Love Potion

Rate this book
Being the bassist of one of the world’s most famous metalcore bands didn’t mean Trac Hando was a womanizer.
Known for being shy and introverted, he was the only band member that did not want to mess around.
Not until he caught his girlfriend on her knees in front of another guy.
Falling into the tender hands of her roommate blurred every rule. Every line. And man, he did not know what he was in for. But he held on for the ride of his life, anyway.

Fate Anderson, as free-spirited as they came, would teach her roomie’s ex-boyfriend to let loose. To live and be less scared. To show him exactly how good it could be.
After all, he hadn’t been the only one getting cheated on.
It was only fair to have a sweet, sexy fling with her roomie’s ex-boyfriend, right?
Free-falling into the unknown had never been easier.

Devi Duarta is, although quite introverted—except when writing and reading steamy books—quite bold in her wardrobe and... I mean, pink hair! She loves metalcore music, bowling, and car karaoke (when she's by herself, of course).

I would recommend reading the other two books in the series first. I feel like I would've bonded with the characters better. The MMC is (in his words) boring and wears his heart on his sleeve. The FMC is more quirky and lives life in the moment. The two were brought together over heartbreak caused by someone they both trusted. I found myself a little confused by the dialogue at times. I'm sure that's just a 'me problem' though.

ARC REVIEW

I cant stand Sienna she’s the only reason I didn’t rate this book 5 stars, like it’s very rare for me to hate someone but she had no business creating a mess like that because she likes control and couldn’t admit her feelings for Miller, it was absolutely ridiculous 😭, But like it also made the story what it is to have Trac and Fate connect the way they did, they both bonded over heartbreak. I loved how Trac was able to get out of his comfort zone with her. Sienna lowkey had no business being jealous knowing damn well she didn’t love him and not only wasted her time but wasted his because he made her feel “safe”, that was honestly selfish on her behalf. The fact that they were able to talk it out at that ball though and was able to get that closure that the both of them needed was what really made me rate this book 4 stars, because if Sienna was still the bitch she was at the beginning honestly I think it would’ve been lower😭.
Even with Fate getting her heartbroken as well I loved how she put her feelings aside to be the anchor that Trac needed even if they were strangers still. I knew there would be a connection with them the first time Trac accidentally had his face in her ass🤣.
I loved their banter even with the band members, Trac’s brother Tyler is absolutely hilarious he really had me rolling🤧. The spice was amazing I definitely loved the underwater scene and then at the end when Fate asked Trac how long he can hold his breath for😂😂.

Devi has this incredible way of writing MMC's that make their inner thoughts sound so realistic. The way all the band members communicate with each other, the way they act, all of it is written so well.
Four stars, because I love Devi's writing and her voice, but I felt that while it started strong the plot gave way to Trac and Fate repeatedly boning each other every chance they got, and they got a lot of chances at that.

While I don't normally read this genre, I have to say this book was a breath of fresh air!
Trac and Fate are loveable characters that are meant to be, and while you love to hate Sienna, you get to see a different side of her before the end.

A whirlwind romance between our MMC and our FMC. One being “boring,” quiet, and reserved. The other vivacious, adventurous, and extremely outspoken. One is calm, while the other is chaos.

The band decides to take a break from their flashy life of being famous and on tour. During this break our MMC and FMC lives cross paths due to a devastating discovery leading to hearts shattering. Can the two just keep it fun and casual or will one or the other catch feelings? Will someone get hurt further? Will happiness find our Rockstar?

Devi’s writing around each character makes you want to hug them, hate them, or be best friends with them. She makes you feel a roller coaster ride of emotions as each character comes into play. I want to highlight Devi’s creative mind when it comes to writing out the intimate scenes, so be ready for your mouth to drop. The scenes were written so well, I could see a vivid picture in my mind. There were moments I giggled and moments I was just in utter awe.

Deep dive into this well paced story about heartbreaks, secrets, healing, openness, jealousy, and discovery that life continues no matter what.

Love Potion was my first taste of Devi Duarta's writing. Although I hadn't read the first two books in the Madness Thrives series, I did not have to in order to enjoy this book. I found Love Potion to be a refreshing take on the rockstar romance. Trac, the MMC, was not your typical bad boy rockstar that needed to be tamed. He was sweet, kind, and serially monogamous. Fate, the FMC, was a ray of sunshine and just what he needed. I thought the two paired well together, and while this was not quite a grumpy-sunshine trope it was close enough for feel good vibes. After reading Love Potion, I definitely want to read the other books in the series and get to know the other members of the band and find out their stories, too.

This book was really good. I will warn you like she does. She does mention cheating in the book and it is not just one of the main characters that gets cheated on. So the male main character when the book starts is not with the main female character. The main characters actually meat in a kind of awkward way. In A way both the main male and the female main character heal from being cheated on together. You have like enough banter to make it like a sunshine, grumpy romance, but you also have that shy inexperienced vibe going on throughout the whole book. I like that despite the fact that in a way they both were cheated on, they came together to help heal each other and be there for each other after that hard time and wound up finding love together.

Love Potion and sexy bassist

I really liked these two together, they are total opposites of each other but meld really well together. Extrovert and introvert push each other in a great way.
Fate is a wild child and loud
Trac is a bassist and kind of a people pleaser
But together they made the perfect pair and the spicy scenes were hot despite him claiming to be vanilla.
I really didn't dislike anything about this book it truly hit everything I was after, romance, very unhinged family/band members and sexy scenes.
I hope we see more of these two.

I thoroughly enjoyed this as an ARC reader. This was my first time reading a rockstar story and I really liked it. Truly had a good amount of both sweet and spicy. It was good to see Trac coming out of his shell in a way all thanks to Fate. They were adorably hot together! It didn't have any unnecessary drama and was easy to read. Would definitely recommend and I'll be diving into the whole series now 🔥

The plot was good in this one, making it a worthwhile read. There was a little too much tell that didn't allow the buildup of chemistry between the MCs. The dialogue was hard to follow at times, as it jumped from one point to another with no connection to the previous thought. But I did like the characters overall and it has a nice steamy factor.
