Have you ever had a boyfriend cheat on you? Did you call him out on it, even if he's the hometown hero? I did and managed to get my heart broken in the process...

Now, back home in Aidan Falls for the summer, all I want to do is keep my head down until next semester starts—a hard prospect when my ex, his ex, and the whole damn town can’t seem to let go of the past.

And that’s not even mentioning Micah Wyatt, the ludicrously hot new guy who seems to know all about my past, and he isn’t shy about wanting to trap me in a bet he's made to get the town pariah—aka me—under the sheets.

I know Micah is bad news, but that doesn’t make him any easier to resist. After all, I’ve had a taste of bad before, and I’m not sure I want to go back to being the good girl…

A long time ago, in a land far, far away (Milwaukee , WI , St. Luke's Hospital), Chris Marie Green (also writing as Crystal Green) joined the world. While moving to Southern California, Kentucky , then back to California , she amused herself by writing poetry and short stories featuring the ultimate Alpha males--Superman and Indiana Jones. Later, after graduating with a B.A. in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo , Chris decided to become a professional writer.

While she wrote, Chris worked as an eighth-grade teacher, but resigned in 2002 to pursue writing full time. Her critique partners, Sheri WhiteFeather and Judy Duarte are instrumental in her endeavors. Without these talented authors, writing would be a lonely road.

Chris is pumped about her Vampire Babylon series for Ace, which is best described as "noir fantasy-mysteries" featuring a vamp hunter. The first five books, NIGHT RISING, MIDNIGHT REIGN, BREAK OF DAWN (which compose the first trilogy), plus A DROP OF RED and THE PATH OF RAZORS (the first two books in the second trilogy) have already been released. The sixth, DEEP IN THE WOODS, will be on shelves on March 2, 2010. A Vampire Babylon-related novella was released in an anthology entitled FIRST BLOOD. (Note: The Vampire Babylon series uses trilogy arcs to tell one basic story, much like the way JK Rowling used seven books that didn’t solve every plot thread book-by-book to tell Harry Potter’s story. While each individual novel focuses on a central mystery that’s solved by the end, the three books together build character and mythology arcs/mysteries until everything culminates in the third book. Each trilogy repeats this pattern.)

Chris is also writes Silhouette Special Editions ("home and hearth" tales of redemption and community) and Harlequin Blazes (steamy fantasies), and whenever she can, she travels, including backpacking trips in Europe and road trips in America . “It’s not a bad thing to have secrets.” He nipped at my earlobe, and I bucked again. “Everyone has them. Don’t you want one?”

Living in a small town has it's ups and downs, ups being it is a tight knit circle or people willing to help you out when you need it... down being everyone's nose is in everyone's business. For Shelby, she was raised under the towns microscope being a bastard child of the towns wild child. Things gets worse when she suspects her ex is cheating on her and puts a plan in place to honeytrap him. The problem is that he is the town hero and everyone sided with him and wronged her for trying to ruin his reputation. Back for the summer, she's trying to keep a low profile and out of trouble, helping her mom out in their diner waiting for school to start back up again.
I was here to shed my sin, to put my nose to the grindstone and forget about my mistakes and think about how to carry on. And if I could find myself again in the process, that would be a bonus. No. That would be perfect.

Her plan should have been simple, but in walks the newest town bad boy, a man who could care less than his reputable reputation, a man who has set his sights on her. Trying to persuade him to take his attention elsewhere is a losing battle, one she isn't so strong to fight; because in his eyes she isn't Aidan Falls Empress of Scandal, she's just a regular girl.
“You’re gonna fall for me one day, Shelby,” he said.

Persistent as ever, he seeks her out offering her a chance to live her life on her terms, inviting her to take a chance and showing her just how fun it is to be bad. He never hid the truth from her, and all she had to do was throw caution to the wind and take a chance. They both have something to learn from each other, challenging each other to not change who they are but be a better them.

Honeytrap is a tale of second chances and living in a small town. Micah was a delicious bad boy, who made no apologies for who he is and what he's done. Shelby is caught up in the small town dramatics it takes a bit a way from just how fun this book can be. The focus on what others thought is too prominent in this book, but I guess it has to, especially since it is a small town. The anticipation and tension was what kept me turning the page and had me overall enjoying the read, regardless of the small town annoyance and ignorance. It is a standalone read with no epilogue, recommended if your in the mood for a cat mouse game.

I really enjoyed this story. I had no idea what a honeytrap was before reading this but the title makes perfect sense. Shelby was cheated on by her boyfriend, a football hometown hero. She embarrassed him and you just don't do that to Rex so going back to their hometown for the summer is a bit of a problem for Shelby. A lot of people are rude to her and gossip about her. Then, she meets the newcomer Micah Wyatt who bets that he can get her in bed by the end of summer. Shelby just can't stay away from Micah and I have to say, I don't blame her one bit. Micah is sexy and I loved him. This story was interesting and I really liked the supporting characters, I can't wait for Jadyn's book next! My only complaint about this book is that at times, it did seem to drag out a little bit in the beginning and it took a little bit of time for me to get into the story. One of the most positive things about the book was the writing. There was a sexy scene in this book that was so beautifully written, it wasn't overly graphic or dirty, it was just descriptive in the emotions and really beautiful. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good romance.

