I ran from the altar and straight into a one-night stand with a possessive silver fox billionaire. Monday morning, I realize the stranger is my new boss.
Griffin Calloway doesn't just want an assistant. He needs a fake wife to secure his partnership. He slides a contract across the Five million dollars. Three years. Strictly business. Except for one non-negotiable The Wife Clause.
To keep up appearances, we must share a bed every single night.
I sign it because I am desperate. I didn't plan on my body betraying me every time he touches me. And I certainly didn't plan on the morning-after pill failing.
Now I’m trapped in a fake marriage, sleeping next to the enemy, and hiding a secret that breaks every
I’m pregnant with my fake husband’s real baby. And when he finds out, the contract is going to be the least of my problems.
I DNF'd early when they both started giving his dick a pronoun. This author seems to be a disappointing mix of great ideas and poor execution - based on the two books I checked out. The writing is the textual equivalent of bad porn - in dialogue and story development. For instance, the innocent from Iowa notices his erection and asks him solicitously if he needs to go take care of that in the bathroom. Presumably, she was going to wait for him to come back and resume their conversation.
And this: "You’re the most beautiful woman here, and you’re delightful. Neither of us was expecting to meet anyone like you tonight.” They are alone in this conversation - him and her.
Anyway - You can take this as indicative of the remainder: his dick is seriously, not sarcastically referred to as "him" several times by both of them upon their first meeting and "he" needs custom fit condoms. I'm not finding fault with the meet-cute being her wandering into his sex club unawares, even though it's a "private members only club" that she just walked into off the street after flashing an ID to a bouncer, because I've read better books with crazier premises. But I will deduct points for sending this guy to a sex club for the sole purpose of getting laid, and making him a billionaire, commitment phobic lawyer who wrote the contract for the club, and then having him forget to bring his own big boy rubbers because the club only carries Small - Medium, for some reason. If I had to describe this writing style, it would be like if a 15-year-old virgin learned about sex and also romance writing from Literotica and then published it with great cover models.
I hope she gets better, there's enough promise in the plot ideas that I want these books to be good. But currently, they are unreadable.
This was the first book I’ve read by J.S. Kingsley, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It tells the story of Selena Thompson, a runaway bride from Iowa who discovered her fiancé had cheated on her the day of their wedding. Taking half of her honeymoon fund, she headed to New York, found a small condo, and decided to explore the city. One night, she wandered into a club down the street, unaware it was a BDSM club. There, she met Griffin Calloway, a lawyer and firm partner looking to start his own company. The two shared instant chemistry that night, though Selena can’t stand the lawyer version of Griffin. Still, after he discovers she’s temping at his company, they somehow form a relationship. I really liked these two characters, though I wish there had been more—like seeing them at their next wedding or watching Griffin with his baby and wife visiting her family. It was a great story, and now I need to go back and read Beckett and Scarlett’s story, as well as Marcel’s, from the rest of the Chester Street Billionaires. I highly recommend it.
This is the second book I’ve read from this author and it was slightly better than the first. The MMC was intended to be a “touch her and you’re dead” guy but at times he spoke like a grandpa. It was weird. He also had massive shifts in personality that made no sense.
There’s a whole new element that comes in near the end and felt weird and rushed.
Also, if an author is going to introduce medical elements, at least look them up. It’s so lazy to use a made up term. Also, if someone is shot in their carotid artery, they aren’t going to live for days before getting help. Small but super annoying thing.
Book 3 of The Chester Street Billionaires series. Can be read as a standalone but for maximum enjoyment read the books in series order.
The characters carried the story and they were very compelling and complex and complicated and perfectly steamy together. Plot was intriguing and well paced. World building continues to excel and impress. All in all a great addition to the series. Enjoyed immensely and highly recommend.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second romance book I have read by J.S. and it is just as magnificent as the first book I read. I loved Selena and Griffin and how she weaves these two characters together. The romance, chemistry and everything in between is AMAZING. Loved the sexy hunk on the cover and the storyline is a perfect 10.
Good, spicy story. Characters were likeable even when Griffin was a jerk. Age gap of 48 to 25. It wasn't that noticeable and wasn't used in the story as a problem. Some of the problems were a little over the top. Spoiler that when her ex came back acting crazy made me roll my eyes. Not believable. But a good fast read.
Thoroughly enjoyed this novel and the contact with previously read Chester Street Characters. I know I will reread this very soon. Recommended .... Very recommended !
