Ansel and Sean Brandt are brothers, born on the same day ten years apart. It could be coincidence, or it might be that Ansel was supposed to die as a child so that Sean could receive his immortal soul. Ridiculous? The so-called Grim Reaper doesn’t think so, and he tells Ansel as much in a personal visit, when he explains that Ansel’s adult life was made possible by a clerical error on the Other Side. But now Ansel wants to know why. Why was he slated to die? And why was his own brother supposed to get his soul? And why is a suspended deathclerk now crashing on his couch, watching movies all day instead of helping Ansel?

Threeincarnated tackles all the big life, death, morality, immortality, bookkeeping, parenthood, childhood, sibling rivalry, religion, past life regression, marital infidelity, and the ineffable appeal of paisley.

Threeincarnated is a beautiful balance of well-developed characters and a suspenseful plot. Brozik’s witty writing style makes for a deceptively fun and easy read, while he subtly tackles major philosophical questions. Highly recommend this supernatural mystery novel!

If Good Omens and On a Pale Horse had a heretofore unknown brother, he might look a lot like Three Incarnated. Brozik’s wit and love of puzzles make this romp with the mechanics of death and souls into a thoroughly enjoyable exploration of what would you do if the Dead Reaper paid you a visit.
