She’s keeping it casual. He’s playing for keeps.

Hollis Clemmins is back in Houston for one reason to run the social media accounts for her father’s new entertainment-first baseball league—the Houston Honky Tonks. Being the daughter of a legendary former major leaguer hasn’t made it easy to step out of his shadow, which is why Hollis promised herself this gig is temporary. One season, and she’s out. No distractions. No complications. No getting attached.

Enter Mason “Fletch” Fletcher. As fan favorite, and star of the Honky Tonks he’s used to winning over entire stadiums. Too bad the boss’s daughter seems immune to his charm. Hollis has no interest in falling for a baseball player, especially not one who thrives on the spotlight she’s so desperately trying to avoid.

She’s set on keeping her heart on the bench. He’s intent on proving she belongs in his world. Because for Fletch, the greatest victory of all would be winning her heart.

So this was a lighthearted, feel good semi-sports romance that brings big Banana Ball energy and even bigger heart.

Hollis is determined to keep things temporary. She's committed to one season running social media for her dad’s team, and then she’s gone. Then she meets Mason Fletcher. From their first encounter, the chemistry is immediate. The next day, when they figure out they are working together? Rom-Com GOLD.

Hollis runs when things get real, guards her heart, and avoids the spotlight. Fletch thrives in it. He falls first, and he falls fast. The slow burn is delicious, the workplace tension is layered, and the forced proximity makes every stolen glance and secret moment hit harder.

Hollis’s push and pull tendencies can feel repetitive at times...UGH. I'm actually trying to be nice. Her back and forth was tiring. Her inner monologue was all about her LOVE, and then she spat some crazy shit about her last name. Her "trauma" and the reason for her hesitance isn't convincing and slows the momentum just when you want her to just choose him already. Still, Fletch’s unwavering devotion more than makes up for it.

Overall, this is a charming, sweet, slightly spicy rom-com.

Hashtag Homerun by Kristen Lucero was such a fun, feel-good read! I loved the sharp, playful banter and the undeniable chemistry between Hollis and Fletcher. Hollis is ambitious and focused, and I appreciated that she didn’t fall instantly—she made him earn it. And Fletcher? Total golden retriever energy. Once he decides she’s the one, he’s all in—protective, supportive, and completely gone for her.

What really stood out was how vibrant and entertaining the whole story felt. The Banana Ball flair, the team dynamics, and the behind-the-scenes social media chaos gave it so much personality. The workplace tension and slow-burn push and pull kept things interesting, while the emotional moments grounded it in real connection. It’s not super spicy, but just enough to add some heat while still keeping the focus on their relationship.

Such a cute, charming sports romance that has me so excited for the rest of the Houston Honky Tonks series! ⚾️💛

ARC Reader Review

This was a sweet, feel good romance but as we all know, things can never go perfectly. Hollis came to town with something to prove to herself and falling for Fletcher, the attractive and talented short stop for the Houston Honky Tonks, was not part of the plan. She vowed to keep it casual and remain friends (with benefits) but the heart wants what it wants.

This lighthearted and sometimes frustrating love story kept me interested. I enjoyed watching the characters develop and seeing how hard it was for Hollis and Fletcher to fool their friends. If you like a rom-com that includes some sports and some spice then you may enjoy this book.

What a cute, lighthearted and fun baseball romance that perfectly represented the “banana ball” exhibition, entertainment side of the sport. Hollis returns home to run the social media for her father’s team. The star player, Fletcher, wants to win…her! She’s only looking for a temporary romance at most, he was relentless with his charm. Their dynamic push-pull, with the forbidden, slow-burn nature of their growing feelings, was entertaining. I adored the glimpses and references to Banana Ball, I thought they were incorporated really well into the story and provided a unique twist to a professional baseball romance.

