He’s Hollywood’s golden boy. She’s determined to stay invisible. When their lives—and their secrets—collide, neither is ready for what comes next.
After years of living for the cameras, Derek Riley needs an escape. Training for a movie role on a remote river sounds perfect, until his whitewater guide, Donovan, treats him like he’s just another tourist. For the first time in his career, Derek doesn’t know his lines…or how to uncover the person beneath Donovan’s armor.
Donovan left her old life behind for good reason, but Derek’s kindness and warmth make him far too easy to fall for, even if he threatens the careful walls she’s built. Letting him in means facing a past she swore to forget, but she can’t help but be drawn to the flawed man beneath the perfect veneer.
When the tabloids close in and old wounds resurface on both sides, Derek and Donovan have to choose between the safety of silence and the risk of something real. Because sometimes, love is the most dangerous truth of all.
Wonderstruck is a closed door celebrity romance that’s a standalone story with character connections to the other books in the series. Full of witty banter, mutual respect, and sizzling chemistry, it’s perfect for fans of protective heroes, confident women, and love that heals.
Yessssssss!!!!! Derek Riley's story is finally here! Oh my word!!! It was so exciting and answered so many questions from the whole series. Plus we get to see all of the characters from the series who feel like they're not only Derek's close friends, but all of us readers' as well! As sad as I am to say goodbye to this series, I have honestly loved every moment spent reading about each of these characters. And my favorite part is that we got to see them all throughout the whole series and that just kept building our love of them and their friendships!
Friends are so important and give us strength and the ability to keep moving forward when life is hard!
You're all going to love Donovan soooo much! She and Derek don't quite see eye to eye. Like for quite a while! Hahaha! And it was deliciously perfect! You're going to love the reveals with her own secrets and reasons. But Derek is just such a wonderful character and a true friend that wants to help everyone he meets and knows. He's genuine and truly caring. So of course Donovan's walls are going to come down, it's just a matter of time! And those walls coming down are very worth waiting for!!! I was there for it all!!!
The setting was so amazing and the way it was described had me feeling like I was there on the adventure with all of these characters. Donovan is a perfect match for Derek and vice versa!
I keep finishing series and am sad about that, but as I've said in other reviews recently with series that I've finished, I'm so glad that we can go back and revisit the whole series, or pick and choose which book we read. This is definitely a favorite series of mine! Loved every moment of it! I hope that if you read it (which I recommend reading all of them in order) you love them as well!!!
Content: Clean. Some talk of childhood trauma from abandonment by parent, talk of perfectionism and some panic attacks. Some sweet kisses. The characters share a hotel room at one point but nothing happens but them literally sleeping.
I received a copy from the author through BookSirens. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
“Good luck to anyone who thinks they can go up against Derek Riley and win.”
If you’ve been reading this series, you already know Derek is the glue—the steady presence holding this famous friend group together. Wonderstruck finally gives him his story, and I loved getting to see the why behind the man everyone else leans on.
Derek Riley may be Hollywood’s golden boy, but away from the cameras, he’s searching for something quieter and more real. Enter Donovan—his no-nonsense whitewater rafting guide who wants nothing to do with fame, spotlight, or carefully curated personas. Their dynamic is compelling from the start: grounded vs. glamorous, guarded vs. openhearted, past wounds colliding with present hope.
There is so much to admire here.
I loved the behind-the-scenes look at Hot Scoop and finally understanding where that all began. I loved seeing Derek’s growth—his warmth, his loyalty, and the way he shows up for the people he loves. Donovan’s backstory is deeply emotional, and watching her story unfold as a redemption arc was genuinely moving. The friend group remains a highlight (as always), and the river raft crew brought humor and heart. I could easily see Maverick spinning off into a breakout story of his own.
That said, this book ultimately fell outside my personal comfort zone for what I share on this platform.
While nothing explicit happens on the page, there is a heavier emphasis on romantic intimacy than I’m comfortable recommending here, including prolonged makeout scenes, innuendo, and an insinuation from a side character that intimacy has occurred before marriage. There were also frequent mentions of cursing (without explicit language), several biblical swears, and one crude term. None of this negates the quality of the writing or the emotional depth of the story—it simply means it isn’t the right fit for my audience.
If this hadn’t crossed those boundaries for me, I would have absolutely loved it.
