Maanden later kruisen hun paden opnieuw.
I was excited to read this ARC as it’s my first book by Rachel, and it did not disappoint! It totally gave me all the Taylor and Travis vibes with its NFL player x popstar romance.
Tripp and Willow are just the best! Tripp, who was already a fan of Willow before they met, makes their story feel so genuine with his sweet little gestures. He's kind, thoughtful, protective, and even works on his impulsive side in therapy. Willow, on the other hand, is the sweetest—always leaving thank you notes and learning to stand up for herself.
One of the best parts of the book is how it shines a light on male mental health, which doesn’t always get enough attention. And I can’t forget to mention Tripp’s amazing mom! She's the absolutely best.
Overall, the story is light, easy to read, and filled with fun side characters. It’s a super cute and sweet read that you won’t want to put down.

Despite this being basically Tayvis fanfic, it was going SO WELL until we got to the OW bullshit.
(Spoilers below)
Context: At this point in the story H/h have not made things "exclusive" BUT H asked out h very publicly, they've gone on a date, had a steamy makeout sesh, have been texting/facetiming each other daily. And basically thinking about each other non-stop. In my eyes they are together.
OW drama: During their first date H tells h about his FWB from college and how they're really good friends, so I already knew something was going to happen.
- H/h have a date planned for the evening - FWB shows up at his door unannounced with a duffle bag & kisses him as a greeting (I would have been okay if this was all that happened here but NOOOO) - FWB then proceeds to make herself at home and goes to take a shower - H is still too stunned to speak - FWB finishes her shower and comes back out to STRADDLE THE H AND KISS HIM WHERE HE KISSES HER BACK. He then finally realizes this is wrong and stops her and tells her he's actually seeing someone. I can't blame her since the H/h have been secretly dating at this point and she was in the dark. I was more surprised he stopped her before she pulled his dick out, honestly. - To make matters even worse, he doesn't send FWB on her merry way. NOOOO he cancels the planned date on the h, stays home to drink & discuss his relationship with h with the FWB (b/c he obviously needs help - eyeroll) and lets her sleep in the master bedroom while he takes the guest bedroom.
IMO h was way too forgiving and "cool girl" when he confessed what happened the following day. Especially since we saw how hurt she was with the cancelled date. I get that this scene was the catalyst for H to realize he wants to go all in with the h but things didn't need to get that far. He was already all in despite this stupid scene. I lost all interest in the MCs after this.
Okay, lemme calm down now that I got this off my chest lol
Ugh I'm totally ugly crying after reading this one😭😭 Miss Rachel, you truly write magic! This romance was everything, I read it cover to cover in less than 2 days!
Tripp and Willow...there aren't enough words to describe their story. This truly hit my swiftie heart! Your Play To Call is a popstar X football romance that will leave you absolutely swooning! The way that Tripp and Willow unconditionally support each other is so sweet, and I love how neither of them are afraid to express their love for each other.
I loved everything about this book. You find yourself falling in love with each of the side characters close to Tripp and Willow. I love the anxiety representation in both perspectives. I secretly hope Emilie will get her moment in a future book🤭 I would love to read more about her. I definitely need to get myself a copy of this one for my shelves!
This book will be available on August 6th in paperback and Kindle Unlimited! Thank you so so much Rachel for sending me an e-ARC to read before release day! I loved every word🫶🏻
✨TW: this book contains cuss words and topics of parental abandonment, toxic relationship, anxiety attacks, sexual content, concussion, and gaslighting.
Now listen, I love me a Tayvis moment and this book was absolutely giving off those vibes. A beautiful singer with a worldwide tour coming to an end and a football play whose wins MVP in the Super Bowl game. Yes, please!
Willow is a character that you will be able to relate to. As a character she has to learn to love herself and that she is enough. She is an absolute gem.
Tripp is a guy who could honestly have any woman he wants but is so focused on his career that that is all he sees.
The two of them together are magic and honestly what each other need. The ultimate HEA. 🫶🏻
OMG. This book! I seriously could not put it down! I was so invested in Willow and Tripp! This book follows a Superstar and NFL player who, by a small fate, ends up falling for each other. I absolutely loved how sweet, thoughtful, and protective Tripp was. More so, I loved seeing the growing confidence and perseverance to follow her heart that Willow had. Although I don't follow them, this book definitely gave me Taylor & Travis vibes, so I know people will love that. I truly couldn't put this book down, and I have a feeling I'm going to be recommending this book to everyone! I highly suggest adding this book to your TBR!
