Oakley has been my best friend since we were eight. We live together, work together, and our lives are completely intertwined. His past girlfriends never understood how close we are, but Oak says the right girl wouldn't be threatened.
I'm not so sure.
Now we're both dating a pair of best friends who seem to get it. The four of us click instantly, and for once, everything feels… easy.
But then a dare leads to a kiss, and suddenly, nothing feels easy at all.
Oakley
Dating best friends? Genius idea. Parker and I finally found girls who don't question how inseparable we are. I thought I'd found the one, until a silly game flipped everything on its head.
Because when I kissed Parker, it didn't feel like a joke. It felt like something I've been waiting for without even realizing it.
Now I'm questioning everything… my feelings, my past, and most of all, what Parker really means to me.
Maybe the person I've been searching for has been by my side all along.
Book two in the Chicago Awakening Series, this stand-alone, best friends-to-lovers romance will follow Oakley and Parker.
Lexi is an American author who is obsessed with queer happily ever afters. Most of her time is spent with her two kids, but if they’re asleep then she is either reading, writing, or watching hockey.
Professionally trained as a nurse, Lexi decided to start writing when she became a stay at home mom and the characters in her head haven’t stopped talking since.
Lexi also loves Diet Coke, traveling, and Halloween. Her house is probably obnoxiously decorated for whatever holiday is next because she thinks that little things that make people smile are important.
You can find her attempting to stay up to date with all social media under the name Lexi Amber.

Oh, how cute Oakley and Parker are! Their friendship is one of the sweetest I've ever read. The way Oakley takes care of Parker, protects him. The way Parker is always there for Oakley, unwavering.
This is truly a story of idiots-to-lovers. Usually, the FTL trope shows a one-sided crush with an oblivious friend, or both liking each other, but not having the courage to admit it. In this one, neither of them really knows. I loved that they found out at the exact same time. I loved that the pining came just after, and they did that together too, just like they did everything else.
These two are true soulmates. As much as I did wanna shake Parker a few times for creating problems that would be so easily talked out, I'm glad that didn't linger. That's one aspect of Lexi's writing I like: the conflict hurts less than I expect, and is more easily solved too. It's an amazing break from high-angsty romances.
The narrators did an amazing job with the guys too. I liked them even more here than on the first book.
I definitely recommend this story if you're looking for a low-angst friends/idiots-to-lovers with lots of steam and sweetness. Be prepared to swoon over two people who are the epitome of what it means to be each other's person ❤️