This one was ok... There were parts that really made me swoon- especially Micah- but I didn't really care for Shelby too much. She was too worried about her reputation and I thought her ex and his friends were too juvenile to be college age. They acted like they were in 8th grade.

Quick & Dirty: Sexy NA romance with loveable characters, lots of drama, and great steamy moments. It only took me a few hours to read this, but I was entertained the whole time!

Opening Sentence: When the group on the dock finally saw us lying out on the lake’s shore, the attacks began, just like I told Evie they would.

The Review:

Shelby is heading home from college for the summer and she is not looking forward to it. She grew up in the small town of Aiden Falls and she was always a topic for gossip. Her mother got pregnant with her when she was 16 years old and it was never revealed who her father was, but Shelby was okay with that. I mean she always wondered who her father was but she had such a wonderful mother it never mattered much who her loser father was. But her past is not the reason she is dreading heading home for the summer; her recent breakup with her boyfriend is.

Shelby was a little nerdy in high school and never dated much, but the summer after graduation brought many changes to Shelby. She managed to catch the eye of the town superstar, Rex. He was the high school quarterback and is now playing well in college. There aren’t many people from Aiden Falls that have much success, so pretty much everyone in the town worships Rex. But it turns out Rex isn’t such a great guy, Shelby caught him cheating on her and she called him out on it. To say their breakup was messy is a total understatement and now she will have to deal with all the hometown gossip floating around about her.

To top things off, the girl that Rex ran to after his messy breakup with Shelby just recently cheated on him with the hot new guy, Micah Wyatt. Micah has a bad boy reputation and he likes to hookup with pretty much anyone that is willing. It seems he has his sights on Shelby as his next conquest and she isn’t sure she will be able to resist his charm, even if it means more gossip about her. Falling for the bad boy is never a good idea, but even though Shelby seems like a good girl she might crave being bad more then she lets on.

Shelby is a sweet girl that is very indecisive at times. For the most part she was a great character but there were a few things that really frustrated me about her. First, I want to address the whole relationship she had with Rex. I get that she was really inexperienced when she started dating him, but the way she handled everything just felt a little awkward to me. I never saw the appeal of Rex, so I didn’t understand why she let Rex and all his townies treat her the way she did. I get she didn’t want to cause conflict but it got frustrating by how much she let other people predict her actions. Then with Micah she was so flighty. One moment she is pushing him away and the next moment she can’t seem to get enough of him. I realize that in many ways this was a coming of age story for Shelby, but I felt like she should have been more mature then she was. But on the flip side of things, I did love her relationship with her mother and how devoted they were to each other. I also loved how much Shelby grew throughout the story and she did eventually become someone I could respect. Overall, I struggled with her character, but ultimately I ended up liking her.

Micah was hands down my favorite thing about this book. He is a sexy man and there is no denying that he is a bad boy that you can’t help but fall in love with. Yes, he is a player and way too cocky for his own good, but he is also a really good guy. He is always up front and honest about who he is and what he wants from a relationship, which is a rare quality to find. Also, as you get to know him you find out that he really has a good heart. Even though he has a rough past he has tried to move on with his life and be a better person. His relationship with Shelby is pretty funny most of the time and full of great sexual tension. Micah is a charmer and I can honestly see why it would be hard to resist him. Overall, he was a great love interest and I pretty much fell for him instantly.

Honeytrap is a fun and sexy contemporary romance that most new adult fans will love. I can honestly say that I read this entire book in one sitting, so it’s a quick read that keeps you entertained. I thought that the love story was developed perfectly and not rushed in anyway. I will admit that there was a lot of unnecessary drama in the book, but nothing that bothered me too bad. There was also some great humor laced throughout the story, but it also had some emotional moments as well. Overall, I thought that it was a really well rounded story that hit most of the elements I love in new adult books. This is the first book I have read by Green, but I think that she is a great storyteller and I am looking forward to reading other works by her in the future. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great romance filled with sexy times and fun humor!

Notable Scene:

As I ran my gaze from his nametag and up to his face, I couldn’t stop myself from taking in the smile he was aiming at me. Suggestive, slow, and cocked to one side . . . And it didn’t stop at his mouth, either. His light eyes—gray or green or maybe a little of both—seemed to melt the room, too.

I didn’t know how long I watched that smile, but little by little, I noticed the rest of him: tall, but not quite as tall as Rex. Broad shoulders under a blue shop uniform, sleeves rolled over his muscled forearms. Skin, tanned and grease-smirked. Hair, dark blond, long enough to be held back in a short ponytail at the nape of his neck.