You say sports romance, I say, "Where do I sign up?" It’s been a while since I’ve picked one up, but getting an ARC of Your Play To Call was the perfect reintroduction.
This dual POV story follows Willow, a famous pop star, and Tripp, a football player who’s skyrocketed to fame. Their chemistry is instant, and we get to see them navigate the ups and downs of stardom, life, and love while figuring out what truly matters.
What I loved most? The vulnerability between Willow and Tripp, especially how open Tripp is about his emotions. It’s rare to see a male character so candid about mental health, and it was a breath of fresh air. Plus, the side characters (Emelie and Zack, I’m looking at you) brought so much fun, and I’m crossing my fingers for more of them in future books.
On the flip side, some of the real life inspirations didn’t quite hit the mark for me, and the third-act breakup felt a bit forced and there no satisfying groveling either. But despite that, I still enjoyed the writing and these characters.
If you're in the mood for a sports romance with great mental health representation, this one's for you!
beta read! This book is soo truly special, Rachel does a fantastic job of really perfecting Trip, for her sophomore book. What sets this apart from other sports romance book is that Tripp’s mental health is on the forefront in such a healthy way. Opening the the conversation to stigmas around sports and mental health.
Calling all Swifties and Tayvis fans 📢 Rachel did it again. Your play to call was such a cute and swoon worthy story of finding love in the most unexpected way. The dual POV of both Willow and Tripp and their instant attraction had me invested from the jump. AND THE ORIGINAL LYRICS!?
I love how humble and down to earth Willow is despite her global popstar stardom. She opens up about her struggles and vulnerability in the constant spotlight and her strong desires to show more of her authentic self in her music. Tripp’s golden retriever energy and just likable persona made it no wonder why Willow fell for him. His new status as an MVP Suberbowl winning football player and new romance to Willow lands him in the spotlight more than ever before and the story tells how they navigate the pressures of it all. I couldn’t help but cheer them on. The deeper topics of Tripp’s panic attacks and anxiety were all too relatable and made me connect with Tripp and Willow that much more.
In the end, the story of a popstar and nfl player taking a chance on each other AND gave me that hometown cozy and warm feeling that I adore so much, makes it a book that I’d recommend over and over again!
Thank you Rachel for allowing me to be an ARC reader 🩷
Is a dream worth it if it almost ruins your life? Willow, a global music sensation, is given the opportunity to perform in the Super Bowl halftime show. However, she is forced to keep it a secret until the last minute, which leads to some drama in her personal life. After some help from Tripp Owens, the charismatic MVP who’s just been drafted to a new NFL team, Willow retreats from the public eye to take a break, leaving Tripp behind.
However, the universe never lets things… or people… stay hidden for long. As Tripp settles into his new city and team, he and Willow cross paths again, sparking chemistry neither of them anticipated. The book does a great job of capturing their growing connection amidst their personal challenges.
This is a very fun and heartwarming romance that blends the worlds of pop stardom and football. If you’re a fan of Taylor Swift and Travis Kielce, then this is the perfect book for you! Willow and Tripp perfectly compliment one another and the highlight the best parts of each other. Tripp is the definition of golden retriever energy, and his obsession with Willow is sweet and sexy all mixed into one. There were some deeper topics within the book that gave the story some excellent depth, but all in all, this is the perfect choice for an easy, feel-good read!
Thank you so much to Rachel LaBerge for giving me the opportunity to be an arc reader for this book & providing me with this advanced trader reader copy of Your Play to Call in exchange for an honest review! 🤍
Overall Rating: 5/5 ⭐️ Spice Rating: 2/5 🌶️
I’ll say it first and simply - I absolutely loved this book so much, an instant five stars from me!!!! When I first found out this was NFL player x global superstar i didn’t hesitate to sign up to read for this one - I’d been looking for the type of love & tropes that resemble Travis Kelce & Taylor Swift (aka nfl player x global superstar) since they got together and LaBerge’s Your Play to Call absolutely embodied what i was looking for!
I haven’t read anything by LaBerge before but I really enjoyed this one a lot! As a sports / musician romance, one that isn’t even super overbearing with the sports or the music aspects of the book (it felt so well balanced actually), this read was so easy to read, the plot flowed well, i didn’t feel like i knew what plot ties ts were coming and it was just overall so well written. there was a perfect balance of plot, romance & swoon-worthy moments, spice and just movements where Tripp and Willow were being real people and trying to figure things out as they go, whether that was independent or together.