For readers who enjoy celebrity romance, strong emotional arcs, witty banter, and love stories rooted in healing and growth, Wonderstruck will likely resonate deeply. Dana Lecheminant continues to write layered characters and meaningful connections, and Derek’s story will be especially satisfying for longtime fans of the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Content / Trigger Notes: parent guilt placed on a child, mention of infidelity (not involving main characters), themes of pride and fame, approximately 15+ mentions of cursing (without explicit language), several biblical swears, one crude term, romance includes heavy makeout scenes with tongue mentioned, innuendo, and a possible insinuation of intimacy before marriage from a side character.
I was so excited for Derek‘s story and it did not disappoint! I absolutely loved Donovan with her sass and how reluctant to fall she was. The tearing down of walls, the deep connection, the beautiful representation of healthy, strong relationships, so much healing, and some laughs along the way make this a wonderful read.
I would recommend reading this book last as we discover some big secrets about Derek and Hollywood Hot Scoop that are threads throughout all the rest of the stories, but the rest of the series can be read in any order.
Favorite parts: - Meet Cute - Making dinner (the first night) - Learning about the Hopper 🤣 - Looking at constellations - Learning how to row - Detangling her hair - The Slide - Looking at the rapids - Pep talk before the Big Drops - Big drop 3 - Their kiss! - The "scene" - In the hotel lobby - Pops - Mr. Darcy impersonation - Liam's birthday - The Epilogue
I absolutely loved this story! It was so nice to finally get to read Derrick's story and understand more about him. This was such a beautiful ending to a beautiful series.
Derrick and Donovan are perfect for each other. I love how they bring out the best in each other. I was so great seeing Derrick's wall break down as he was on his river trip and with Donovan's help.
I love how supportive and loyal Derrick's friends are - even though he tries so hard to keep them outside of what is really going on.
This is the 5th book in the Starstruck Love Stories series. It can be read as a stand alone, but is best enjoyed having read the previous books in the series first.
Thanks to the author for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
What a fabulous end to this series! I’ve waited for Derek’s story through the other 4 friends’ stories and it did not disappoint! Loved learning what makes him tick and I loved Donovan; she was so fabulous and so great for him.
This book has: Found family Touch of mystery Lots of on page couple time Confident FMC Love that heals
If you‘ve read the series you’ll enjoy a series bonus epilogue as well!
I have loved every book in the Starstruck Love Stories series by Dana LeCheminant and have been excitedly waiting for Derek's story. It did not disappoint!
Derek is one of Hollywood’s top actors. He has a heart of gold and usually seems to have it all together, taking care of his friends and loved ones. Lately though he is tired and feeling all the stress that comes with doing what he loves. When he heads to Utah for a white water rafting trip to prepare for his next role he re-meets Donovan, who is his guide for the tour. Donovan is not looking to date and keeping a few secrets that makes things interesting.
This story was everything I hoped for and more! I loved the first meeting between Donovan and Derek. I loved Donovan’s sass and how she did not hide her dislike for Derek and everything she thought he was. They definitely got off on the wrong foot. I found it so easy to get inside Derek’s head and sympathize with all he was feeling about his fame. He is wonderful and genuine. I found Donovan to be the perfect match for Derek. After getting to know Derek through the series, he needed someone special and Donovan was the one. These two had insane chemistry and showed a healthy relationship with good communication. At one point I thought I knew how the story would go but it took a different direction and was full of wonderful surprises. I was totally immersed into this story. I felt like I was on a journey with these two and could see everything so vividly. It was definitely the story Derek deserved and a perfect ending to the series.
If you are reading this series make sure you read this book last as it puts together some pieces from the other books in this series. I highly recommend you read them all. This celebrity friend group is so real and fun!
Content Awareness - panic attacks, absent parents in the past
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Like a lot of other lovers of this series, I've been wanting Derek's story since the first book, Moonstruck, but nothing in the previous books prepared me for the story of how Derek Riley became Mr. Practically-perfect-in-every-way.
Derek is used to being seen and recognized, but not truly known; even his close-knit group of friends don't really know his secrets. Craving distance from the spotlight, he heads to a remote Utah river to prepare for a role as a whitewater rafter, but he is not prepared for Donovan.
Oh Donovan! The highly skilled and confident whitewater guide, who's a bit guarded and completely unimpressed by Derek. She's the rare person who doesn't care about his celebrity status and doesn't hide it; she treats him like just another guy with a helmet and a paddle.