But that smile, and those clear eyes under wickedly long brows . . . I could see why he had girls wrapped around his finger. The way he ran his gaze up and down me made me feel like he was taking off my clothes piece by piece—undoing the knot at the back of my halter, easing the material down over my skin until I was just in my bikini top. Traveling lower, working off my jeans shorts and sliding them over my hips until my temperature flared and . . .

My 3.5 Star Review for Honeytrap (Aiden Falls #1) by Crystal Green
Summary:
Shelby didn’t really run with the popular crowd but by her senior year in high school, let’s just say she blossomed into a beautiful young woman. This of course caught the attention of her small towns quarterback hero Rex. Hence, a high school romance is born. The thing is, Shelby never fully trusted Rex, he was always too flirty and when she called him on it, everyone turned against her.
After completing her first year of college, she is back home visiting and helping her mom out at her café. Unfortunately her small town hasn’t forgotten about what she did, so therefore she becomes a bit of a hermit.
Micah Wyatt is the new man in town and he has everyone talking. He is definitely a ladies man and doesn’t seem to care if the currently lady he is perusing is single. He has his sights set on Shelby.
People in small towns talk and Shelby learns that Micah and his cousin have made a bet, where she is concerned. She does all she can to avoid Micah like the plague. It is hard to avoid someone that you feel connected too. When Micah and Shelby are together, you can feel the sexual tension.
All it takes is one kiss and kiss leads to a sexy and bumpy ride for the both of them. When Shelby stands her ground against her ex, her heart is broken again.

My Thoughts:
Shelby is a beautiful and smart girl who chose the wrong guy. She followed her gut and proved that the local hero was a cheater but in turn, she ended up being the bad guy and the town’s pariah. She does her best to ignore the snide remarks from Rex’s followers. She was warned by her best friend about the new guy Micah and notified about the bet he made in regards to bedding her. The thing is he keeps turning up everywhere and soon they form a friendship which those lines start to blur. When she decides to stand up for herself and her friends and her relationship with Micah, a secret is revealed and her heart gets broken. She is strong and she refuses to be humiliated and stands her ground, reputation be damned.

Micah has the reputation of a bad boy. He is handsome and cocky. He doesn’t care about what people think about him. He is known for sleeping with a ton of woman, single, have a boyfriend or married. He also gets what he wants and when he sees Shelby, he wants her. What started out as a bet between him and his cousins ends up becoming so much more. No longer caring about the bet, he wants Shelby, not just in his bed but by his side every day.
Together Shelby and Micah are able to find themselves, although the road to their happiness is a bumpy one. Shelby has never felt what she feels when she is with Micah. Micah feels the same but he also feels that Shelby deserves better.
The town’s people are bullies and have no minds of their own, regardless of the facts, they are quick to judge. Although it takes some time, I love how Shelby and her friends finally take that stand.
This was a fun, heartbreaking and steamy story about dealing with the past to make way for the future and also for standing up for yourself and being able to find true love when you least expect it.
I would have loved an epilogue to see where the characters Rex, Micah and Shelby end up.

T_Rex Alvarez is the star athlete at Aiden Falls. The summer before Shelby and Rex dated. Rex cheated on Shelby and Shelby called Rex out on it. Instead of Rex getting negative comments about the break-up, Shelby is shunned. She comes back home only to have people call her names and do other hurtful things. There is a new boy in town, Micah. Micah makes a bet with his cousins that he can get Shelby to sleep with him before the end of the summer.

I love stories where the bad boy makes bets or things he can get a girl with no problems only to find out that the heroine is not so attainable as he thought. And I really like Micah and his honesty. However, I did not believe his love. It was too much back and forth between Micah and Shelby. My biggest problem with the book is that I did not feel secure with the hero’s feelings toward the heroine. By the time words were exchanged and feelings were said, I just did not trust. Too little, too late.
The reader sees the messages that Shelby’s ex-boyfriend, Rex, writes the girl he cheats with, Lana. That is how the story starts.

I really thought the story would go in a different way. I am not sure how to say this without sounding cruel, but I think that after 35%, I felt that no one wanted Shelby. Her best friend, Evie, was the town gossiper. I did not like that girl from the beginning. I guess we all know or have a friend like Evie but I don’t think I could call that person my best friend. The way Evie told Shelby information just did not sit right with me.

One thing that I know threw me off from the story is when Evie told Shelby about a girl that slept with Micah and then they become friends. That whole friendship I could not grasp no matter how nice the characters were to each other.

I see in many ways what the author was trying to do with the characters, but for me it did not work. By the time any real feelings developed, I did not trust or believe them. I felt no real connection.

