Luke Weston is my best friend.

He's also the New York Monarchs' coach, a perpetual grump, and right now, the man driving the getaway car on my wedding day. I should be panicking about how I just blew up my life or how the media will inevitably tarnish my name.

But while l'm hiding up in the mountains with Luke, it's hard to focus on anything but the way his eyes linger on me and how my body aches for a touch I shouldn't want. As the days go on, my mind starts to wander, and I can't help but think that maybe I should reach for what I truly want before it slips out of my grasp. But no matter how much we might want to, we can't hide away forever.

And the consequences of my actions are impatiently waiting for me back in the city.

Daisy Stonehaven is my saving grace.

But this time, it's my turn to do the rescuing. I know I should be on my best behavior while she begins to piece her life back together. But boundaries blur as we share the only bed inside my remote cabin, and the control l've clung to for over a year starts to fray. The truth is, l've always wanted to be more than Daisy's friend. And I'll do whatever it takes to make sure she walks away from this scandal unscathed, even if it means standing under the stadium spotlights to set the record straight.

Because when this is all over, I'll make sure the only place Daisy will ever have to run to is back home to me.

Thank you Millie Perez and her team for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Actual rating 4.25 ⭐️

This was my first book from Millie and I absolutely adored it!!! It was sooo fun to read that I finished it in about 5 hours and had the best time.
I loved Luke and Daisy so much! Especially how much they communicated with each other. There was no third act breakup, no miscommunication and they were so incredibly sweet throughout the book.
I loved the found family and I honestly can't wait for what comes next after that bonus chapter!

Read this if you love:
• friends to lovers
• runaway bride
• forced proximity
• found family
• yearning
• amazing spice

4.5 stars - We have been waiting for Luke and Daisy since their first interaction in Strikeout!

I love a hero who is in LOVE from the start, and that is our guy Luke. From his silent friendship to the way he loved Daisy exactly the way she needed, the author knew what she was doing with the build up between these two. Once Daisy's ex was out of the picture, Luke was not about to let her slip away!

Daisy is a heroine a lot of us can resonate with. Her people pleasing tendencies were showcased by the author, and you could see how it was affecting Daisy on the inside. I think we've all faced situations in life where we make decisions based on the feelings of others without consideration for ourselves. Watching her come into her own and do what SHE wants was refreshing, and extremely relatable.

I can't wait for the next book in this series! The author has created an amazing found family with the Monarchs crew, and the crumbs she dropped for the next couple have me EXCITED.

First and foremost THANKS to Millie for the e-ARC of Home Runner, in exchange of an honest review.

Writing this review is hard for me because as a member of the Millie Perez and New York Monarch fan club, I was extremely excited to finally read Luke and Daisy's love story. Runaway bride? Forced Proximity? SIGN ME UP! However, this book didn't work for me. I felt no chemistry between the characters, and the pace of the book was extremely fast! With all Daisy had going on, and had gone through I would've like to see more of her growth and more of her healing before starting things with Luke. I like Daisy, and hold a special place in my heart for her because of her upbringing, which is why I think she deserved better. Luke...I won't speak about you!

Home Runner has some sweet moments, and one thing that I did like was the lack of miscommunication. They did know how to talk to each other. The first two books of this series are some of my favorite books ever, and I will never, EVER shut up about them and stop recommending them. But when It comes to Home Runner...Idk!

HOWEVER, me not liking this book doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try. If you like the tropes, give this book a shot, it might be a 5 star read for you!

Tropes:
- Runway Bride
- Friends to Lovers (He has been in love with her the whole time)
- Sport Romance (Baseball, he is the Coach)
- Force Proximity
- Only One Bed

A disappointment, unfortunately.
I really liked the first two books in this series, but this one I skimmed quite a bit.
From the glimpses of Luke and Daisy that we had in the previous book, I was expecting more of an angsty, slow-burn storyline, with lots of yearning. Home Runner did not deliver on that - the relationship between Luke and Daisy went full on in the blink of an eye, with barely any build-up, all of it before the 50% mark.
Daisy's supposedly this people-pleaser, but we are TOLD that and barely SHOWN it.
I hate that Luke's and Daisy's story was more about external things than the friends-to-lovers story between them.
I really enjoy Mille Perez's writing, so I'm going to read more from her for sure. This storyline was just not my jam.

the way i love this whole series and was looking forward to this book to just have it fall soooo flat for me is so disappointing 😭

i don’t think i really liked Daisy the whole series but Luke really intrigued me. but idk it irritates me when a woman is such a doormat for everyone and all it takes is one man to make her change and give her the confidence to stand up for herself. and Luke is the grumpy, brooding guy who doesn’t speak (which i usually LOVE) but immediately when he got with Daisy he flipped completely and was a new guy.