I didn't like how Donovan came across at first, but once I learned her background I understood her better. I loved how she got Derek to open up and learn that he doesn’t have to be perfect to be worthy of love. One of the things I loved about this book is that it didn't feel rushed; just two people getting closer, figuring themselves out as the walls they'd built to protect themselves begin to come down. "Love isn't being with someone in spite of their flaws. It's seeing each trait not as good or bad but simply as a part of what makes them who they are."
This is a great ending to a fantastic series! Derek and Donovan have great chemistry and are perfect for each other. Parts of Derek's story broke my heart, but I loved seeing all his friends be there for him. To me, this group is more found family than friends. Oh, and I loved finding out who was behind the Hollywood Hot Scoop articles. Color me shocked!!
I received a complimentary copy. All opinions in this review are my own.
Content: mild swearing, innuendo, and some passionate kisses
I have loved this series so much. It is truly one of my top favorites of all time. Finally getting to read Derek's story was amazing. I loved that we finally got to see who he really was behind the perfect persona.
Derek was wildly successful and the top leading man of Hollywood, yet he had some big struggles and emotional scarring that he had been carrying for almost his entire life. For the past couple of years, his personal struggles were getting worse and he wasn't sure how he was going to overcome them.
Then he met Donovan. She had some big walls up and resisted Derek as much as she could. Yet, she began to fall for the man he really was, not the big screen icon that everyone else saw. It was so fun to learn all about Donovan's past and watch as she bravely faced things she had been running from. These two were definitely perfect for each other.
I adored this story from start to finish. This is a series that I will definitely be rereading.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, but I also purchased a print copy. All opinions are my own.
Finally we get Derek’s story and it did not disappoint! He’s always been a bit mysterious and so many questions were answered. I loved finally seeing behind this “perfect” guy and understanding him better. He is genuinely such a nice guy and was so sweet. Donovan was perfect for him. I couldn’t ask for a better ending for the series.
As I read the rest of the series it all seemed to be building up to Derek. What is weighing him down? Who will he confide in? If Bonnie isn’t the girl for him, and she’s amazing, who will be? I’m glad to finally have the answers to these questions and more!
This book was fun with its adventurous setting: river rafting in Moab, UT. I loved Derek and Donavan: the chemistry, the banter. It was perfection! I loved finally getting the scoop on Hollywood Hot Scoop, and seeing Derek’s friends rally around him.
While you could try to read this book alone, it is more enjoyable if you have the full picture from the rest of the series.
I have adored the Starstruck series from the beginning and Derek’s story is debatably my favorite of the Starstruck!
I love how Derek went from the definition of perfection and suspected spy to a real human, just like the rest of us. The journey and struggle of this story were so. good. *chef’s kiss*
Donovan is sassy and don’t you forget it! She knows who she is and where she fits. I savored every moment of how Derek turned Donovan’s world upside down without even trying!
Gah! These two fit together and truly make the other better. Does a better couple exist? You’d be hard pressed to find one!
In all seriousness, Dana did a fabulous job of tackling pretty hard subjects. She kept the light feel of the story without making the struggles feel like less. There is meat without getting “bogged down” in the hard.
Read this book if you like: ⛰️ Nature ⛰️ NDAs ⛰️ Tabloid Trouble ⛰️ Oars ⛰️ Protective Friends ⛰️ River Rafting ⛰️ Acting ⛰️ Reunions ⛰️ Disability Rep
Content: mild panic attacks, memories of childhood trauma and parental absenteeism (beautifully handled), strained parental relationship, very mild swearing, mild innuendo, romance- kisses only.
Thank you to Dana LeCheminant for the gifted copy; all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’m so happy to have gotten an ARC opportunity for Derek’s book, and again, Dana didn’t disappoint!
Derek was an intriguing character from the beginning of this series. He kept his issues and emotions to himself, but he fiercely worked to protect his friend group. I always appreciated his role in the other stories. His mysterious persona masked issues with anxiety and perfectionism that are relatable to me and so many others. I loved that Derek didn’t do things halfway and that once he accepted that he loved Donovan, he became the swoony hero. He had doubts and anxieties, but he communicated (green flag man, anyone?) he had them and faced them head-on.
Donovan had her flaws too, but she was so well-matched for Derek. I loved her ability to make him open up, and her strength to help him realize his need to admit his imperfections & ask for help. That was so needed for his partner to bring out in him.
When these two got together, they were a great combination of flirty and serious that balanced out really well. Their physical chemistry was 🔥 and they had some good tension moments that paid off well! Their intense draw toward one another initially was only made stronger by their shared history of dealing with fame. They became better people as they formed a relationship with one another, which is one of the things we should all strive for in whatever kind of relationships we have.