I'm going to have to admit the blurb scared me a bit but honestly I had nothing to worry about. Micah he was a real charmer, "I'd like to tell you I have no idea what an Oprah is, but no one escapes her. Not even in a repair shop." Shelby I get why that girl's cautious but when she care she cares deep, "without thinking, I reached up to touch his face. He shied. "You act like you've never seen a shiner before. Damn, Shelby, this really is nothing." I really liked what Shelby and Micah had going:
"Is everything ultimately about sex with you?" I asked.
"I can't help my testosterone."
Micah was charming in his own way, "can't stand here getting blue balls with you all day. I've got a job to do for my girl." Micah's cousins caught my interest and so didn't Shelby's friends I can't wait to see what this series brings and I can't wait to read more.

An excellent NA read. Great writing and characters dealing with ugly family truths and learning to be true to themselves rather than what others may think. This is a good one.

Small town gossip and judgmental ways have a way of hurting people to the core. That's exactly what Shelby is dealing with when she returns to Aidan Falls for summer break after her breakup with the town golden boy Rex. When town bad boy Micah Wyatt starts going after her she knows it will only lead to more gossip and trouble but his honesty and charming way is hard to resist and she's not sure she wants to.

I definitely recommend this one.

I found this book to be rather boring. =( I thought all the characters (main and secondary) were really immature, and Green didn't do anything new that kept me engaged. I finished the book, but it took me a long time to get there because I felt like I had to slug through.

My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received an e-galley of this novel from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not obligated to write a good review nor did I receive any compensation for writing this review.

The Characters: I'm not sure what I thought about the characters to be honest. I thought they were interesting, and I loved watching the growth the characters made. Shelby is the town pariah after she treated the small-town football star like crap. Nobody wants anything to do with her except for Micah Wyatt--the town bad boy, who made a bet he could get her to sleep with him. Not exactly, the right type of attention to be attracting. I neither liked nor disliked Shelby.

She was an interesting character to read about, but I was apathetic about her.

Micah was a character that I thought could have been better developed. Toward the end of the novel, you start getting to know more about him, but you never really got to dive into his thought process. That's probably because the novel was told in Shelby's perspective. Micah is the typical badboy who's really not all that bad. But all in all, I liked the characters.

The secondary characters were intriguing and enjoyable to read about as well.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I enjoyed the novel. It was a quick enjoyable read for me. I read it in one sitting in the space of just a couple of hours. The novel was well written and definitely dramatic.

I didn't love the novel, but I found it to be an interesting read. The plot line just wasn't one that drew me in as much as I would have liked. However, I think that fans of the new adult genre in general will like this novel.

So why 3 stars? I enjoyed it, but it didn't really stand out.

Warnings/Side-notes: Fairly tame as far as New Adult novels go. There are some sexual references/scenes, and there are some cases of strong language.

The Wrap-up: An enjoyable, quick read.

Review by Trinette Dungee

Shelby Carson isn’t have the best summer. Fresh off of her freshman year from college she spends her days hiding out. Why? Because she publically humiliated her boyfriend for the cheater he is. You would think everyone would be angry with him but in a small Texas town like Aidan Falls where football reigns supreme, you DO NOT humiliate the hometown hero and former star quarterback. All that gets you is exiled, labeled the town misfit and puts you right at the top of the local rumor mill. But Shelby’s no stranger to gossip. She’s lived her entire life dealing with it after all she’s the illegitimate daughter of an unwed teenage mom. Unfortunately for Shelby, she now has one more rumor to deal with; Micah Wyatt and his bet to bed her. Micah is no stranger to gossip either he’s the resident bad-boy who sleeps with other guys’ girls and even other men’s wives. And now, he’s set his sights on Shelby.

Where do I start with Honeytrap? To say it was interesting is an understatement. It was very interesting but just not consistently. It didn’t grab me right away and at times it kind of lost me but then again at times, I wasn't totally engaged. When it was good, it was very good but when it dragged, it really dragged.

Although the story is told from Shelby’s POV, it was Micah that had me more intrigued and what kept me going. Then again I guess that could have been the intent, for the reader to be as captivated by Micah as Shelby was.

The story starts off with a prologue of a conversation on a public chat board between a few people, primarily Shelby’s ex, Rex, and a girl named Lana Peyton that had me more than a little confused. Based on the conversation you kind of get that this Lana person is who Rex cheated with. Then the actual story starts off with Shelby and her friend Evie at the lake where Shelby basically has her first public encounter with residents who pretty much worship her ex. We learn that Shelby didn’t handle Rex’s cheating very well. Here the breakup and cheating “incident” are referenced quite often but you don’t get much info about either. It wasn’t until about 12% into the book where my interest piqued while it wasn’t the first conversation between Shelby and Micah it was the one that really hooked me especially with Micah’s unapologetic actions for having sex with a girl who had a boyfriend.

