Chasing the Tide

Rate this book
After an immense devastation, Liza, daughter of the king of merpeople, fights her inner demons in order to go to Nivineon and meet her people as their ruler. But the need for vengeance living inside of her is all-consuming. Relationships, both old and new, become strained and Liza realizes she must come to terms with her life and take charge as the queen of demi.

Being in charge is hard enough without having the entire demi race against you. During her time in training, Liza becomes stronger than she ever thought she could be. When another tragedy hits closer to home, she finds her way back to Mystic as a new woman.

Life was easier when Liza knew her enemies and the reason behind her vendetta against the Sea Witch. But everything she thought she knew is about to change.

The second installment in the Mystic Series, Chasing the Tide is a fast-paced novel that will break your heart, mend it, and give you hope renewed.

"When I thought of him, it was his slow smile and uncanny ability to read me that came to mind."

In order to make this a spoiler-free review, I will only say that Liza is a mermaid and her story is that of a warrior.

Liza is one of my favorite characters EVER. Not only is she very likeable, but she seemed so real to me. Her struggles, her doubtful nature was something I could relate to. And in this book you can see her growing and changing. You witness her journey and feel like part of it.

In this book you get to know some other characters, as well as a new place.
There were characters that I liked a lot, and others that I wasn't so sure. But this story didn't disappoint me one bit. Every character, even those I wanted to kill, helped move the story forward.

This book made me feel A LOT.
I am not much of a crier when I read, but with this book I did cry. A couple of times *sigh*. Damn you, I thought I was a heartless wench.

I can't wait for my girls to grow old so I can share these books with them. They'll learn some valuable lessons, of that I'm sure. I loved Mystic Waters and Chasing the Tide was SO much better. That says a lot.

Cynthia is a very talented individual. And I'm convinced she's part mermaid, too.

Liza will always have a special place in my heart.