The cameos of the celebrity friends was always fun & I liked getting to see their reactions to Derek finally getting his love story!
In all, this was such an engaging read to end the Starstruck series. I definitely recommend starting from the beginning to understand the shared history of the friend group & Derek’s role in it. I’m excited to see where Dana goes next with some of the characters that were introduced in Awestruck and I’ll continue to be a reader of hers for sure!
Thanks for the ARC, Dana! All thoughts are my own.
CW: This is a closed-door romance with minimal language and makeouts. There’s mention of infidelity, parental abandonment, manipulation, and narcissism, as well as anxiety & perfectionism. There’s mention of a past teenage relationship (15 yo dating 19 yo, but nothing physical happened between them).
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
We finally have Derek Riley’s story! I have really liked getting to see snippets of Derek for years through Dana’s other books and I have been so curious about him.
It was hard for me to watch Donovan being rude to Derek at the beginning of the book but she did grow on me a little as we learned more about her. I was intrigued by who she was and the details of her past.
Derek has been so mysterious throughout the series but he’s really just a normal guy who also happens to be a huge movie star.
We spend over half of the book on a river rafting trip with Derek and Donovan. Because of this it didn’t really feel like a celebrity romance to me, but it was unique. Knowing Dana Lecheminant is an avid river rafter herself, the river trip details gave a really good idea of what it would be like.
I enjoyed the river rafting and there was a lot of story happening after that, but the book felt very long. I wanted to keep reading and find out what would happen, I just think it could have been condensed by one or two hundred pages and still delivered the full story. I also wasn’t as comfortable with the romantic descriptions in this one. It’s definitely closed door, but there was a lot of prolonged and descriptive kissing and a greater focus on their physical relationship than I prefer.
It was fun to see the other Starstruck series friends and find out who was behind the Hollywood Hot Scoop articles. Overall it was well written and fans of the series will enjoy this conclusion.
🔥Romance: Prolonged Make-outs CW: Mild language (Bible swears)
I absolutely loved this book! My only complaint is that life got in the way—I wish I could have read it in one sitting, but I ended up spreading it out over a few days (and staying up way too late to finish it!). Dana has a gift for creating characters that feel real. They aren't perfect, but watching them acknowledge their weaknesses and grow throughout the story was so rewarding. Highly recommend!
Derek has been such a framework guy for the rest of the friendship group that the depth of this story was not only well deserved by the character, but by us readers. We needed his story done fully…and the author delivered.
— A method actor to the core, Derek needs to learn to row a raft through rapids for a future role he wants…he also needs a bit more than a break from the rat race where he lives in Hollywood.
So to Moab, UT he goes. Lol (as an Utah girl…I get this and support this) After encountering a rush of fans in the small town that leaves Derek and his entourage of Hunter and his PA hiding in a Main Street store annoying the shop owner and one very unexpectedly beautiful local…who could not be more annoyed at the interruption is her life. The chemistry between local girl Donovan and Derek goes quickly from minor sparks to flame thrower status…and only gets worse when Derek joins the white water rafting trip is led by none other than…Donovan. 💚
The River changes people. Using the river as a metaphor and a tool, this book gives us character growth, acceptance of vulnerability and emotional maturity, but comedic humor and romantic moments filled with easy chemistry that just flows…like a river…get it.
This book brings back all the best parts of this entire series and is an experience that will have you already planning to read again.
Isn't it fun when the story is MMC focused? I've been waiting for Derek's story, especially after the revelations from the previous book in the series. Derek is struggling, but always has to function as the big brother of his circle of friends. I love that Dana gave us a vulnerable Derek whose walls crumbled down and get rebuilt in this story of found family, healing and friendship.
Enter Donovan who is the perfect complement to Derek, despite her own imperfections. They have a fabulously flirty banter balanced with the weight of seriousness. She understood Derek and shares some similar pain, so they really ended up being so good together.
This was a lovely, feel-good ending to the series. I sighed as it came to a close and feel like Dana really honored the story we were all hoping she would tell for a favorite character. This could be a great standalone, but pairs well when read in order with the previous four stories. I highly recommend!
I received an advanced copy for consideration from the author. All thoughts contained here are my own.
DEREK!!! Wow his story has been long awaited and my word, it was fantastic!
Derek and Donovan. Donovan and Derek. These two are perfection together. They’ve already been through so much as individuals, but when they enter each other’s lives, neither of them is prepared for the absolute shake up that comes.
