It is about a girl who goes to search for her mother and later finds out her mother is cognitive delayed. It is a search for herself. She finds out that she has a whole family that she didn't know about. Themes: self-identity (having a parent with special needs) and family tragedy.

This book was recommended by Claire--it was the sweet, provocative, and tender story of a girl with a severely disabled mother searching for her past.