One thing I really appreciated, and often tend to appreciate a lot in other I read, are the realistic depictions of mental health within the book. In this case, it was shown with Tripp’s anxiety, panic attacks and how he’s able to cope with those - and then how he wills himself enough with Willow to be open and vulnerable with about them too. Even with Willow, who was so real and open about her body imagine and insecurities was so nice to see in the way that it’s relatable to us as readers. I just felt so seen, and it’s nice to feel represented (and accurately) in the books I read, even if it is technically considered fiction! Willow & Tripp’s every interaction I just loved, and I could feel their love and care, and even their chemistry for and with one another just emanating within the pages
I highly recommend reading this book when it comes out, and to snag yourself a physical copy if you can! If you’re a swiftie, you definitely won’t want to miss this read!!

Summary:
Willow, with ten best-selling albums and a history of selling out stadiums worldwide. After a surprise performance, she finds herself dealing with a break-up and with the public perception that she can't hold on to any relationship. Enter Tripp Owens, the impulsive Super Bowl MVP that at 30 and off the best season of his life, finds himself drafted unexpectedly to a new up and coming team.
Months after the Super Bowl, Tripp adjusts to his new team and city, while Willow hides out, pushing for a new musical direction. Their paths cross again, leading to unexpected sparks. They must decide whether to play it safe or change their plans.
My thoughts:
This was a cute story. The characters are likable and the whole premise its entertaining. The writing was good, and I found myself looking forward to read the next one. HOWEVER, THIS ONE...I just didn't enjoy it as much as I wanted to enjoy it. My problem is with the romance. I found it a bit forced, and I couldn't really believe the chemistry. On top of that the third act conflict was really hard for me to digest, and it let a bitter taste in my mouth. Without getting into spoilers, I'll just say that the character that did the groveling, was NOT the character that needed to do the groveling. NO.
With that being said, and although I can't actually recommend this one, if the tropes and the premise is something you would enjoy, don't let my opinion influence you into not reading it.

✨ thank youuu Rachel LaBerge for giving me the opportunity to read this amazing story! i seriously was eating up every word!✨
willow is a famous pop star who just finished a huge tour. she’s super sweet, career driven, and knows what she wants next. tripp is a NFL wide receiver. he is protective, caring, cares about his mental health and a little impulsive. they give all the taylor & travis vibes with a twist of their own. i almost felt like i was watching their love life unfold. this was such an amazing read, it had me smiling and giggling like a little girl.
the character development is amazing. i was rooting for them from the start but watching the change was so amazing. i love that willow comes around to realize she was NOT the problem, knows her worth and what she deserves. i don’t want to give too much away but pre order is open! don’t miss out on this book. ✨
[side note: i loved the side characters too! i need more from them!]
Okay so the minute I found out this was Popstar/football player I immediately ran to throw this on my TBR, and this book nailed it! I loved the entire vibe and could not stop reading it. I just ate Willow and Tripp’s whole story up and immediately just wanted more.

Willow and Tripp run into each other after he wins the Super Bowl where she performed at half time. It’s a chance encounter, but once Tripp gets traded to New York and sees Willow again, he will do anything to get her to give home a chance.
This book made my swiftie heart happy while still staying true to itself and and loved every bit of what we get to experience with Willow and her fame! They are so swoony together and I love how they really try and communicate their need to build a relationship!
Tripp is an adorable puppy, and I thought the way that his mental health struggles were handled was so very delicate and done well.
I loved this from beginning to end a can’t wait for more.
I was super lucky and received an ARC of this book. I loved it so much I went and bought a signed copy from Rachel’s Etsy shop. It was so cute and gave off such happy vibes I couldn’t wait to pick my kindle back up while reading it. If you love a certain pop singer and her football player boyfriend you will love this book. I don’t love them, or really care about them at all but this book was just too good. It honestly had me smiling like a giddy school girl throughout most of it. Highly recommend!!
Tropes: He falls first Pop star X NFL player Sport romance Cozy vibes Mental Health Dual POV
Your Play to Call definitely gives T.Swift X Travis Kelce vibes. The FMC is Willow, the Pop Star Queen, fresh off a new stadium tour and recent breakup. The MMC is Tripp, he's a Wide Receiver in the NFL who's recently been traded. Meeting at the Super Bowl, Your Play to Call follows Willow and Tripp as they navigate a new relationship, paparazzi, and the pressures of their careers.
I found the story very cozy with some spice. I thought Tripp was adorable and very cinnamon roll for me! Who doesn't want a man who gifts flowers, loves his mama, and will fight for you?