ARC review: I love the banana ball vibes. It was a fun play on a sport romance. I found some parts repetitive, it was a lot of Hollis trying to push Fletcher away & Fletcher trying to convince Hollis to fall for him. He is confident, charming & funny. I loved all the on field aspects of the story, the tricks & dances, as well as the way they involved fans.

Hashtag Home Run

This is a romantic comedy book. It is an easy to read, fun story. The baseball team is inspired in the bananas team. I really liked Mason Fletcher. He has some good golden retriever energy.

Holli was not my favorite and the reason I don't give it a 5. He was so good to her. She took forever to give in.

Overall an easy, fun, good read.

This is a very light-hearted story. It gives college-style romance with how easy it reads and how the story flows. At times, it felt repetitive with what the characters wanted or said. However, it was a cute and fun read. 3.5.

I loved how it replicated Banana Ball style baseball. I wish there were more instances and references to baseball or incorporated it more. I also loved the curated playlist. I think it fit really well.

Personally, I loved the drive and passion of Fletch. When Hollis (finally) came around, it felt like it happened too fast compared to all the doubt and denial she was putting herself through. She wasn’t my favorite character, but it was a relief to see her finally coming around. What I wish there was more of was drama with other characters that were only introduced briefly.

When the author posted a short summary of this book in one of my reader groups asking for advanced readers, I jumped on the opportunity. Baseball with a Savannah Bananas twist? Sign me up!!
I loved the world of Honky Tonk baseball. The players were all so loveable (single dad pitcher, Noah must get his own book). The vibe was so fun. Fletch was a great character and said and planned the sweetest things.
Hollis left a little to be desired though. Her reasoning for not wanting to stay felt a little flat especially since we never get a chance to meet her mom. I didn't really love her, but her friends were fun.
Overall it is an enjoyable book for people who love baseball and romance like me!

This book was a VIBE and it drew you in right away. The yearning, and commitment was top tier. It was more of a slow burn, but with fun banter. It kept me engaged throughout the book. I loved that I could envision this as a 30 minute rom com series that would hook you right away and keep coming back for more. He is a walking Green flag and honestly she is a walking Red flag. This book will be a great draw for Gen Z, and its aspects of awareness to social media.

I was so happy to be chosen for this ARC. I loved Mason right from the start. Definitely gives golden retriever vibes. Hollis took some time for me, but I enjoyed her spark.

The details of the game and the experience of being there was awesome. I loved how detailed the performances were, like you could picture being there.

Sweet and spicy. Lots of tension evident, but the few spicy scenes were very well written.

Can’t wait the rest of this series!!

I wanted to like this book so badly. I love sports romances and I love Banana Ball. The general concept of the book is Hollis comes home to run the social media for her retired baseball player dad's new baseball league. She's determined to fix the social media and be back in LA at the end of the season. Enter Mason Fletcher. He's the star of the Houston Honky Tonks and he's got his sights set on Hollis. Through a series of bets, punishments for social media, and overall nagging of Hollis lots of steamy things occur in this open door romance.

My issues with this book are so small and I think if you're not thinking too hard about what you're reading, you will enjoy it. It just seemed very clearly early on in the book that Hollis was really really trying to maintain a boundary between her personal life and her work for her dad's organization, and it never seemed like Mason respected that. It was very yeah she's saying one thing, but I want her so I'm ignoring it. Which really gave me the ick early on from him. It was hard to find him endearing or cutesy when all he did all book long was push back against the boundaries Hollis was so clearly setting for both herself and him. It wasn't giving cute fun we both clearly want each other slow burn romance to me it was giving like this man can't take no for an answer and that's scary irl. The other thing I didn't love was that Hollis' backstory never felt fully flushed out, like why was she so afraid of being a nepo baby basically? I would've liked to see instances where she actually experienced nepotism and why it felt so icky to her.

Again if you want a quick mindless read about a hot baseball player I think this book is perfect. I fear I brought too much critical thinking to something that was just supposed to be cozy fun reading and that's on me.