I’ve loved Derek from the start. The defender, the leader, the Papa Bear. He’s been holding the group together while trying to hold EVERYTHING else. He absolutely shines in this book. This steadfast rock begins to crumble, and when he does, he discovers it’s not the end of the world and it’s ok to ask for help.
Donovan is perfect for him. She’s strong and independent and sassy, but her heart is tender and she understands more than most. She’s the soft place Derek has needed all his life and she brings out the sweetest and swooniest parts of him that melted my heart.
There’s sass, teasing, so much swoon, long needed healing and connection, deepening of friendships, revealing of secrets and much more.
This is an absolutely fantastic end to the journeys of this beloved group of friends.
Thank you to Dana LeCheminant for the copy. All opinions are my own.
This was an amazing read. I was smiling and pulled into it immediately and it never let up. I love the humor woven into this contemporary celebrity romance. I’ve been waiting for Derek’s story for so long and I couldn’t put never have imagined where it would take us. Their meet “why is this idiot actor ruining my day” cute scene was totally amazing. I love how Donovan is a strong heroine who puts him in his place. While Derek is so adorable and such a sweetheart. All of the outdoorsy time with white water rafting was such a unique setting and I loved learning all about things through their adventures. Of course there are secret twists and turns and we got to see the rest of the gang as well. This is my favorite series of LeCheminant’s and I’d love to reread them all. The romance is just kisses, intimacy level 3.
Content: an instance of language
I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
It was so amazing and well written. I loved the way the characters flowed together and complimented each other. The banter, the chemistry, everything was just great.
P.s. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This book was pure perfection in every single way. It ticked every box that I have when I am reading a romance, which made it pleasurable to read.
Derek Riley is Hollywood royalty. I immediately loved him. I could see he was battling some personal demons which, as a public figure, were always on full display for all to see. Sometimes we forget celebrities have feelings and feel pain, just like everyone else, and this was most definitely the case for Derek. This poor guy was suffering in silence, and had been doing so since he was a young child.
Donovan Tate is most at home on the river. She lives a simple life and is perfectly content . She has a past that she has left in her rearview mirror many years ago. She has no desire to be that person again. She is sharp-tongued and opinionated, but underneath all that bluster is a lonely, but contented woman.
Derek and Donovan's first and second meetings consisted of some major fireworks. Donovan is not impressed with Derek, and who he is, though she quietly does not mind admiring his well-toned physique. I giggled a few times reading these scenes, especially when she got caught.
Both characters have some great walls around their hearts and some major hurdles to overcome, but their time together on the river, without the interference of phones, social media, etc., allows them to peel back the layers so each of them can see the real person that is hiding underneath.
There were definitely some funny scenes, some of which were very memorable. But this book is serious a lot of the time, with plenty of drama as both Derek and Donovan's truths come out. There are some real villains in this story that I easily despised, as well as some heroic moments that made me screech with glee.
This author knows how to pull the reader into the story. I felt like I was riding along with them through the rapids, although in reality I would be scared mindless.
This is a long book at right at 500 pages, but it is well worth the time it takes to read it. The length of the book meant I was able to really get to know the characters. There was no rush, and though it was long, it wasn't wordy. Every single word and scene was necessary to complete the story. This one is well deserving of the five star rating and then some.
Thank you to BookSirens and the author for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
"Love isn't being with someone in spite of their flaws. It's seeing each trait not as good or bad but simply as a part of what makes them who they are."
Wonderstruck by Dana LeCheminant
I absolutely ADORED getting Derek and Donovan's story. They are just the cutest couple. From their meet cute and hilarious snarky banter to learning how to row, defending Donovan's honor, and finding out secrets and helping one another overcome difficult things in each other's lives, Derek and Donovan are just the sweetest.
I loved how Donovan is fearless and brave in overcoming her past. I loved how she helps Derek in so many ways change and grow, but he does the changing. She just helps as he wants help.
I don't want to give spoilers about how some things turn out, but I really liked how Dana wraps everything up in the end as we learn who is behind the nefarious Hot Scoop articles. I had no idea.
I love this group of friends so much and have so enjoyed each book in this series. Each can be read as a stand-alone, but I do recommend starting with Liam's story in Moonstruck. I still need to go back and read Awestruck, but you can bet I will be doing that pronto. I definitely recommend Wonderstruck and every single book in this series. It's a definite favorite series of mine!