Willow was sweet and definitely was the embodiment of Taylor Swift. It's crazy what celebrities have to deal with. I found her likeable and wish we had an actual soundtrack of her music!
This book is an exceptionally unique combination of football, music, and love stories, all wrapped in one.
It is easily paced and very c comfortable to read. I can’t help but see some similarity between the Swift /Kelsey relationship in the story. On a positive note, the author does not make it too identical and therefore you get a very smooth combination of three stories.
I thought the characters are exceptionally well developed and put in situations that the reader can relate to.
As a football fan, I really enjoyed this book. However, I’m not much of a love story reader, but this one was well done, and I would go back to try again.
I recommend.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
There’s genuinely almost nothing I love more on this earth than finding a new awesome indie author. I found Your Play to Call from an Instagram ad, saw the author was from Michigan, and immediately DM’d her. She was gracious enough to let me on her ARC team for this book, and y’all?! Rach is joining the ranks of Letizia and Amelie, who it’s pretty obvious I cannot shut up about. Thank you SO MUCH, Rachel, for allowing me this opportunity to brag about you. Get ready for a lot of posts🙂↕️
Now on to the book: SO. FREAKING. CUTE. Are you a swiftie? Read this. Do you like football? Read this. Are you a fan of Taylor and Travis? Read this. Do none or only one of the prior three things fit you? Read it anyway. That’s the category I fell into. Tripp and Willow are so sickeningly sweet and deliciously hot, and they display sooo many amazing qualities about what people should look for in a partner. Every single time I picked this up, I found myself smiling at my iPad like an absolute fool. The perfect read for end of summer going into preseason!!
This book is a really cute story that reminds my of Travis and Taylor’s relationship. I really enjoyed reading this book and stayed up late just to finish it! Also the amount of spice was perfect! It didn’t overpower the plot, which is what I love about this book and it added to the story instead of taking away from the story. I cannot wait to read the rest of the books in the series 🥰
I also want to thank Author Rachel for sending me an e-ARC of this book! 🫶🏼
Sport | Friends to lovers | Slow burn | Competitie | Tweede kansen | Flirten & plagen | Persoonlijke groei | Teamgevoel
I do wanna start by saying that overall this book was a really enjoyable book. It was quick and easy to read, which I love. I’ve heard so many authors trying to re-create a Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift story, and while I haven’t read those, it doesn’t take much to know that this is probably one of the better ones out there. Now… I did have a few issues with the book. Without going into detail, there was a third act conflict that confused me just a little bit. The character that apologized for the conflict was not the character that I personally felt needed to be the one to apologize. It feels like we kinda just forgot about how one of the characters spoke to the other, which felt really weird to me, because I know at least personally, I would not have stood for it. There were also moments where things were said that kind of gave me the ick. Specifically during spicy scenes. I think this book is very juvenile for an adult fiction. The writing definitely could’ve used more depth as could the characters. But, I did enjoy the pace of the book, I enjoyed how we were not harping on unnecessary things and there really wasn’t anybody in the story who was so frustrated that I had to put the book down, which is so refreshing!! Overall this book was enjoyable, but it just wasn’t one of my favorites. I am excited to see what comes next for the series, though, because I feel like there were enough hints dropped in this book to know who the next one is gonna be about and I’m very intrigued!
Side note: I forgot to mention this, but mental health representation was done very well in here. As somebody who struggles with anxiety and panic attacks, I actually enjoy books that represent people going through these things because it shows that even the biggest and baddest can go through something like that. Great job Rachel👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This was such a good book, and I’m so sad it’s over now 😭 The best way I can explain this book is so wholesome, sweet, swoonworthy, and just perfect. It had me kicking my feet, and butterflies swarming my stomach the entire time. It was so heavily Tayvis coded & executed perfectly!!
Tripp & Willow fit together so flawlessly, everything about them just screamed Endgame! I loved Tripp sooo much as a MMC, he was extremely likeable, a picture perfect Golden retriever, who was sooooo in touch with his own emotions. *WE STAN A MAN WHO ISN’T AFRAID OF CRYING AND SHOWING HIS EMOTIONS* He was so sweet and patient with Willow, and I feel like he brought out the best in her. Willow was so relatable as a female character with the things she felt about herself, her relationship, and her insecurities. Seeing these two figure out life together, and the way their friends and family seamlessly blended together was just too good!
If you’re looking for a new Sports Romance read or you’re a Tayvis stan, I cannot recommend this one enough! Also, I’m so excited because this is book one in the series and I think I know who’s coming next (cough Zack cough).