I received an ARC copy of the book. I loved how relatable Hollis was (to me anyways). My favorite part of the book to me was the banter between Fletcher and Hollis. It was relatable on so many levels. I enjoyed how honest Fletcher was with his feelings because normally it is the MMC who isn’t sure about the relationship but he knew 110% that Hollis was his girl from the first moment he saw her. I enjoyed how the author made the FMC the one in control. She dictated the relationship which is awesome to see in a book! The ending was perfect with Hollis realizing that she needed to do a big grand gesture to show Fletcher how much he meant to her. She had to come out of her comfort zone to fight for the man she loved.

Thank you Kristen Lucero and her team for the opportunity to read this story early! I'm so grateful for the opportunity to read this book early and give my honest opinion in this spoiler free review!

3 stars!

The vibes were incredibly high the whole time. I essentially felt like I was reading Jackson Olson/Savannah Bananas fanfic the entire time and am definitely not mad about it. If you’re even remotely interested (obsessed) with the Bananas and Banana Ball the vibes were really high the whole read and had me looking for tickets on resale sites by the end of the book. You could tell the author did a lot of research not only about baseball, but about the Savannah Bananas and it gave the book a very authentic and unique backdrop.

This story follows star shortstop of the Honky Tonks - Mason Fletcher and new social media manager (and owners daughter) - Hollis Clemmins. Hollis and Fletch have a chance run in to start the book in a very charming and compelling rom com way, but then it all kind of went south from there. I felt like the characters both had very compelling stories, but they weren’t explored enough. Hollis was especially frustrating to read because of her indecisiveness, abrasiveness, and continual mixed signals that I was at one point actively rooting for Fletch to stop trying to win her over. Fletch was charming and sweet, but him falling instantly for her and then spending most of the book trying to win her over was tiresome and hard to believe.

If you’ve read my reviews before, you know I’m not a huge fan of an insta - love trope and sadly that (and Hollis) lowered my review. The book was very trope heavy with forced proximity, workplace romance, and ultimately a friends with benefits situation that became a little too busy for me.

Overall, it was genuinely a sweet, low stakes read and is as promised a Savannah Bananas inspired romance. I am hoping we’ll see these characters again in a series following the Honky Tonks because the universe she created was vast and I’d love to see growth from Hollis and Fletch as they mature in their relationship.

TW: professional pressure, famous family pressure, language, sexual content (chapters 18, 23, 24, 25, 28)

Insta-love. He falls first and harder. Friends with benefits. Forced proximity. Reformed playboy. Workplace romance. Baseball romance. Dual POV. First person POV. Spicy.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 🌶️🌶️

If you love baseball romance, reformed playboys, and a black cat FMC who absolutely refuses to be charmed… Hashtag Home Run knocked it straight out of the park. ⚾️🔥

This Banana Ball–inspired romance is FUN, flirty, and surprisingly heartfelt.

Hollis is back in Houston for one year only. She’s stepping into the role of Social Media Manager for her dad’s team, determined to prove she’s more than just the owner’s daughter. She has a plan. A timeline. A life waiting in L.A.

What she does not have time for?
Mason “Fletch” Fletcher.

Fletch is the team’s star shortstop — known playboy, golden retriever energy, and suddenly very obsessed with one woman who refuses to give him the time of day. Watching him fall first? Elite. Watching him refuse to take “no” in the most persistent-but-sweet way? Even better.

Their dynamic is EVERYTHING:
🖤🐶 Black cat x golden retriever
💼⚾️ Workplace romance
👑⚾️ Owner’s daughter
🔥💋 Friends-with-benefits tension
😈➡️💛 Reformed player
💬✨ Banter that just gets better and better

Hollis is sharp, ambitious, and not here to be distracted. I loved that she wasn’t instantly swooning. She made him work for it. And Fletch? Once he decides she’s it for him, the man locks in. Protective, supportive, and genuinely trying to be better? We love to see it.