“Did you know that she was taken?” He managed to look slightly guilty, but the lazy cockiness he’d come in with still overrode everything else. I made a disgusted sound and went back to rolling napkins. The loyalty-testing rumor about him and Jadyn floated away from my mind, finally leaving me alone.
“Hey,” he said in that low, smooth voice. “At least I’m straight about what I do. I don’t hide that I’m an asshole.” My jaw almost hit the floor, and I guessed he took that as encouragement. “Yeah, I’m talking about your boy Rex,” he said. “Wasn’t there something I heard about him cheating on you back at college and trying to get away with it?”

And then I was lost again. This happened quite often throughout the book. The dialogue between Shelby and Micah was very engaging…it’s the in-between where the story lulled for me. I adored the banter between the two and Shelby’s no shrinking violet. Although she appears to be weak and passive Micah brings something out of her. She just kind of lets him have when it comes to what she thinks of him which just brings out Micah’s brazen “in-your-face attitude”. Even when Shelby confronts him about a bet he has involving her he just kind of goes with it.

“I hear you have a bet with your cousins about me.” Evie sucked in a breath and scampered ahead of us, but Micah only grinned and looked down at me again.
“Is that what this town is saying?” he asked. “As I told you before, Shelby, you listen to them too much.”
I ignored his misdirection, even though he was right. “Do I have it wrong?”
“No.”
His bluntness nearly made me blink, but I kept eye contact, right along with the space I was maintaining between us—him a few feet away, me another. Even then, I could still smell that laundry soap, his skin, that mysterious something. “Jeez,” I said. “Seriously? You’re actually admitting you made a bet about ‘nailing’ me?”
“Why wouldn’t I admit it?”
“Because if I know you’re out to get me, you kind of lose the element of surprise.”
“I don’t need surprise.”

Throughout the book both Micah and Shelby have their internal struggles. Shelby seems to struggle with being who she is and who she really wants to be. In the end I think she realizes she's actually both. Micah struggles with feeling like he’s not “good enough” or he doesn’t “measure up”.

There were so many lulls in this book but it had so much potential that I had to keep reading. Finally Micah and Shelby develop some sort of “relationship” and of course you know the other shoe is going to drop so you just wait for it…which is find but it just kind of dragged a little too much for me. I did like how the author played on the sexual tension of the two. It was almost as if the sexual tension was another character. Learning Micah’s background and Shelby’s desire to discover the identity of her father were definite attention grabbers but again just too many lulls in the story. For me when the book finally found its momentum it was ending. I actually loved the way it ended. I just wish the rest of the book read the same way. There were many good parts to this book, I just didn’t like the way they were pulled together.

I’m going to say three stars for Honeytrap because it’s a good story with a lot of potential and although it didn’t really do it for me; I can’t say I’m sorry I read it.

Honeytrap is a nice, slightly sexy book that is full of lots of drama and angst. I would say this book is aimed more at YA, but I'm 29 and I still like angst, high school/college drama and bumpy road to find your true love.
Shelby is a smart beautiful girl who in high school fell for the wrong boy, Rex. Shelby already is the hot topic of gossip in the small town she lives in, Aiden Falls because her mum fell pregnant very young and she doesn't no who her father is. When Rex shows interest in Shelby she is shocked as she is the nerdy girl who has turned out to be very beautiful, kind and loving.
Rex is the towns hero. He can't do no wrong, everybody loves him so when Shelby catches him cheating on her the break up is horrific and now Shelby has to deal with the town gossiping about her break up with the "wonderful, can not do anything wrong" Rex. Where in fact Rex is a horrible person, who I couldn't stand.
I hated how he treated Shelby as she didn't do anything wrong. She didn't deserve the whole town to gossip about her just because Rex was a great quarterback. I got really angry at parts of the book because of how Shelby was being treated. The whole town were bullies and I can stand bullies. I found this very upsetting because nobody deserves to be treated the way Shelby was for no reason really and she defiantly doesn't deserve to be a victim of bulling. I don't no how Shelby stayed so strong. I loved that about her so much, but I wish she stood up for herself more with Rex and the towns people as she can't help that her mum to pregnant young, or doesn't no who her dad is or that Rex cheated in her and was a total idiot.
Shelby has to come home for the summer as her first year of college is over. She's not looking forward to going home because the town are still making her their prime topic of conversation.
Since Shelby has been away a new guy has moved to the town, Micah Wyatt.
Micah is your typical bad boy who is gorgeous, cocky and will sleep with anyone he wants. He doesn't care if their married, single or have a boyfriend.
My first thoughts on Micah were not great. He came across exactly like your typical bad boy but worse. When he sees Shelby he sets his sights on her straight away and he is determined to make her his next conquest. What makes my impression of Micah even worse is that he has made a be with his cousin to sleep with her.
At this point in the book I wanted to do slap Micah and scream. (lol). I had to remind myself that this was a book as I was getting very angry and frustrated with everything that was happening. Making a bet to sleep with someone is disgusting and I hated that somebody would do that. Micah would have to seriously change if I was ever going to like him as he was making me want to scream. The only redeeming part is that Shelby finds out about the bet. I was very happy that she knew so she wouldn't fall for his charm and end up hurt and giving the town more to gossip about, but I was also saddened for her. She already had enough to deal with, she really isn't need the added pressure Micah and his bet and the emotions that go with being part of a cruel joke.
The trouble is no matter how much Shelby tries to avoid Micah she can't. He's always there and they end up with this weird friendship that I didn't no if it was real because of the bet, but at the same time there is some serious, smoking hot sexual tension between them both and they were both obviously very attracted to each other.
Will Micah go through with the bet? Can Shelby trust Micah's feelings are real and not a act to get her in bed? Will Shelby find the courage to stand up to Rex and the bullies in her town?
The story is told in Shelby's POV, but as Micah was such a complex character I'd of loved to of had the book in duel POV as his although his character starts off very badly, I'd of loved to of dug deeper into his mind to see what he was thinking and what were his true feelings about the bet and towards Shelby.
My opinion of Micah did change by the end of the book and his character, although he was not always nice, made the book. He was very interesting that I found I went from wanting to slap him silly to actually finding him a decent person who intrigued me.
The story took a little while to get going for me, but once it did I really went off and I was hooked.
My only disappointment with the story was the bullying. I hate bullying and I couldn't understand how a whole small town could treat a child/young adult the way they did. It did nearly stop Me from carrying in with the book as I'm seriously against bullying.
After finishing the book I was left with mixed feelings because of the bullying and "The bet". I disagreed strongly with those 2 things but I enjoyed the story over all and although I hated Micah at the start I ended up really liking him and he made the story for me. I defiantly got the angst throughout the story that I wanted an the push and pull that I love to.
Over all I'm glad I carried on reading the book as you see Shelby develop, get stronger and eventually start to stand up to the bullies in her town. That made me very proud.