mind you after she ditches her wedding it’s like 2 whole days MAYBE before her and Luke are together and in love… alright

we all know her dad and ex-fiancé suck so no surprises there….

this book has the dead ex trope which is why Luke is so quiet and broody but idk why since his ex was not a good person but whatever

Daisy was engaged forever and they never had sex. silver lining is that Luke never looked at another woman once he met Daisy 🤷🏽‍♀️

also how many love declarations can happen on this baseball field???? it’s actually quite old now…. as a fan i would be like WTF

next book is Luke’s sister and their playboy player.. 🫠 second chance where he already made it seem like “it’s her fault I’m like this (aka a whore) so there’s that. YAY! 🙄🥴

“I should have asked you sooner. What do you want, Luke?”
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“You.”

The nicknames from Luke. Daisy girl, daze. I loved them. Luke is a man soooo down bad and obsessed, truly I’m shocked he wasn’t wearing a collar and leash to hand over to Daisy at any moment. And what a DIRTY mouth on that man. Wow the spice was spicing as all Millie’s books really do but this was one of those “wow that’s gross” as you highlight and save the page 😂

A surprise not to myself but add this to another book with my favorite microtrope and now a fav **he comes in his pants**

“I want you to f—k me like you plan on breaking me, Luke. Because that’s exactly what I want to do to you.”

Now I am only giving this 4 stars because I struggled to connect with the story from how quickly everything transpires and just from 25%-55% I struggled to see a deeper connection between the two main characters. BUT that being said I loved everything after.. i mean I was sobbing at midnight when Valentina found pieces of Daisys mom to connect her to her.

What you’re getting into with this book:
✨ runaway bride
✨ only one bed
✨ friends to lovers
✨ forced proximity
✨ workplace romance
✨ he’s been yearning for years
✨ he’s grumpy/quiet to everyone but her
✨ SPICE 🌶️🌶️🌶️

Disclaimer: I received an early copy of this book to beta read. This did not affect the following review.

I was so excited to read Home Runner, because I loved the previous two novels in this interconnected standalone series: Strikeout and Fair Trade. I think this is a great series if you’re looking for Latine sports romances. With every book, I see Millie Perez’s writing improve more and more. I would also say this is her spiciest book yet! The romance in Home Runner is between Luke, the Monarchs' coach and Nick's (the general manager’s) sister, Daisy. Daisy a runaway bride, and Luke helps her recuperate after her almost-wedding to her abusive ex. There’s a lot of forced proximity, yearning, kind of friends to lovers, and ultimately a lot about standing up for yourself. It’s very sweet, and I had a lot of fun reading it!

I take it back. I take EVERYTHING back.

After Fairtrade, I genuinely thought this series had peaked. Nick Stonehaven and Luisa Alvarez set the bar so high that I didn’t think anything—especially a friends-to-lovers story (my least favorite trope)—could top it.

And then Millie Perez said, “watch me.”

Because Home Runner was EVERYTHING.

Let me start with Luke. THIS is how you do friends-to-lovers.

None of that “oh wow, I suddenly have feelings for my best friend after years” nonsense. Nope. Not here. My man was gone from day one.

From the moment he met Daisy, it was over for him—and you could feel it in every interaction, every thought, every little thing he did for her. And honestly? That makes the trope so much more believable and satisfying.

And don’t even get me started on:

* The Daisy’s thing 🥹
* THE RECORDING 😭

I was DONE. Absolutely gone. No recovery.

Now Daisy—yes, she’s meant to be a people pleaser, but I loved that she wasn’t weak. From chapter one, she had this quiet strength and fierceness that made her so easy to root for. She wasn’t a doormat, and she held her own in a way that made their dynamic even better.

And the chemistry?
Off the charts. Effortless. Addictive.

This was one of those books where you tell yourself, “just one more chapter”… and suddenly it’s 4 AM and you’ve finished the entire thing with zero regrets.

Also, can we PLEASE talk about the Nick Stonehaven cameos???

Because the way that man is still down horrendous for his wife Luisa???
Calling her wife and asking her how he is feeling about Luke and his sister’s relationship.

Sir, stand up—actually no, don’t. Stay exactly like this.
God, I love that man.

This book completely surprised me, completely hooked me, and completely won me over.

And now I am SO ready for Ace and Valentina’s book.

