Before the second world war started there were people in Britain who were already preparing for it. They worked with the idea it would be when not if and that at some point it would be inevitable and the likelihood that Britain wouldn't be ready. During that time there were many clandestine groups and secret operations taking place. Many of these stories will never be known. What happened remained secret and the men and women who played the dangerous games took their secret pasts with them to the grave. This story is about one small group playing their part as so many others did at the same time.
We have done the best we could in trying to tell this amazing story.
Two authors, four writers, five translators, three researchers, countless interviews and three years in the writing. Based on known facts a story in many ways so preposterous it couldn't have been made up. Names have been changed to protect the innocent and the descendants of the guilty. Some dialogue has been added to keep the story moving when the actual words were not available. As just about everyone who fought ion the second world war is no longer with us the authors added some others who were known to be there but names and accurate descriptions were not available to us.