Agh!!! It’s here! Derek Riley’s book, Wonderstruck, by Dana LeCheminant is out now, and I promise of your reading preferences are anything like mine, you want it!! Derek was introduced back in 2023, and I’m sure I wasn’t alone in being curious about him. Then seeing him throughout the Starstruck Love Stories series have made me sure I had at least a fair idea of who he was, until that façade of perfection starts to crack and we see just how deep and real he is. (Liam might be disappointed… he is NOT a spy, shh.)
Enter Donovan who for her own reasons wants to stay as far away from Derek as she can yet has no choice but to spend a week in close proximity to him? Yeah, the sparks fly. There first interactions are a thing of meet-ugly beauty that just make me happy. All the banter, the push and pull and unwanted zings of attraction…
🎥Does her approval matter in the grand scheme of my life? Not at all. We’re going to be in each other’s lives for barely a week. But her dislike sits dark and heavy in my soul, and I worry that it’s going to fester unless I can help heal Donovan’s own festering wounds. Show her that she can trust me.”
🌊“You did your research,” I mumble as an awful bubble of attraction rises in my chest. There’s something about a man speaking river technical terms that really does it for me, particularly when it’s one who isn’t twenty years old and in between college semesters, but I wish it wasn’t this man checking some big boxes. “I figured you would be a complete idiot.”
But when all the walls and guards are stripped away and hearts are laid bare? It’s a thing of beauty to see what’s hiding inside, just waiting to be known and loved. Just like every book in the Starstruck series, you can expect a happily ever after, but it takes some work and quite the journey to get there. Expect beautiful character growth from Derek and Donovan, sizzling tension, unexpected twists and turns, secret identities, and the surprising revelation and resolution to all the Hot Scoop articles. Go snag your copy today!
I was given a complimentary copy. Thoughts and opinions are my own.
All the love for Wonderstruck! I’ve been eagerly awaiting Derek’s story since the start of this series, & Dana LeCheminant absolutely delivered—this was even better than I imagined.
With Derek’s glamorous friends all having found their person, it’s finally his turn. Enter Donovan: his equal in every way & completely unimpressed by the gorgeous movie star. The swoon, banter, cute nicknames, smoldering looks, & sweet kisses had me flying through the pages.
I adored the Utah setting! As a native Utahn, I loved seeing Moab, Lower Calf Creek Falls, and whitewater rafting featured in the story. Derek’s in Utah prepping for a movie role when he encounters Donovan while hiding from fans. She has an instant dislike of celebrities & is not charmed by his irresistible star power—especially when she learns she’ll be his river guide. But as they spend time together (along with a group brought together by a dating app), Derek’s celebrity persona fades & we finally see the real person behind the perfect facade.
Donovan has secrets of her own, & when Derek uncovers the truth, he’s even more intrigued. They fall hard & fast in the Utah wilderness - but looming tabloid rumors from Hot Scoop threaten everything. As Derek gets closer to figuring out who’s behind the trashy articles, he’s shocked. Can they find happiness despite the obstacles between them?
Loved this story so much! The chemistry between Derek & Donovan sizzled on the page! I loved seeing Donovan’s resistance melt away as she gets to know Derek. Derek’s always the one to help his friends, but never lets anyone in. I enjoyed seeing his vulnerability & walls come down. They’re so perfect together & I loved seeing how they complemented each other. Loved seeing the glam gang again, Pop’s wisdom & ranch, & finally solving the mystery of Hot Scoop!
I’m so sad to see this series end, but this finale was a standout favorite. Don’t miss the bonus epilogue—it wraps everything up beautifully. Highest of recommendations!
I received an advanced copy from the author, but also purchased a copy in Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are completely my own & provided voluntarily.
Wonderstruck (Starstruck Love Stories Book 5) by: Dana LeCheminant @authordanalecheminant
••I give 4 stars!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
~He’s Hollywood’s golden boy. She’s determined to stay invisible. When their lives-and their secrets-collide, neither is ready for what comes next…
-Wonderstruck, is a heartfelt contemporary romance that flawlessly blends together the glitz of Hollywood with the grounded reality of personal healing and hidden pasts. It’s delightfully filled with awesome wittty banter, sizzling chemistry, and mutual respect. Watching both main characters confront painful memories and choose between safety and vulnerability, felt real and authentic. I loved how this story emphasizes that it’s the power of love, that’s needed and has the ability to uncover truths and bring two very different people together in such a wonderful way. This cute story wraps up a delightful series in which, all are worth the fun reading adventures!🙌🏻📚❤️
“It’s the small moments together that really matter.”