The chemistry is so good — playful, heated, and perfectly balanced with emotional moments that sneak up on you. The spice sits at a solid 🌶️🌶️ — open door, steamy, but still rooted in connection.

What really made this a 5-star for me was how FUN it was. The team dynamics, the Banana Ball flair, the social media chaos, the Houston setting — it all felt vibrant and cinematic. I flew through it in one sitting.

If you’re looking for:

⚾️ Sports romance with personality

🔥 A hero who falls first

💼 Workplace tension

💬 Sassy banter

💛 A golden retriever MMC who is down bad

This one’s for you.

Kristen Lucero just made me very excited for the rest of the Houston Honky Tonks series.

If you’re looking for a sports romance that is reminiscent of the Savannah bananas and other types of baseball teams filled with banter, slow burn, mutual pining romance, some great characters and a happy ending then Hashtag Homerun might just be for your TBR!

I absolutely adored Fletcher!! He was such a sweet, caring and gentlemanly MMC who not only cared about his teammates but was willing to bend over backwards to care for and show how much he cared for Hollis. He was such a genuine and sweet character that you just won’t be able to help but love him. As for Hollis, I really wanted to love her… but I just couldn’t connect with her. All of her interactions with people came off very her way or no way at all whether it was friends, her parents or even Fletcher. I thought maybe that was just a product of her being new to the job and trying to settle in but I just really had a hard time connecting with her because of this. On top of that her push and pull actions with Fletcher just kinda left the romance falling a bit short for me. I was happy that Fletcher was so genuine and willing to wait for Hollis and give her the space she needed… on the opposite of that Hollis, in my opinion, didn’t really seem to take Fletchers feelings into consideration whether it was kissing or starting up a friends with benefits situation, Fletch had been open about feeling something more for Hollis but she seemed determined to just keep him in a playboy box she had heard him to be from the beginning. I really wish I could’ve connected to Hollis better because I think it would’ve skyrocketed this read for me but unfortunately I just had a hard time liking her character especially when I adored Fletcher so much! Overall this is a decent read with some great characters, fun writing, and plenty of romance that if you like all that plus a ton of banter just may be for your TBR!

I really wanted to love this story. it had all the elements of a truly great rom-com.

I really dont think I liked Hollis as a character. Throughout the story, I ended up getting really frustrated with her hot and cold ways. While I understood what she wanted in life was to make it on her own without the pressure of her family name, she was able to do so and was told many times how competent she was but still refused to see reason. She had a wonderful man in Mason, also idk why she never really called him by his first name, who just wanted to give her everything and she kept PUSHING HIM away. It was very frustrating to read her POV and I put the story down more than I want to admit.

The saving grace of this book was Mason and the rest of the Honky Tonk team. I loved the concept of this story. The Savannah Bananas are really huge right now and this story pairs well. Mason was also a really great MMC. He was funny, confident, and had a hidden soft underbelly. His love of his job as a shortstop for the Honky Tonks was apparent and he really did it for the fans. I could feel his passion for it. I do agree a bit with Hollis that sometimes he overdid the approach to dating her but after finishing the story, I get why. he would have never caught Hollis if he wasn't persistent. she would keep pushing away and the story wouldn't not have an HEA.

There were some things I would change in the story if I could but it wasn't overall bad. when hollis got out of her head, she was fantastic and what Mason needed. She just didnt do it enough.

Now, if Noah gets a story (hopefully where he ends up with his baby mama/best friend) then im all over it. Same with Easten!

Okay, so I have some thoughts. Firstly, I am very appreciative to be given this ARC read. Unfortunately, I couldn’t wait for it to end. Hollis has got to be the most annoying FMC I have ever read. Fletch is the only reason this book has any stars and that fact that I’ve been to a Savannah bananas game and that was spot on.

