You've got to be kidding me! Sometimes I see crazy stuff when I'm looking at giveaways. I finally decided that some just need their own shelf.

I won this in a giveaway, and I admit the title of the book is an eye catcher. Yes it would be a great gag gift, however you can't overlook this book if you like chicken, raise chickens or anything remotely close to either of those. The book is a wealth of information and the recipes are well catagorized, easy to follow and understand and for the most part healthy. It's no surprise the author has a background in nutrition and healthy eating. She has brought together a wide variety of dishes that flow well through the book. I've already tabbed a few to try once we get our farm fresh chickens from a local farm. So yes, have a good chuckle, but the author achieved something many can't, a catchy, risque title but a cookbook that delivers. Kudos to her.

A nice variety of simple recipes. For me, a good start on this new cooking endeavor, but insufficient. Even following the methods and recipes described, I am having trouble getting my old birds to be tender enough to make an enjoyable meal. I am doing something wrong, and this book has not helped me discover my mistake. Open to suggestions.

This is a surprisingly good cookbook.

If you want to learn to cook with whole unprocessed foods this is a very good cookbook. The title tends to make you think it is just a novelty book, something to buy as a joke. But the recipes are simple and (mostly) easy.

I was a bit put off when the first recipe called for homemade stock, and "the basics" are the last section. It would have been better if she had started with the basics and the stock recipe, because they are quite simple. And the rest of the book uses them. There are a lot of soup recipes and recipes that call for that homemade stock.

I had intended to use regular chicken for these recipes but they are so easy I have decided to try to find a local organic farm that will keep me supplied in cocks.

She even includes a recipe for Jamaican Cock soup. I had searched the internet for an authentic Jamaican Cock soup recipe, but they all start with "buy a packet of cock soup mix".

Some people have complained about her health advice being bad. Well, she knows her views are controversial. I didn't take her health ideas any more seriously than any other advice that food can cure diseases. But it pretty much comes down to "eat whole foods, avoid processed foods".

I really enjoyed the stories about her family, and her conversational tone. I think I will get more use out of this cookbook than I was expecting.

I don't generally read cookbooks from front to back. But this one ws so short and easy to read that I read it in less than an hour. It is only 50 recipes after all.

I wanted to read this book because I was under the impression that it would be similar to the book '50 Shades of Chicken' which was quite hilarious. Alas, this really is mostly just a cookbook with a funny cover.

Now novelty aside, this actually is an incredible cookbook. The recipes are wonderfully delicious, and the cookbook is full of natural and healthy ingredients with information as to why they are better than what is most commonly used. I learned plenty of surprising information from this cookbook, such as how rooster meat is more nutritious than that of hens. The author even kindly explains how to go about finding roosters, and describes the best methods of cooking the meat. My favorite recipe by far is the Miracle Cock Soup, which was so great at helping me get over illnesses that I quickly incorporated the broth and some of the steps into my other soup recipes.

I was not expecting to learn much from this cookbook, but the author quickly surprised me. 50 Ways to Eat Cock is a must have for any kitchen shelf, and I highly recommend anyone to buy it to try out these delicious recipes.

No, not quite what you might think! These are really recipes for cooking roosters (or old stewing hens). I really do wish there'd been more puns inside this book, but as I have a lot of cocks (er, roosters) running around here, seeing these Low and Slow recipes is helpful for cooking ideas.

(As cookbooks are reference books, I have not added this one to the 2021 tally of "read" books.)

I found the recipes to be pretty common, but the biggest disappointment is the missed opportunity for humor. Basically shelf porn, nothing else.

I really enjoyed the introduction and all the mythology about roosters because I obviously relate to it, however the nutrition tips were an eye opener for me and I learned a lot of things I certainly wasn't expecting. It also inspired me to find out more.

Some good recipes, most actually lack the balls the title claims it to have. A little bland.
