Bakedverse #4

Their Lucky Knotty Charm

Rate this book
Mila Castellanos swore she was done being paraded for Alpha approval.

After escaping a failed pack and quietly shouldering the debt they left behind, all she wants is independence—her own bar, her own rules, and a space where Omegas who don’t fit society’s polished mold can finally breathe.

But luck has never been on her side.

So when she’s once again forced to attend a mixer, Mila expects the usual humiliation.
What she doesn’t expect is a Bridgerton-inspired St. Patrick’s masquerade, wrapped in emerald silks, candlelight, and whispered promises—where one lucky Omega will be chosen by a pack and awarded fifty thousand dollars.

Enough to erase her debt.
Enough to finally open the bar she’s been dreaming of.

One night.
One mask.
One gamble.

Behind silk masks and Irish luck charms, Mila catches the attention of a mysterious pack who don’t look at her like she’s broken—or desperate—but like she’s rare. Like she’s already theirs. Their touches linger. Their voices promise protection. And when fate twists unexpectedly in her favor, Mila realizes the prize isn’t just the money…

It’s the knot forming between them.

But luck always has a price .

As secrets unravel and her past threatens to resurface, Mila must decide whether to walk away with her winnings—or risk everything on a pack that feels less like chance and more like destiny.

Because this St. Patrick’s Day, Mila isn’t chasing luck anymore.

She’s claiming it.

A mask-heavy, luck-kissed, slow-burn Omegaverse romance filled with masquerade tension, found family, protective Alphas, and a guaranteed happily ever after.

I liked the characters. The story didn’t quite make sense, but I haven’t read the earlier ones in the series so maybe I missed some world building. Did quite a bit of skimming, too long in spots and dragged. Way too much time spent describing their scents again and again. Loved all the mixology.

This was a great story but I felt like this book could have been 200 pages less. There was a lot of repetition in the description of the characters. Also some of the descriptions of the surroundings ended up taking away from the story but I enjoyed this book none the less

This book really had potential, but the constant use of these senteces ruin the book. Yes the storyline was good, but these quotes are from one chapter and i haven’t even included all of them. I dont know if it is AI or just a really bad writing style, but I can’t handle it.

“of a man who is exactly where he expected to end up this morning and is fine with it.”

“Finn says, with the concentrated delight of someone who has found something they intend to keep.”

“Declan says, with the dry delivery of a man adding something to an internal file.”

“Declan and Finn exchange a look—the synchronized, practiced side glance of two men who have had this particular exchange enough times to have developed a physical shorthand for it.”

“Finn looks at me with the expression of someone who has heard everything I just said and disagrees with the conclusion.”

“Finn on the floor, comfortable, watching me with the steady patience of someone who has accepted that this news requires time.”

“Declan dismisses both of them with the practiced efficiency of a man who has been serving as the neutral party in this dynamic for a significant stretch of time and has developed the ability to do it without engaging.”

I loved the storyline!

Mila is an Omega down on her luck and struggling to keep it together until her friend loans her a lucky coin (and meddles a little) . The book has a great storyline and the characters are well rounded and fun however I feel like there was a lot of unneeded waffle that I found myself flicking through because it either repeated things or contained comparisons that the character had made in the previous chapter. The author is clearly very talented but I just found myself thinking: not again.
It’s definitely worth a read but as much as I want to know about Elowen I don’t think I want to read it that badly that I want to read a three page musing about why her Alphas chose her and why she said yes.
I’ve given 4 stars because of the storyline and I didn’t hate it, I just wished there was less ‘bumph’ and more dialogue between characters.

Fun with a lucky royal twist

Enjoyable story with characters that you find yourself instantly drawn to. There was a bit too much esoteric use of the mixture of scent talk and liquor talk in the first part of the book versus banter and dialogs and story telling that was distracting... there's always a lot of mention of scents and it definitely has its place but this went overboard and almost overwhelmed my attention but once the plot and banter got rolling it was like I've come to appreciate her books for... it was just noteworthy and dragging for a bit which is why I did 4 stars instead of 5 but another solid HEA overall with some twists that I didn't expect.

Ai Written!!!

I tried really hard to get through this book, but it is just so repetitive. You can tell that this is obviously written with AI. It feels like this book has good bones if only the author would truly write it or at least leave most of their own wording rather than let Ai revise/write it for them. I genuinely felt that this story would have been great, but because of overuse of descriptions, short/clipped sentences and responses it just made the book feel too flat. Some may like this book, but I personally don’t like Ai written stories.

Another Amazing Omegaverse Romance!

This was another fantastic Omegaverse story that definitely hit home in ways only it could. When Milla finally found a pack worth being with, and had the support of her best friend Elowen, it cinched it. Three alphas who found Milla to be their lucky charm set the pace for a fantastic and well written story! Milla got her Cinderella story!!! And so did her alpha Prince Charming!

DNF’d at 34%. This is a long book and you’re just meeting one of the love interests on page 230. It moves slow, but not in the slow burn way. There’s a lot of fluff and repetition in the content. There’s also a lot of repetition in the structure. I probably read “but not in the way that… in the way that” a couple dozen times by this point. It has the makings a great omegaverse story, but it genuinely could be half the length.

I liked the book overall. The fmc describing her scent on every other page got annoying fast though. And towards the end, she mentions an encounter with one of her ex packmates that should have been written in not mentioned later, it would have helped build up to the end instead of adding to the already chaotic scene.

I like the premise of this book, the execution needs work. It’s so repetitive, we know what the FMC smells like, we know what her dress looks like, no need to keep repeating it again and again. And Declan’s first POV chapter would switch from 1st POV to 3rd POV? What’s that about?

I couldn’t keep going, had to DNF @ 30%

This reads like one of those AI story transcripts and not in a good way - in a way that makes me not want to read any more, in a way that makes me question the author’s other work. (See what I did there?)

This is an AI book written by an AI “person”. If you look up an author photo, you can see that it isn’t a human. One of the books even has the AI response in it because whoever is inputting them forgot to edit it out.

awesome

Really enjoyed this book. The pacing, story and characters were great. The last few chapter were riveting, loved the few twists at the end.

This felt like it cut off mid-story.

Edit-the version I had was not updated correctly. However, the actual ending was still super rushed and steps seemed skipped.