1. The reasons Hollis was giving about not being able to stay in Texas were sooooooo lame and had no backing. We never even met her mom, I thought I missed something and she was dead. Her dad was cool as hell the whole book, and never made anything seem like she was “in his shadows.”
2. The whole needing to be her own person excuse, like girlfriend, you were your own person in CA and you were clearly unhappy. So put some big girl pants on and do what you want.
3. The cringe I got from hearing she was lip singing Whitney Houston, when in reality they should have changed his walk up song to Dibs by Kelsea Ballerini and it would have made SOOOOO much more sense. It would have brought the book full circle. What a missed opportunity.
4. I realize this isn’t the final book, but could we not have run spell check?
5. You’re telling me you go to Gala hosted by your parents and you don’t say Hi or Bye to them? My Italian ass parents would disown me. Idk. It just didn’t make any sense. OR at anytime in the book there isn’t a text or call to her mom. This was soooooo weird to me.
6. You confessed your love in front of thousands and thousands of people and didn’t run it by your dad? Tf.

This was the longest, shortest book I have ever read.

HASHTAG HOME RUN by Kristen Lucero ⚾️ 4.5 ⭐️ Available 2/26

If you love men of Banana Ball (and who doesn’t?!), this is a must read! This cute & spicy baseball romance is the first book in the Houston Honky Tonks series. Hollis Clemmins isn’t looking for love or anything having to do with male distractions. She only returned home to Houston to take over as the new Social Media Manager for her dad’s team. One year to help him get his league the kind of attention they deserve, then she’s going back to her life in LA. After a chance meeting in a bar with Mason Fletcher, short stop for the Houston Honky Tonks, Hollis finds herself with a man who won’t take ‘No’ for an answer (in the best, most obsessed way possible). Hollis must navigate her new job while trying to avoid the very attractive and very persistent reformed playboy who is suddenly everywhere she looks. Will there be a Home Run in their future or a Strike Out? (Yes I know that was a corny baseball reference, but just go with it!)

Hashtag Home Run was a 4.5 star read for me because I love a baseball romance and black cat FMCs. Loved the sass & attitude of Hollis, which made the banter with Fletch even better. Their chemistry is good, but it could’ve used another spicy scene or 2. Loved Fletch’s teammates and can’t wait to read their books in this series! If you’re looking for a fun read to get you ready for baseball season, grab your copy of Hashtag Home Run on Feb. 26th!

Thank you for this ARC.

As a sports romance girlie I was really excited to read about a team that is based on Banana Ball. This unfortunately fell a little flat for me 2.5 stars would probably be a more accurate rating for me personally.

The story follows Fletch (player) & Hollis (social media manager/owner's daughter). Fletch falls first and hard. Definitely has the golden retriever energy. Hollis to me was just annoying and was a flat character. She kept repeating that she was leaving, that she didn't want people to think she only got the job because of her dad. Honestly there was no mention from anyone about how she got the job, no supporting evidence. I would have rather seen some more evidence of why Hollis felt that way, why she was so scared of relationships. Maybe seen the relationship with her family.

Fletch was top-tier. He was a show off due to his job, but also humble. I enjoyed the parts where he understood they played for the fans to have a good time. His interaction with kids was swoon worthy. He was an overall good guy. Would have liked to seen a little more depth regarding his "baseball dreams" and how he pivoted. Feel we washed over his big opportunity he received.

The book was very slow for me. I am someone who can read a quick romcom in 1-2 days. I had to force myself to read it and really push through it.

I do think I will give another book in the series a try. I do like found family and I am curious to learn more about the side characters we met in this book.

eARC Review: Hashtag Home Run

First of all, thank you so much for the opportunity to read this early. 5/5 stars. No notes. Just perfection!

I need more Hollis and Fletcher immediately. Like… yesterday.
Kristen Lucero completely knocked it out of the park (yes, I had to). From the very first chapter, I was hooked and not just by the chemistry, but by the emotional depth woven so seamlessly into the story.

