel falls into a sewer, I said, what I said.

I just finished Second Chance Season and wow… the emotional rollercoaster this book put me through! I flew through it in a day because I needed to know how it was all going to unfold. Watching Aurora & Dylan find their way back to each other after years of hurt was such an emotional journey. The push & pull, the “almosts,” the moments where I wanted to just shake them (& hug them at the same time)… Michele’s writing has a way of pulling me right in so that I felt everything right alongside them. And when things FINALLY start to fall into place? Still smiling and getting the warm fuzzies thinking about it.

As always, I loved seeing familiar characters pop back in from earlier books. And I’m soooo excited for who’s coming next (no spoilers, but I’m READY 👀).

Second Chance Season
by Michelle Elizabeth
Season Of Love book 3

This is just the sweetest heartwarming book. Slow burn but emotional I just ate this one up!
Rory has been through a lot in life. Losing her mom and her father turning abusive. Her only constant in her young life was her friendship with Dylan. All through high school him and his family were there. Dylan loved her but just kept being her friend.
But after high school she disappeared from everyone’s life. Dylan has held on anger towards Rory for over a decade with a revolving door of woman. It all changes when Rory shows back up. So much animosity and unresolved feelings. Oh the emotions and the love between these two is palpable! They heal together and move forward and fall even harder. This one was just so good 🥺

Thank you to the author for this ARC! 💛

After loving book 2, I was so ready to dive into Second Chance Season! However, the only downside to book gaps is that I always forget what happened 😂.

Anyway, reading Dylan and Rory's story was messy, sweet, but also kind of sad at the very same time. There was so much complicated history between them that I felt for the two of them. I enjoyed the flashbacks because they really allowed for more perspective into why Dylan ended up being how he is. In saying that, it was nice to see another side to Dylan. Their story was just so... them in every way. Reading this just reminded me of how much I enjoyed their goofy family dynamic, and I cannot wait to read Dane's story in the next one!

You already KNOWWWWW I loved this book. I don’t know what Michele puts in these books but I devour them every time. We finally get the play boy brother’s story and honestly wasn’t what I expected. It was better. Long lost love. A jilted friend?lover? Idk but she was a wreck. A cute baby coco who steals all the attention. And pop ins from past characters.

For 238 pages, this book covered a lot and sent me through all the emotions. I love all the characters so much and I think this author does such a great job conveying their emotions.

I need their dad to have his book now cause LORDDDDDY 🥵

Anyway,

I absolutely inhaled this book once I had a chance to sit down with it. This is the third book of Michele’s that I’ve read, and I fall in love with her writing a little more each time. Rory and Dylan are book couple goals, and Michele does such a beautiful job writing some heavy topics, while truly capturing the emotions that come with those topics. I cried, laughed, yelled and almost threw my kindle a few times reading this literary masterpiece. The Seasons of Love series is a beautiful collection and I personally cannot wait for the next book!

what can I say this is one of the best books in this series so far. The slow burn and yearning between Dylan and Rory were just too good. I love a second chance, and these too so much needed a chance from the very beginning. I love a man who is in touch with his emotions and Dylan was that guy, The found family is also so great in this story. I need all the books in series to have an audio; I could only images how much more wonderful it will be. Thanks to the author and the publisher for allowing me to experience this book.

I absolutely loved Dylan and Rory! This was such a beautiful second chance romance that really tugged at my heart strings. The way these two characters found their way back to each other was incredible - everything they had to overcome to get to each other had me reaching for tissues and turning the pages so fast, I binged the entire book in one day! And their chemistry? Off the charts! I highly recommend this book and the previous two in the series by this talented author.

I can't recommend the Seasons Of Love series enough!! And I think Second Chance Season may just be my new fav! I just adore Michele as both an author and I've been along for the ride since book One.

Each book so far has been seasonally themed. Starting with Fall, Winter, and now Spring.. I absolutely cannot wait for Dane's story in the final book for this Summer. I already know it's gonna be dang good!

First of all as a crazy cat lady, CoCo baby being a huge part of the storyline had me completely obsessed...Who doesn't love a cat daddy!?!

This one really got the emotions going, with Dylan and Rory finding their way back to eachother after unknowingly both loving and then losing eachother as teens.

Their journey is full of healing and growth. Rory has been through so much, I wanted to cry for her more than once.. And Dylan was never able to truly move on, turning to falling into bed with no feelings attached.  So when these two finally get their HEA, it was impossible not to be sitting here with a huge smile on my face.

If you love slow burn, second chance romance, with the perfect amount of steamy spice to make you blush.... and CATS then I can't recommend this book enough.. actually just go read the whole series!!!

Rory had to get out of town. The situation with her dad was getting worse and despite her best friend Dylan confessing his feeling for her, she couldn’t stay. But she is back in town ten years later and Dylan is standing in front of her, wondering where she has been. Can they become friends again or has time just been too long?

The scene from the last book has stuck with me and I was always wonder why Dylan took off running. Now we know why and it was worth the wait. I love how these books dig into some pretty serious issues, but it simple and straightforward. It deals with them head on and you aren’t yo-yoing all over the place or rehashing them a thousand times. It is so refreshing. As you move on the with the story, you see how these two needed each other then and now again. I love seeing how the other couples are doing and of course Coco baby will make you smile. Looking forward to the next one. 5/5⭐️ 3/5🌶️

✨Every book I read by Michele I swear it’s my favorite. This book really had me in my feelings. It was just so beautifully written. There were a few times I teared up. The way she’s able to express what the characters are feeling makes me feel like I’m feeling it too.
✨Aurora and Dylan are just so cute together. How easy their relationship had always been and despite years passing by, they fall right back into it. I loved this book so much. I can’t wait for the next one in the series!

Wow, what an emotional ride >>> 4 big cries in this book. I loved meeting Aurora (Rory) and getting to know the youngest Pierce brother, Dylan 🥰 their second chance romance story was so heartwarming despite the heartbreak . Plus who doesn’t love an animal sidekick (love you coco baby). It was also great to hear updates about my other two Pierce brothers and daddy dane