Read if you enjoy: -Golden Retriever MMC -Popstar x Football Player -Very Tayvis coded (and executed perfectly) -Texts & Lyrics on page -He falls first & harder -Mental health rep -MCs in their 30s -Found family
Some of my favorite quotes: “He’s kissing me in a way that makes me feel like I’m exactly what he needs. Like if he doesn’t have me, every last piece, he’ll drown.”
“Damn, I know he’s a football player, but he picks me up and throws me around like I’m nothing. And I love it.”
“When she calls me MVP, fuck. Why is that the hottest but also the sweetest thing ever?”
This was so stinkin cute!!! I was cheesing while reading it. Could not put it down. Football, pop stars, and the cutest characters ever. I can’t wait to read more of this series! Count me in!
First thought: I had high hopes going into this book and it did not disappoint. If you’re a Swiftie fan this book is for you, it’s everything you want and more! This book is the perfect blend of football, music, romance, cuteness, real life struggles and spice. Run and read this now!
Willow is the biggest thing right now in the music industry she is wrapping up the largest world tour of her career. One thing she has always wanted to do was play the halftime show for the Super Bowl. Somehow the stars aligned and that dream is coming true tonight, but no one knows this will be the biggest surprise ever. Little does Willow know this will be both the end and start of something new in her life.
Trip has been playing football his whole life, he’s currently playing his first Super Bowl and he’s the hype man for his team. They are down after the first half and when they came back onto the field they found out who the mystery performer was. To his shock it was Willow, his favorite artist. He dances to her lyrics and gets his team mates to loosen up, which they really needed. The game ends with Trip landing the game winning touchdown, to his shock he is named MVP of the Super Bowl.
Willow and Trip paths cross post game, when he helps her escape from the paparazzi. Then the unimaginable happens after the amazing season he just had, Trips gets drafted to a new team and he has to leave Seattle with his friends and everything he built to something new across the country in NYC. To say he has a lot of feelings is an understatement, but with all doors closing more open and this next chapter has him crossing paths again with Willow.
You have to check this out to see this Taylor/Travis vibe romance. I promise there’s all the things: spice, Jersey moments, cute hand singles, and the lyrics!

"He treats me like I'm something to treasure. I've been better at being kind to myself, following Tripp's lead. I'm better at standing up for what I want when I'm with him, since he makes choosing myself easy."
"I can't stop staring at Lo. She literally makes it hard for me to breathe."
"Get yourself a girl that will run with you, even when she doesn't know where we're going."
I can't stop smiling...and crying happy tears. The feel good romance, Your Play To Call, by MVP romance author Rachel Laberge, has left me in a love coma.
Willow, a worldwide popstar, and Tripp meet after his MVP winning Super Bowl game. At his own risk, he saves her from the paparazzi. Then nothing...until he makes an impulsive romantic gesture that left me swooning until...well I'm still swooning.
What made this such a phenomenal romance was the slow burn desire to do right by one another. They are cautious with their own hearts and each other's hearts as well.
It isn't all hearts. There are painful tears and honest fears. I was floored by the very real moments of Tripp's panic attacks. His anxiety was written step by step. Quietly, with reverence, the writer takes us through his physical changes as his panic takes over. For us who suffer them it makes you feel seen. For those who watch someone having a panic attack, it brings understanding and empathy.
Tripp's Mom, who he adorably spoils, Emilie, Willow's assistant, and defacto best friend, Tripp's playboy teammate Zack and Willow's ever serious bodyguard Seth are golden additions to this love story. It is Your Play To Call but reading the most romantic book of the summer is a WIN!
*Book 1 of The Play Caller series. (Hope Seth gets his story!)
I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.
( bak orda willow dedim sennn napıyorsun kuzum).neyse neyse o yaptığı jest bence wowww. Güzeldi, büyük beklenti ile başlamazsanız okeydir.
Forced myself through this 🫠🫠 thought the Taylor and Travis vibes would be cute but this was so cheesy and insta-lovey. I hated the reason for conflict at the end too. Idk this was just not for me 🙅🏼♀️
I was excited to receive this ARC since this is the first book I’ve read by Rachel. This book was great and gave me all the Taylor and Travis vibes as NFL player x Popstar romance.
I really like Tripp and Willow so so much. I love how much of a fan Tripp was for Willow before he even met her. All the small gestures he did for her her from when they first started spending time together.
I loved their love story, it felt so genuine and sweet. Can’t forget to mention Tripp’s mom who was the absolute best <3
One of my favorite things from the book is how much attention it gave to male mental health awareness which is really important and goes unnoticed a lot of the time.