Thank you to Millie Perez for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Home Runner follows Daisy Stonehaven, the marketing gal for the Monarchs baseball team, and Luke Weston, the team coach! Daisy is a runaway bride, and who's driving her getaway car? None other than Coach Luke Weston. Toeing the line between friendship and more is a struggle for both sides as the tension sizzles between them, and feelings grow stronger.

I was immediately hooked to Daisy and Luke's storyline from the previous book in the Monarch's series! Luke's attention and patience with Daisy is so wholesome in both books, which I absolutely loved. I wished we got to know more about him personally, but I ate up all the material we got regardless! Daisy is a chronic people pleaser (I get her!!!!), and she slowly unlearns that by Luke's side :,) I loved how these two helped each other flourish and get out of a dark patch.

My one criticism is that I wish there was more build up before the 50% mark! I think if the book gave us flashbacks of how Luke fell in love with Daisy, I'd be able to connect to their romance more! On Daisy's side, I believe after a whole failed wedding, she needed just a little more time to process it all before jumping into another relationship.

Nonetheless, this was super wholesome! These two are absolute saps, and I loved them! If you love a good yearning MMC, a retired people pleaser, and no third act breakup, this one's for you! <3

The way Luke made me blush so many times should honestly be illegal 😅The things that came out of his mouth had me with my jaw on the floor, clutching my pearls🥵 I loved the way he loved on Daisy it was literally top tier. He really took care of her, fed her, bought her panties, comfy clothes, and truly cherished her like there was no tomorrow! And pleaseeee… a moment for those audio recordings 😭 I was deep in my feelings!!! We all deserve a Luke 💖 As a Latina girly I also really loved the Latin representation, from Aventura to Bad Bunny to the chisme and everything in between. It felt like HOME and so comforting. The character dynamics and found family were a favorite too. And when Valentina and Ace got introduced??? I was literally screaming. The tension was insane, and I can’t wait to read their story 🤭

P.S The office scene was HOT 🔥

5 MILLION STARS. Any time Millie writes about the Dominican Republic or just DR things in general, it reads like a love letter to her culture. It has such a warm and comforting vibe. She also made me hate men even more because men like Luke Weston don’t exist. I’m sick to my stomach!!!!!!!!!!! This is the third book in her New York Monarchs baseball romance series and the MMCs just keep getting better and better. LUKE YOU NASTY MAN. Do it again 👀🫦 If I had a nickel every time I blushed…He is just the perfect man for Daisy, I could cry. He really showed up for her time and time again (no spoilers, sorry. If I cried, you’re gonna cry too!). There are just so many beautiful moments and grand gestures from finding out the origin of her name, Luke making her feel safe and making sure she always had a place to call home, THE FLOWERS, constantly reassuring her and being transparent with her, knowing her exact fast food order THAT’S intimacy. This book had me kicking my feet and screaming down to the very end where my favorite trope is a secret surprise.

Luke is so obsessed with Daisy, and I loved it! I really love Millie’s writing, and the way she lays out her storylines, Luke and Daisy were a fast burn, but you remain engaged because of everything else going on around them! I loved watching Daisy grow into herself and become the strong, fierce, independent woman everyone knew she could be. And I loved how well her and Luke understood each other. It was a really beautiful story, and I’m sad it’s over!

The way this man is in LOVE!!!! And his filthy mouth omg I loved him! He was everything and so much more! What I loved about her is she really grew up and learned to say what SHE wanted, with the help of the hottest, sweetest man there is who was determined to get her to speak up for herself and I loved that!!!! But all I’m going to say is the office scene!!!! Will FOREVER live in my mind!!!! I absolutely loved their story and this series!

I loved Daisy and Luke bad 🥹🥹

A best friends to lovers story is always so sweet but the fact the spice started right of the rip was so fun hahah the first half of this book was smut and im not mad because if you read the first few books in this series this has been coming for a long time. Daisy is supposed to marry the man who has it all but decides the day of her wedding that’s probably a mistake. So who better to drive the getaway car to his secluded cabin than her bff Luke.

The sweet soft lover moments in this story absolutely had me swooning but Daisy and Luke’s individual stories and growth quite literally had me sobbing.

4.25 stars because I did hit a lull for a second in the middle but still loved it!! I quite literally cannot wait for Val and Aces story!!! The last surprise chapter had my jaw on the floor.

Thank you the author, Millie Perez for my special ARC 💕

Out on 03.26.26

Giving this book all the stars in the world. Luke Weston & Daisy Stonehaven were so much fun to finally read about! Daisy is our runaway bride while Luke drove the gateway car.