Shelby wants nothing to do with her home town, but since her mom needs help at the cafe, she has little choice but to brave the summer at home until she can head back to college. But the town isn’t making it any easier for her. It seems that everyone here hates her since she trapped her ex-boyfriend and local golden boy into cheating on her. Everyone knows her business, and they aren’t making any secret of their judgement of her. Even the new guy, Micah, at the repair shop has heard all about it. But he seems more interested in her, not what she did or who she used to date, and if he wasn’t such a player, she might even like the attention.

The Verdict: When Micah bet his cousins he’d be able to get Shelby into bed, this easily could have turned into a romance novel filled with cliches. After all, you’ve got your golden boy ex, the new-in-town tattooed player and bad boy, and the all around good girl who’s been done wrong. But Honeytrap turns everything on its head and abandons most of the predictable.

When Shelby and her then-boyfriend Rex headed off to different colleges, she suspected he was cheating on her. Rather than simply calling it on it, though, she picked a pseudonym and headed for a chat room to find him. He took the bait, and their online flirtation quickly headed into cybersex territory. It was all the ammunition Shelby needed to bust him for the cheater she’d suspected he was, but it wasn’t nearly as rewarding as she’d expected. Rex’s friends and nearly everyone else in town turned on her, as if she’d committed a crime against him.

When Shelby meets Micah, he’s already got some awfully big strikes against him. For one, he’s the guy who got Rex’s new girl to cheat, so he’s not exactly looked upon nicely by the same people who’ve been making Shelby’s return home hell. Plus, he’s an unapologetic player. He knew the girl he hooked up with was taken, but he didn’t care, nor did he have any intention of letting it go past one night. Not exactly selfless or considerate. And now he’s made a bet with his cousins that he can get Shelby into bed, something he doesn’t seem the least bit ashamed of when Shelby finds out shortly after meeting him.

But Shelby’s an outcast in town, and so is Micah. And while she knows better than to get mixed up with someone who’s just as on the fringes as he is, there’s a certain comfort in the similarity of their situations. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that he’s drop dead gorgeous and willing to spend time with her even as she rebuffs his advances. He also brings out a different side of her than she’s really been willing to show, and the chemistry between them is nothing short of explosive. His easy acceptance of her results in deeper feelings that seem to take them both by surprise, and by the end they seem to give each other new confidence and purpose.

The relationship between Shelby and Micah was a much slower build than I anticipated, but that gave it time for the feelings that developed to come across as that much more genuine. There were times that Shelby’s immaturity was a bit frustrating, but at the same time, her behavior was so in line with what I remember from that age that it felt very real. Micah’s attitude at first kind of disgusted me, but the more I got to know him, the less I could fault him for it. He couldn’t very well be a fine, upstanding gentleman after the life he’d led, and it seemed his behavior was in some ways a shield. Had Shelby fallen for him immediately, she never would have gotten past it to the real, lovable Micah.