•Content: Some childhood trauma, absent parents (past), strained/manipulative parental relationship, panic attacks, tabloid lies/rumors/gossip, some very mild swearing, kisses, some mild innuendo.
-I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
“I have a feeling this won’t be the last time I’m surprised by the movie star, and I need to keep whatever distance I can. When I can. He’ll be in my boat for the next several days, but l’ll have to do my best to avoid him otherwise. It might be the only way I survive this trip.”
#wonderstruck
“For him, home is wherever I am. I know exactly how he feels.”
#starstrucklovestories
“True friends will be there for you no matter what. And families stick together. Together we can face anything that comes our way.”

“Power and peace come from accepting reality as it is. Not as I want it to be.”
First off, I LOVED this book! I was NOT expecting some of the scenes and that made it even all the more entertaining!
This book surprised me in the best way.
At first glance, Wonderstruck feels like a classic celebrity romance—but once you settle in, it becomes something much more heartfelt and grounded. Derek Riley may be Hollywood’s golden boy, but the constant attention, tabloids, and public expectations have left him feeling lonely and unseen. All he really wants is for someone to like him, not the version of him splashed across headlines.
Then there’s Donovan.
She’s a whitewater rafting guide in Moab, Utah, and she’s sharp, sarcastic, and very intentional about keeping her life small and quiet. She has an edge to her that I loved—guarded, capable, and not remotely impressed by fame. Their first meeting made me smile, and from there the chemistry builds in a way that feels natural, earned, and refreshingly respectful.
The setting is one of my favorite parts of this story. The river rafting, the canyon views, the star-filled skies—it all creates this calm, almost healing contrast to Derek’s chaotic Hollywood life. You can feel how different Moab is for him, and why it matters.
What really stood out to me was how thoughtfully this relationship unfolds. There’s no rushing, no forced drama—just two people slowly letting their walls down. Derek is kind and earnest without being overbearing, and Donovan is strong without being closed off forever. Their banter is fun, their connection is real, and the closed-door romance still manages to have plenty of spark.
If you enjoy celebrity romances where the focus is on emotional connection, mutual respect, and growth—with beautiful scenery and a quieter, more meaningful love story—Wonderstruck is definitely one to add to your shelf.
Tender, cozy, and surprisingly moving.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Burned out by fame, actor Derek Riley seeks refuge while training on a remote river, where he clashes with, and is captivated by, Donovan, a fiercely private whitewater guide who keeps him at arm’s length. As the outside world intrudes and buried histories emerge, they must choose between the safety of their defenses and the risk of a love built on honesty.
What you'll love: celebrity romance dual pov hidden identity whitewater rafting trip flirty banter the constellations SWOONY KISSES! found family PERFECT ENDING!
10/10, no notes!
Like every other reader who’s followed this series, I’ve been waiting for Derek’s story since the first few chapters of book one!! As the leader of the friend group, he’s always been a little standoffish and mysterious...and NOW WE KNOW WHY!! (Don’t worry, this review is completely spoiler free!)
Donovan is exactly the person Derek needs to help him change the way he sees himself and the world around him. Their meet-cute was the scene I didn’t know I was missing, and every interaction on the rafting trip just made me want more. The charged chemistry, the witty banter, the way they help each other heal, and the beautiful friendship that slowly unfolds… sigh. Their romance truly feels like one for the ages.
This story is filled with profound, heartfelt truths about family and friendship, about accepting help and learning to accept yourself. It’s about healing, hope, and finding connection when you least expect it. This book is the perfect capstone to a fun, engaging series that delivers plenty of light, joyful moments, while also offering something deeper for readers willing to look beneath the surface.
If you love celebrity romances packed with humor and heart, the kind that leave you laughing one minute and crying the next, then this book - and the entire series - is absolutely for you.
I received a complimentary copy but a positive review was not required.
SO good! I’ve read every book in this series, and I thoroughly (like read it in 2 days!) enjoyed Wonderstruck! The banter, characters, setting, emotional depth, secrets and hidden identity, and friend love (all the things!) make this such a fun and enjoyable yet heartfelt read! It’s well-written and complete, moves at a great pace, and has characters with depth. The tension between Derek and Donovan and the secrets to uncover kept me invested the whole time! Derek and Donovan are perfect for each other – I enjoyed the dual POV storytelling, their banter, how they support each other, and the tension in their relationship. Be warned, they fall fast!