Their friendship started in the last book, Fair Trade. Friends to lovers yet, I felt the tension between them even in the last book. Luke got a head start with the years of yearning but the close proximity only caused this man to put himself out there. I think Luke Weston may be the most straight forward man I’ve ever read about. They moved really fast! Do I think Daisy needed more time to process after a failed wedding? Kinda. But I truly believe their friendship was the foundation to their relationship. The communication between the two was strong and all their moments together were so incredibly sweet. No third act break up should be another reason why YOU read this book!

I mean, the man also planted daisies along his driveway. One for every time she crossed his mind. I SWOON.

ARC REVIEW ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thank you so much to @millieperezauthor for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I absolutely loved this story 🌸💕⚾️

Daisy’s journey was beautiful to witness. Watching her embrace her curls, her Dominican heritage, and finally stand up to her toxic father was powerful. As a recovering people pleaser, seeing her realize she is allowed to want more and be loved fully truly hit home. She wasn’t just falling in love with Luke; she was finding herself.

And Luke? He did NOT play about her.

Grumpy to everyone else. Soft, patient, and intentional with her. He let her grow without trying to control the process. He loved her both loudly and privately. He paid attention to every detail, and nothing was too small for him to remember.

Honestly, this is one of those books that makes you want to step into its world for a little while. Just long enough to get a proper look at that perfect man, admire him from head to toe, and then give the heroine a hug… because let’s be honest, that woman is the luckiest woman alive.

What an absolutely incredible book. I feel so lucky and truly blessed to have had the chance to read an advanced copy of this story. It was so hot, so romantic, so powerful… just absolutely everything.

And Luke… well, Luke is seriously fighting for a spot on my top 10 list of the best sports romance heroes I’ve ever read. No question.

Gracias Millie 😭

I have been consistently impressed with this series. This was outstanding on every single thing. This book literally had it all. It was such an amazing story full of yearning, chemistry, and so much love. I have been excited for Daisy and Luke's story from book one when they are introduced. I loved that while reading the first two books you get little snippets of their friendship before you get to their own book. I felt like this story flowed so perfectly and it had me wanting to pick it up and figure out what would happen next every second of the day. I was so invested in this story and kept coming back for more. Daisy and Luke had such a beautiful love story and I love that it was also backed with such a strong friendship even prior to them getting together. I loved the runaway bride trope in this and felt like it made the story even more exciting.

I loved getting to watch Daisy become stronger and more confident throughout the story. Being such a people pleaser you could see how she sometimes wanted to revert back to her old ways but chose to start doing what she wants for herself instead. She ended up being a really strong FMC that I really enjoyed. I liked that she was finally taking what she wanted for once in life. I also really love how much she cared for Luke and how there are relationship developed. She was so sweet and bright it's hard not to love her. I really feel like her character development in this story was done impeccably well and I'm so glad that I loved her so much in this story.

Lucas the definition of if he wanted to he would. He was so down bad and in love with Daisy even before she ever realized how much she loved him. He was YEARNING for her from the day he met her. I loved all of the secret little things he had been doing the whole time he knew Daisy. It was so clear he was absolutely in love with her from the start and knew that she was the one the entire time. When he was the one to help her run from her wedding it made me so excited from the very beginning because I could just feel how much he loved and cared about her through the pages. He would always make sure Daisy was happy and tried to lift her up instead of bringing her down like some of the other men in her life. I could just feel the raging amount of love and chemistry within this book and I truly feel like these characters were so perfect for each other.

The spices in this book was outstanding. I was so happy to see one of my favorite microtropes of all time (aka when the MMC comes in his pants) in this. As soon as I see that in a book it automatically skyrockets my star rating on it. Not only that but I loved that Luke was so dirty and gave Daisy everything she wanted and needed. The spicy scenes in this book were definitely super hot and gave me everything I needed. The insane chemistry that these characters had definitely added to it and made it even better.

This series has blown me away. After reading Fair Trade and falling instantly in love with it, then going on to read Strikeout later on (yeah I'm aware I read it a little backwards😂) and then waiting for this one to come out had me anticipating this for a long time. I'm so glad this story lived up to my expectations because after being haunted with the idea of Luke and Daisy story in the other two books I'm so glad that this gave everything it needed to and more. I have been insanely impressed with this author and how she makes all of her characters so lovable and her stories so thoughtful, entertaining, and exciting to read. I honestly expected this book to be the last one in this series but I'm excited to see that we will be getting at least one more book. I'm so excited for what is coming next to this series because I know that it is going to exceed my expectations.

“Being away from you is hard. Talking about my past is painful. But loving you? It’s the easiest thing I’ve ever had the privilege of doing."

