Devon Coal: The Count of West Marshall

Rate this book
With the war over, Devon is looking forward to getting back to living his life, but after his mother's disappearance, the king has other plans. As the only child of the countess, Devon takes up the role his mother vacated as the Count of West Marshall!

While nobles plot and Vivian shares cryptic warnings, Devon sets off to take control of his county. Join Devon as he delves into his new responsibilities as a lord, investigates the mysterious tablet his mother gave him, and embarks on another epic adventure with his wife!

Content Light swearing, violence (mild).
Author This novel is just over 100,000 words. Quite a bit longer than the previous books in the series. (No part of this, or any of my other stories, was written using AI; only my covers were created using AI.)

A good read between better stories

This series is good. However it does not meet it's potential. While it is well written it does require a bit of editing. The characters are solid but a bit pedantic. There was also a lack of depth. This was more like reading about distant colleagues than reading about friends. I did not feel a need to continue reading but also was not inclined to stop reading. You won't lose or gain much by reading this or by skipping it.

not worth it

The writer was tossing ideas at the plot and just left so many plot holes. He started a topic only to abandon it. This is the second series by this author to suffer from this. He is organized when he began the series, only to let it die horribly for the reader

Loved this trilogy

At first the story line seemed a little slow. But as the story developed I become more engaged and loved the progression. Highly recommended. Eagerly looking for more books by this author.

Great Read

This story was very entertaining and kept me engaged. It seems like it might be a sequel but was easy to read without the prior book if so. There are a number of typos but it is not terribly distracting.
My thanks to the author for sharing their work.

The series has steadily improved over the three books and in the end became a decent read.
If possible I would have given 3.5 stars, but it’s a new year and I’m feeling generous so I have increased this to four.

The entire series needs to be edited with more than spell check. Even an A.I. editor would catch wrong names, missing and misused words and phrases. Other than glaring faults, the story line isn't bad, just predictable.

Holy Grammar Errors!

Author needs to hire 2 editors, 15 proofreaders, and a partridge in a pear tree.

That aside, the story feels rushed and could definitely be improved. A suitable enough conclusion to the series, but… eh.

Good, but fell off a little.

Still a good story, but I felt like everything had already been said. All that was left was tying up loose ends, so the Author tried to stretch too little story into a whole book. But it was still a good end to the series.

Great read

This is the 3rd book but best of all it’s the last book. I enjoyed the trilogy and really appreciate not making it a series with no end. Maybe we will read about DEC in the future.

Different challenges

First, I think there’s definitely another book in this series or even another series completely about this ancient ancestor. In this book there were so many new and different types of challenges and surprises. Fun read

The Best

For a 3 part story it was great. It built the story line perfect. I enjoyed the books . .