Hollis and Fletcher feel so real. Their banter? Elite. Their tension? Off the charts. But what truly sets this book apart is how beautifully written it is! Every interaction felt intentional. Every emotional beat landed. The romance builds in a way that feels authentic, layered, and deeply satisfying.

This isn’t just a cute sports romance, it’s tender, heartfelt, and full of moments that made me pause and just sit in them. The vulnerability. The growth. The way they show up for each other. Ugh. I was smiling, swooning, and fully invested the entire time.

And can we talk about the pacing? Perfect. Not rushed. Not dragged out. Just that sweet spot where you never want to put it down but also don’t want it to end.

If you love:
⚾️ swoony sports romance
💬 sharp, flirty banter
❤️ emotional depth with real character growth
✨ undeniable chemistry
then this one needs to be on your radar.

Kristen Lucero has officially secured a spot on my auto-read list. I will be patiently (not patiently at all) waiting for more Hollis and Fletcher content because I am not ready to say goodbye to them. An absolute home run.

Hashtag Homerun by Kristen Lucero

📍Synopsis: When Hollis Clemmins agrees to join her dad’s baseball team, the Houston Honky Tonks (Banana Ball inspired), handling their social media marketing, it’s a temporary position to get the team the recognition they deserve. The last thing she wants or needs is Mason Fletcher, hotshot short stop and fan favorite, to relentlessly pursue her. Hollis is determined to keep her time in Houston complication-free and Fletcher is having none of it.

📚⚾️ Review: This was only my 2nd sports romance I’ve read so far this year and my first ever baseball romance- what a way to start! I really enjoyed this book. Fletcher and Hollis (love the names!) have some great chemistry and banter. I love a classic friends-with-benefits gone wrong story but the Banana Ball-inspired setting made it extra fun! The slow burn and banter are perfect and the heat starts to pick up about halfway through. This on really broke me out of my post-Wuthering Heights funk (which was severe- see my movie review 😅) & I love an author with a playlist!!! 🎶

💬 Quote: “We both know that I love that pretty face of yours, but that’s not what has me hooked. Red flags or not, there’s a light in you I can’t help but chase. So for now, I’ll take whatever piece you’re willing to share. And then, whenever you’re ready, I’ll still be right here, waiting for the whole damn sun. And if I get burned in the process, “he shrugs, “so be it. I can take it.”

3.75⭐️ ARC review.

I’ve read an MM banana ball series - I’d at first thought the sport was made up! - and I was interested to see an MF take on it. The blurb pulled me in and I was looking forward to seeing how this turned out.

I liked how this started - very easy to read - though I found It took me a while to warm up to Hollis especially. She’s quite prickly and abrasive just for the sake of it, I couldn’t understand Fletch’s attraction. And just when she seems to let go of it a bit, she’s back in a huff! It did get a bit tiring but she did start to redeem herself around the 50% mark, and she was likeable by the story’s end.

Mason/Fletcher/Fletch on the other hand was an easier character to like. Maybe he pushed his interest a bit much, but he seemed to realise it and back off a little, becoming more protective and friendly than he initially was - though still a huge flirt.

There’s a little humour here and some cute interactions between the two MCs, but some of them didn’t hit as well as intended. The spice takes some time to get to, but once there it’s fairly steamy, especially from Fletch’s perspective. And I really enjoyed the way Hollis and Fletch’s relationship ended up in the last few chapters.

I liked the Honky Tonk teammates that we get to know - namely Easten and Hudson. Hopefully their stories are to come and their pairings are a little easier on them!

On the whole, an easy to read, cute, sweet romance.

Hashtag Home Run is a contemporary [sports] romance based on a shortstop for the Honky Tonks baseball team and their new social media manager.

Hollis just got a new job in her hometown of Houston. The catch? Her father is the owner of the baseball team that she will be working with. Because of this, she only wants to be in Houston for a year before moving back to California. Hollis is focused on her career and on getting out of her famous parents' shadow. This plan definitely leaves no room for a love life.