Some favorites from the story – the banter and nicknames, seeing who Derek really is beneath his actor mask, everything about the rafting trip and setting, the astronomy lesson, seeing Derek and Donovan face their fears, when he defends her, the friend love, the Jonah and June cameo, and the ending – I might have gotten a little teary!
This is one of my all-time favorite rom com series, and I’m sad to see it end, but I’m excited to see what Dana has coming next. I think this book is best enjoyed after reading the other books in this series, but you could read it as a stand-alone and not be lost. Reading the other books just adds SO much depth to this one! Also, do yourself a favor and read the bonus epilogue!
Content: kisses-only (frequent/passionate at times) along with thoughts of desire, a one bed situation (nothing happens), childhood trauma/absent parents/strained family relationships, minor cursing/innuendo (3-4), mental illness rep
I received an advance review copy from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
have been so excited for Derek's story while reading all of the Starstruck series and it did not disappoint! The only thing that makes me sad is that this wonderful series is now at an end and I am not ready for that! We finally get to know Derek, the man behind the mask. We've seen him show up for all of his friends with a fierce protectiveness and determined loyalty, and know we get to know more about him. I loved that Derek was a multi layered personality. He had charm, confidence, and courage. But he also had fears, insecurities, and trauma. He had so much on his shoulders and my heart broke for the pressure he felt. I loved the honest portrayal of anxiety and perfectionism. Of course, one of Derek's best qualities is the whole hearted way he loves people, and he falls for Donovan in the same all in manner that he lives his life. I loved the way he fell for her. The open way he allowed her to see him was so beautiful. Donovan was awesome. I loved her strength and her connection to the outdoors. Reading this book has made me want to go whitewater rafting so bad! I really liked how Donovan wanted to help others and wasn't afraid to help someone through the messy parts of their life. And in Donovan, Derek found an equally fierce defender. I loved how she challenged Derek to not just be honest with himself and his friends, but also to grow to a healthier version of himself. She protected him from others and from himself. The chemistry between them was off the charts and the emotional connection was so profound-l was here for every minute of it! It was so good! @authordanalecheminant has really crafted a gorgeous and captivating series end with this book!
From book one of the Starstruck Love Stories series, I have been curious about Derek Riley and anxiously anticipating his book. In Wonderstruck, we finally get to see what makes Derek tick and the reason why he is Mr. Perfect. My heart went out to Derek learning his backstory and I kind of wish he was a real actor because I’d totally watch his movies and want him for a friend.
This book is a chunker. For me, it kind of felt like two parts. The first main portion of the book is all set in Moab on the river and I absolutely loved the feel and details during these scenes especially knowing the author’s personal ties and love of river rafting. There is no doubt the details are accurate and true to an experience river rafting. In this part we meet Donovan for the first time and watch as both her and Derek let down their walls and fall in love.
Next, it’s back to the “real” world, where Derek has to navigate what he has learned about himself, face-off with the person behind Hollywood Hot Scoop (yes, we finally learn who, and no, I did not see that coming), and figure out how to share his life with not only Donovan, but really his friends.
It was a great wrap up to the series and fun to see everything come full circle. I loved Derek’s heart and thought that the twist with Donovan made her the best match for him. While this can be read as a stand-alone, I personally think this one is best read in the series order for the full emotional impact. Oh, and you’re probably going to want to go river rafting after reading this book. I recommend this story and series.
I was so excited for Derek’s story and this was just as good as I hoped! I loved getting to see Derek’s POV and to see the conclusion to the Starstruck series. Derek was such an interesting character. He was one of the first characters introduced and a key character in all the other Glam Gang’s books. However, this book really shows us who Derek was. I really felt for him! He had his walls so high and was so careful about what he let others see about him. Derek had to learn to work through some of his own struggles with others. Donovon drew him in and became a place he could open up, Donovan had to grow on me a little. She was also very cautious, honestly probably more than Derek in the beginning. She was stubborn, fiercely protective of the whitewater rafting business her family had, and not sure what to think of Derek. I admired her dedication and passion. Donovon was reluctantly drawn to Derek and as they connected, we got to see more of her past. They were so good for each other and gave each other space to grow! I loved seeing the threads come together in the final book in the series. Not only did we get to see Derek’s story, but the Hot Scoops side plot is pulled together. I don’t want to spoil anything, but I was shocked! I loved also getting to see the whole gang come together as well. They are such good friends to one another. This contemporary closed-door romcom has only kisses and some innuendo. I received an ARC.