About the only thing I never could make sense of was the small-mindedness of the townspeople. I know that small towns can be just as cold as they can be welcoming, and living in one is often like living under a microscope, with all your mistakes studied and dissected and gossiped about long after they should have been old news. But even having experienced that at its best and worst in the town I’m from, I just can’t see an entire town, adults included, turning against a girl who managed to prove her boyfriend was a cheater. In that way, the town was very two-dimensional and less realistic than the rest of the story.

All in all, though, Honeytrap is a great read, and the main characters are an intriguing bunch. Young adults are can be very polar and pack-minded in their thinking, and Rex and his friends perfectly embodied that. Shelby was easy to identify with, simply in that she was rather lost without her own pack, and Micah had more depth than I ever expected. Honeytrap is the rare new adult story that keeps romance standards without turning them into cliches, and rarely have I rooted more for a couple to find their way back to each other.

Honeytrap is the first book I've read by Crystal Green, and it is also the first book in her Aidan Falls series. While the blurb sounded promising and I liked the cover, I have to say that this book was a little all over the place to me. There were things that I liked, but on the whole this book just didn't deliver what I had been hoping for.

Shelby has returned home to Aidan Falls for the summer and wants nothing more than to hang out with he friend and keep her head down. Ever since she publicly called out her cheating ex boyfriend, she has been the town pariah. Her ex Rex is a football star, and everyone in town took his side. But then she meets the new town resident Micah Wyatt and things quickly get even more complicated. When she finds out that Micah made a bet involving her, she will do anything to keep him away from her. But soon she finds herself drawn to him even when she knows that she should stay away from him.

I couldn't connect with these characters at all. I would have moments when I would think that I was about to change my mind, but then they would do something that would ruin it for me. I desperately wanted to like Micah, and he had moments when he seemed like a great guy despite the fact that most of his actions made him seem like a douche. But then he would do or say something else, and I couldn't believe that he would immediately revert right back. I honestly just didn't think it fit his character at all, and I couldn't figure out which personality was real. Shelby was hard for me to connect with as well, and I didn't care for the fact that she was so hung up on the past with her ex. She was a large part of what caused them to break up, and yet she seemed to sort of play the victim. She didn't like the way people were treating her, and yet she didn't do anything about it. I just didn't see what her issue was. She was pretty weak and wishy washy and I just didn't relate to her at all.

Besides Micah and Shelby, I didn't care for Rex or Shelby's friend Evie. I didn't understand the friendship that Shelby and Evie had, and Evie didn't really seem to have Shelby's best interest at heart. I also didn't get the friendship that Shelby formed with Jadyn. It didn't make sense at all, and honestly I didn't find it believable one bit. I would never be friends with someone who hooked up with my ex right after I did and then slept with the guy I was developing feelings for. It just seemed a bit too weird for me. I mean friends should be able to share things, but multiple guys? I also felt like this book kind of skipped around, and I found it disorienting. Especially the parts that would randomly go back in time with little to no explanation to chat messages between Rex and Lana. Once things were finally explained, it started to make sense. But at first it was confusing, and I felt like it could have been done in a better way so as not to confuse and distract the reader. The other thing that really bothered me about this book was how childish and immature everyone was. These are college age kids, and honestly their actions made them out to be more like middle school age kids. It just didn't work for me and wasn't at all what I expected. By the time I got to the end of the story, I was more than ready to be done and I just found the ending rushed and unbelievable. I couldn't believe how abrupt it ended and I felt like I had been mislead for most of this book. I wish we had been given a bit more to at least leave the reader in a better place with some kind of idea how things were a bit down the road for these characters. I am sure that since this is the first book in the series that there will be more about these characters in the future books. But I have to say that at this point I won't be running out to read them after having the issues I did with Honeytrap.

No one can write about bad boys better than Crystal Green can. Does not matter whether they are living outside of Vegas or in small town USA, she can nail them. She has done it again with Micah and Shelby in Honeytrap. Memorable character in a tightly written plot.

This story took me back to my long ago college days. Not much has changed in all that time. Now I’m more like Shelby’s mom than Shelby. However, I understand how it all works in small towns, with gossipers and those who live with the high school mentality that Shelby and Micah are subjected to though none are still in high school. The bigger picture is coming to terms with your past so that you can have a better future.

Personally, I liked Shelby but didn’t trust Micah until the very end. While I was hoping that he had changed, I knew that wouldn’t stick if he tried to change just for Shelby. I think the author showed him in a more mature and decisive light at the end. His change is for himself. I even admired him for trying to help Marvin with his drug problems. In this novel, the author created two authentic characters that I would love to see again ten years down the road.

As for the plot, it is high school drama, showing those days at its worst but that doesn't make it any less realistic. Moving and working in a small town, I see some who are like Taggert; should have grown up but never did. As for Rex and his cronies, well, don’t we all want to stand up to them; glad Jadyn did it for us. Clearly, Ms. Green has met this kind before, knowing they never listen. I did keep thinking that there is a Taylor Swift song in here somewhere.