Mason “Fletch” Fletcher is the star shortstop for the Honk Tonk baseball team. Honky Tonk ball is like normal baseball with a touch of pizzazz. Mason is a known player, not going home with the same woman twice. Until he sees a girl in a bar and his world shifts on its axis. Only the world is playing a cosmically big joke on him. That girl? That’s his boss’s daughter and his baseball team’s new social media manager. It’s going to take more than that to deter him from pursuing Hollis.

I gave this book a 5-star review.

Hollis can be annoying at times, but in her defence, she’s trying to make a name for herself. Sometimes that calls for being annoying. Fletcher is the most adorable golden retriever guy ever. This book is so light-hearted and fun that you will be able to consume it whole in just one sitting. I’m normally not a big fan of sports romance books, but this one is too fun not to read.

This book is a perfect romcom quick read that is hard to put down. It’s classic romcom material where boy meets girl in a small town at a bar only to learn he’s working with her the next day. While there is some spice, it read more like a lighthearted slow burn.

Hollis has her mind set on things being temporary due to some internal conflicts about her last name. She’s stubborn, ambitious, caring, and at times annoying. There are moments where she gets on your nerves, but in the end it’s worth sticking it out. She just needed time to figure her life out.

Fletcher. I loved this man right from the start. His charm, wit, and willingness to be unapologetically himself. How he acts with his boys had me cackling throughout the book. He said early on that he was a patient man and he really was. He felt like the stability that Hollis needed.

I put this as a 3 star review because I can’t justify ranking it as the same quality as some of my favorite sports romance books that I’ve given a 4 or 5 to. With that being said, I wish I could put this as more of a 3.5 because 3 feels too low. Some of the writing lacked or things moved faster than other parts of the book in a way that didn’t always flow. Hollis at times is repetitive which got old, but I think the purpose of that was supposed to show how unsure she was of her life. Overall, I would recommend this book and thought it was really cute!

Hollis Clemmins is the newest social media manager for the Houston Honky Tonks. She also happens to be the owner's daughter. Here to prove she's more than just her famous last name, Hollis dedicates herself to the work at hand. She doesn't expect her work to be derailed by the fan favorite shortstop, Mason Fletcher. For Fletcher, Hollis is his dream girl. His love at first sight. But Hollis is not falling for this. If anything, she's determined to keep him at arm's length - even farther if possible. As the season progresses, it's clear these two have chemistry. With so much on the line, is it even possible for these two to find love?

Ugh, I wanted to love this one so much. I'm not a big sports romance person, BUT I am a big baseball fan, so I thought this might do it for me. However, I really did not like Hollis. She didn't have much personality, and I really couldn't connect with her. I was wondering what Fletcher even saw in her if I'm being honest. I think I would have loved this more if Hollis were more fleshed out and showed her personality before the final chapter and a half of the book. The story has a lot of potential, but unfortunately, it fell flat. I do enjoy the concept, so I may give the second book a try when it's released to see if the story has improved. As it stands, I can't recommend this highly.

Okay sooo I might have a little more bias in this one than the average reviewer….
Currently live in Savannah, GA ✅
Grew up in the south ✅
Raised on country music ✅
Mildly (overtly?) obsessed with Kelsea Ballerini ✅

BUT despite my incessant, obvious personal bias, this was truly a cute romance book about two precious characters that just couldn’t deny the immediate spark, no matter how convenient it would’ve been for the both of them. Hollis is determined, fierce, and persistent on making a name of herself outside of her parents’ shadows and Fletcher…Fletcher just wants to be there for it. There’s a lot of push and pull and a slow enough burn that they payoff at the end is really worth it and satisfying.

There were some moments that caused me to physically stop reading and take a breath because the secondhand embarrassment was obscene - especially near the end - but outside of those (mostly) short, fleeting moments, this was a great read.

I received an advanced ebook copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
