This is a poetry book all about cats. The poems are fun, short, and engaging for kids. Each poem has an illustration to go with it. I use to read this book all the time in the 4th grade because of its simplicity and humor.

Cat Power! is a book of poetry that is intended for primary readers. This book is composed of many different poems about cats. The poems are about different cats in different areas of the world. For instance there is a poem about an alley cat and a poem about a cat hunting a mouse.
I rated this book three stars because although the poems were well written they didn't really hold my attention. The characters in this book are of course mostly cats of all different breeds and they don't speak and don't have lines. The plot is constantly changing which did keep my attention. The illustrations in the book are big and full of color. They are also drawn with great detail. You can see individual hairs on the cat's body's. Children who like cats would find this book more appealing than children who don't like cats or who find little interest in cats. Poems about cats can get a little old after the first five that you read. The rhymes in this book were however fun to read

This collection of lyrics to cat songs/poems comes with a CD which I didn't listen to. However, I enjoyed the poems, and firmly believe in "cat power". I completely relate to the poem "The Vet"--a very familiar scenario. The litter box poems should be printed on every bag of cat litter. The cat behavior exhibited in "Rub-a-Rub-Rub" happens to me every feeding time. And I wish my cats would make "toast" out of their scratching post rather than my rugs and upholstery. "I Want to Go Out!" is a scene familiar to every cat owner. That's why I have a cat flap! But it's worth it all when you hear them "Purrrrrr". What can you do? They're too cute. Great poems, greap book.

This book is excellent for teaching poetry to primary aged children. The poems in the book are about cats that are from different parts of the world. The illustrations in the book make the cats feel like they are bigger than life.

Very cute especially if you like cats and the illustrations are fantastic. Have not listened to the CD yet.

Definitely a book for younger readers. I enjoyed the poems more than the CD. The CD is the poetry turned into "songs". I wouldn't pay extra to have the poems sung to me. Very monotonous.