One last thought, I did not know the meaning of the title, guess that shows my age. Yeah, I am thinking that there is a song in that.

There's not really much for me to say about Honeytrap - It wasn't mindblowingly good but it also wasn't excruciating to read... Mediocre would probably be the word I would use to describe it.
I think the main issue that I had with it is that I found the characters to be very immature for most of the book. I wasn't a huge fan of a lot of the choices that the main character Shelby made. And the way that some things were handled I felt were blown way out of proportion and existed solely for the purpose of creating drama. Micah was a better character in my opinion - I supported some of his decisions more than I supported Shelby's.
Despite not liking the plot, the writing was pretty good - which is really the reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 2.
Other than those aspects, I don't really have much to say about this book. In all honesty I probably won't read the next book in the series, but that's just me. If you're okay with a little unnecessary drama and romance give it a try though!

Crystal Green is a new-to-me author. And while I liked this book okay, it just didn't give me the wow factor I was hoping for.

Shelby is the town pariah. She dumped Aiden Falls glory boy and football hero, Rex in a very public display. Since returning home for summer break she's dealt with him and his crew slut-shaming her.

Micah is the newest bad boy to blow into town, and he's got a list of conquests a mile long. He sets his sights on seducing Shelby in order to win a bet. And it's a bet the whole town knows about, and Shelby does too. He swears he's called it off and is genuinely interested in her. But she knows what it's like to be honeytrapped.

As soon as I read the blurb, I knew this was going to be right up my alley. There were a few things I felt were underdeveloped and needed more explanation or expansion. It kept me interested enough and was well written, but it didn't knock my socks off.

This is the first book in a new series by Crystal Green. It's told in Shelby's first person POV. It's a standalone with no cliffhanger. ~ Erin, 3.5 stars

This was a strange little book for me. I liked the premise, but I just didn’t care for the characters. Although I kept reading to the end, I never felt a connection with anyone in the story. The heroine seemed too weak-willed and the hero came off as a jerk. I love bad boy love interests, but I couldn’t decide if I liked Micah or not. He was too hot and cold and it made me doubt his feelings were ever genuine. Plus, I felt like Shelby could be a bit of a doormat with him. However, I liked the author’s writing style and I did like the subplot about Shelby being bullied. I felt like the bullying portions of the novel were probably the most realistic and heart wrenching for me. The conclusion wrapped everything up nicely and the book can be read as a standalone.

2 stars and That's being nice. Micah was an Ass, the douche of douches, and Shelby is DUMB... Let me set this up for you, Evie, Shelby's best friend finds out Micah has made a bet, that if he can nail Shelby by the end of summer he could become a share holder in the family business.... Later on Shelby says this "Still, I kind of liked that he was handling me with his own type of kid gloves. it was a little flattering, just like the bet had been"

Shelby how stupid are you? your flattered some womanizer sat around with his cousins betting that he could get in your pants? SMH

There is so much about this book That just.... I really dont know why I read this one all the way thru..

"would it surprise you to know that I just plain like women, and I dont necessarily need a bet to be with one?"-Micah

What a douche bag

Aidan Falls is the typical small town, overflowing with gossip and kids with nothing left to do but party. The story has great bones, smart girl falls for bad boy and her ex is pushing everyone's buttons. She has some self esteem issues and needs a backbone, something she quickly learns. While the story is interesting and typical in the young co-ed world it was lacking chemistry. I wasn't feeling a zing between Shelby and Micah, love the name choices. Even with her friend Evie I didn't feel a true bond. The short novella before this was rather fun and I looked forward to the same. My copy was given for an honest review through Netgalley.

DNF at 27%

I decided to quit while I was ahead on this one. I was not connecting to the story or characters at all. It all seemed more like high school drama than college. I wasn't a fan of Shelby and Micah was not the type of male lead I tend to enjoy. The bet pissed me off, even if it didn't bother Shelby. There wasn't anything wrong with what I read of Honeytrap, it just wasn't working for me.

Really liked this book, I loved both characters, Micha is a swoon worthy read and Shelby takes a little to like but once you real get to know her you see the love she holds in. She's afraid of what people think but has reason to the more you read. When Micha and Shelby connect Sparks flie. Which way will it end for them is the question that made me keep reading.

This was a fun quick read. I loved the way the love developed throughout the book and wasn't an insta love thing. I loved the humor, but there was a little more dram than I felt was necessary. other than that I really did enjoy this book. i look forward to reading more from this author.

I am glad this is the first book of the Aiden Falls series. I like the characters. No one is perfect. We all have flaws and kids, even college kids, can and are lead by the pack mentality. Shelby is a great character. I enjoyed her journey to finding herself and love. And look forward to Jadyn's story coming in May.

I enjoyed Honeytrap. I thought the writing was good, I liked the characters and the story, but it didn't have anything to set it apart from all of the other college romances out there.
