He is the author of five essays and eight novels, including Portuguese blockbusters Codex 632, which sold 192 000 copies, The Einstein Enigma, 178 000 copies, The Seventh Seal, 190 000 copies, and The Wrath of God, 176 000 copies. His overall sales are above one million books, astonishing figures considering Portugal’s tiny market.
José’s fiction is published or is about to be published in 17 languages. His novel The Wrath of God won the 2009 Porto Literary Club Award and his other novel Codex 632 was longlisted for the 2010 IMPAC Dublin Literary Award.
His first novel, The Island of Darkness, is in the process of being adapted for cinema by one of Portugal’s leading film directors, Leonel Vieira.
José is also a journalist and a university lecturer. He works for Portuguese public television, where he presents RTP’s Evening News. As a reporter he has covered wars around the globe, including Angola, East Timor, South Africa, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Iraq, Bosnia, Serbia, Lebanon and Georgia. He has been awarded three times by CNN for his reporting and twice by the Portuguese Press Club.

February 19, 2026Je comprend beaucoup mieux maintenant comment l'intervention de la Russie a facilité l'élection de Trump en 2016 et encore plus facilement en 2024 - utilisant les réseaux-sociaux pour diviser les EU en multipliant la désinformation, encourageant des entités tel Q-Anon etc le tout combiné à un électorat souvent peu éduqué et qui obtient le gros de son information, qu'elle soit bonne ou mauvaise, par les réseaux-sociaux, et voila ! Regardez les agissements de Trump vis-à-vis de la Russie d'une part et vis-à-vis de ses "alliés de toujours" d'autre part et peu d'explication résiste au point central du livre qui soutient que Trump a été compromis par les services secrets de la Russie.