Ahh I just knew I was going to love this. Millie simply does not miss with this series!! Strikeout holds such a special place in my heart, but Home Runner came very close to taking the number one spot. I loved every minute of this book. Daisy and Luke deserved all of the happiness they got!!

If you've read this series, then you knowwww Daisy and Luke's story was inevitable. Luke's longing for Daisy was present from the moment we met him. I'm so glad he was the one to save Daisy on her wedding day and whip her away to his safe place. I was not expecting to get a full glimpse into the week they had at his cabin but oh my god, those were some of my favorite moments of the book. The tension!! The love and care between them!! The way they each considered the other their best friend was beautiful, even more so when we got to see how their strong connection provided the perfect foundation for their romance. I think it would be easy to say that they moved too fast and this was "insta love" but you would be sorely mistaken. Their romance was a slow burn that happened over more than just this book - I think their love was always kind of dormant and was finally allowed to blossom once Daisy was free of Damien.

Daisy's emotional growth in this and her character development was everything!! I was so damn proud of the way she found her voice and learned to speak up for herself. As a fellow people pleaser myself, I completely understood her need to make everything more convenience for everyone else above her own needs, but I love the way she took the reins and put herself first for once. Even more than that, I loved the way Luke helped foster that confidence in her. We love to see it!!

LUKE!! Ugh this man. His acts of service and devotion to Daisy cannot be matched. It is not enough to say he loved her, he worshipped the very ground she walked on. His love for her was clear in all of the little and big ways from the very moment he met her. It killed me to learn about his tragic past and the way the guilt heavily weighed on him, but I'm glad that he put an effort to work through it for himself and for Daisy. Luke was so down bad for her in the most endearing way and I will be thinking about him for a long time!!

One of my favorite parts about this: the communication between Daisy and Luke!! I think this very easily could have gone awry, but I loved the way they each encouraged the other to communicate and be honest in situations where their initial instincts would be to hide. It was honestly refreshing and I appreciated how it allowed for other aspects of the story to develop instead of focusing on them not communicating.

The idea of found family in this was also one of the most special parts about it. It made me so emotional and I loved how family, however that looks, was incorporated into the story. I won't say too much as to not spoil some of it, but it was really beautiful.

Also... the crumbs we got for another couple?? The surprise chapter? I'm sat.

Highly recommend starting this series if you haven't already. There is so much heart in these books and the most perfect characters. 10/10.

It NEEDS to be studied, genuinely, what crack Millie has laced in this series, because every single one has been DEVOURED!!!! Honestly, when I think I couldn't be more obsessed with a couple in the series, Millie pulls it out the bag and presents another banger!!

13% in and I was losing my composure lmao, my head was hot because what do you mean Luke saw Daisy in just a thong and garter, WHICH HE THEN PROCEEDED TO RIP FROM HER BODY AND BURN IT LMAOOOO

LUKE "kneel at Daisy's alter" WESTON the man that you are, my god, it's been a hot minute where I've been left speechless and staring at a wall over a man lmaooo.

Luke was so down bad and literally worshiped the ground Daisy walked on, they way he showed up for her, how he wanted for her to find herself and was just able to be along for the ride. The ending, all their little nods, number seven, the field of daisies, 7 DAISY LANE, my heart could actually combust from how perfect these two were for each other.

Daisy and Luke were inevitable, if the teasers from the first two books were anything to go by and it's really true what they say about the quiet ones because these two had me blushing and everythingggg, HELLO, Mrs Perez, we need to talk?!!

Millie did not come to play with these two because the spice in this was sensational, you could hear me screaminggg from across the pond. I haven't read a bj scene that filthy, it will LIVE RENT FREEEEEE in my head for the end of time. I wasn't even the one gagged, and I was GAGGED!!!

Like I'll never think of Luke and Daisy without thinking about that office scene, my god, whatever you want Coach “I want you to keep it in your mouth and show it to me like a good girl” Weston ITS YOURS!!! and then he spat in her mouth?!! istg, I’m gonna levitate 😩🥵

I loved how Daisy was able to find herself, her voice and stand up for herself, I was rooting for every step of the way!! And those moments that Daisy and Nick got to experience with their mother's friends, god, they were so precious.

The found family in this is one of my favourite things, too in this series, from the Stonehaven siblings, all the other couples; Mateo and Isabella, Lusia and Nick and the Monarch team, you really get the warm sense of family, and ugh, I just love it.

And Lord, don't even get me started on the teasers for the next couple, and hello, that first chapter?! I’m SOOO GIDDY FOR THEM, god, I can just tell I'm gonna be obsessed!! 🩵🩵
