So much fun! I loved all the movie & Bible references throughout the story. Tate embodied Emilia Clarke in Me Before You which I adored. And what's a romcom without a grumpy cowboy love interest? ❤️
For the Record by Kipper J. Lane blends romance, friendship, and family with a fun music-competition storyline that delivers heartwarming moments alongside thoughtful twists and conflicted emotions that feel deeply human and relatable. As a new mom, the subtle nods to motherhood especially warmed my heart and felt like a gentle reminder that even in life’s chaos, there is beauty, growth, forgiveness, and connection. This book goes beyond a simple girl-meets-boy love story (which I also enjoyed) and ultimately honors the work of healing, showing how growth and wholeness—guided by faith and a good therapist—prepare us for deeper connection.
- First Person, Dual POV - Christian Fiction/Romance - kisses only romance
For the Record was my second book by Kipper J. Lane (loved both!) She does such a beautiful job of telling interesting stories full of humor, love, and sweet moments, while still holding to her faith. A faith that shows through into her writing in wonderful ways.
This one is a contemporary Romance that hits on so many struggles that follow us through our everyday lives. The characters are imperfect (in a perfect kind of way) and share many of the same doubts and troubles that many of us do as well. Even though the majority of us won't ever go through a singing competition or be in a reality show, the characters are still so relatable and real. They have real life hopes, dreams, worries, and pains. All of that lead to so much wonderful character and spiritual growth.
I also loved how Tate was genuinely herself. She didn't care what others said or thought about her looks, unique clothing, or who she was at her core. That being said, I think I need some character art of the outfit that made her look "like a kaleidoscope".
This book was full of humor and heart and so much more. I couldn't get enough of it and definitely recommend checking it out.
I received an advanced review copy of this book. This review is my honest opinion and thoughts
