The book is about the generational moral corruption that is carried on from parents to children during their childhood and about the choices these children make as grown-ups to cements their paths in life towards being soulless copies of their parents.

It's emotionally quite hard to read, Molyneux bombards you with the bleak reality of abused and neglected children growing up to be broken adults and offers only a glimmer of hope for a resolution in the end. He forces you to evaluate your own life in ways you probably haven't done before.

Great modern masterpiece of a novel, 5/5.
