Majid Bita (b. 1985, Iran) lives and works in Bologna, Italy, where he moved in 2014 and continues to reside. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Painting (2017) and a Master of Arts in Comic Languages (2020) from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna.
Majid is an illustrator, comic artist, and animator, working on editorial illustration, storyboards for films, music videos, and animated projects. His work has been published in Italian and international outlets, including Il Manifesto, Domani (Italy), Vogue Italia, La Repubblica (Robinson), Libération (France), SEEN magazine (USA), and Stripgids (Belgium).
His debut graphic novel, “Nato in Iran”, was published in Italy by Canicola Edizioni and in France by Gallimard. It has received numerous awards and nominations, including the Micheluzzi Award for Best Debut Graphic Novel, the Romics Special Mention Award, the Premio Special Mention – Young Adult Sector at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, and nominations at Lucca Comics & Games and Treviso Comics Festival. A second book is forthcoming.
Majid approaches drawing as a daily act of artistic commitment, exploring personal and collective memory, social reflection, and cultural exchange. His work embodies a belief in storytelling as a form of resistance, dialogue, and creative engagement with the world.
